The Washington Post among many others are stooping as low as beseeching the GOP to reconsider Trump. To do “something” about Trump.
Are they beseeching the same people who are refusing to hear an Obama nominee?
Are they hoping one of the other candidates would be a better alternative?(obviously they knooow Kasich isn’t going anywhere.)
I guess they want Rubio…Or some Cinderella Bloomberg fantasy.
Is their memory that short? Are they that myopic?
Or is there a lot of Liberal, elitist, bourgeois fear here? How much crossover is there with the GOP on this? Oh there’s definitely some.
Terror that the Lumpen masses are having a say in this election? That’s what I think.
They did their job with Bernie…they did their part.
Or is it just because they know Hillary has the least chance of winning against Trump.
I’m sure the GOP already knows this. They also know very well that Bernie would have a much better chance of beating Trump.
The amount of crossover/independents in that equation are relevant.
The amount of people who will vote for Trump before they vote for Hillary…it’s gotta be alot.

Or is it just because they know Hillary has the least chance of winning against Trump.I think they're just geared up to fight Hillary. She has been a consistent target of theirs for decades.
I'm sure the GOP already knows this. They also know very well that Bernie would have a much better chance of beating Trump.Doubtful.

I think they're just geared up to fight Hillary. She has been a consistent target of theirs for decades. They won't even have to run negative ads against Hillary if they don't want to. They will. I wouldn't. Just let her do the talking.
I can’t figure out if most journalists are ideologues or they just want people to read their stuff, though it seems Trump is pushing a lot of their buttons.
Maybe Trump coverage has gone beyond politics.
I can't figure out if most journalists are ideologues or they just want people to read their stuff, though it seems Trump is pushing a lot of their buttons. Maybe Trump coverage has gone beyond politics. Most of them are craven ideologues. On both sides. The people who own the presses are ideologues. Obviously they want people to read their articles. The panic mode articles going on at the WaPo, and the NYT are hysterical. Their Op Eds are being copied all over the place.
Most of them are craven ideologues. How many journalists do you know? How did you come to this conclusion?
Most of them are craven ideologues. How many journalists do you know? How did you come to this conclusion? How many journalists do I read? Lots....enough where I can safely come to that conclusion. I'm sure we can both list some unbiased journalists. I know Lois from this Forum. She's a journalist. She's heavily biased. Remember your Matt Taibbi article that you posted? Heavily biased.
My caffeine is just starting to kick in Vy. I was reacting to your post. Now that I’ve thought it through, you’re right, even though you are painting with a broad brush. Most journalists these days are an embarrassment to the profession. Thinking back on it, few of the journalists I have known have studied critical thinking, and many of them swallow all types off bullshit from astrology to alternative medicine to whatever political ideology they prefer.

But that's just my bias towards what passes for journalism. And obviously there are straight reporters out there. The way the country is divided(dysfunctional levels) I guess it's inevitable.
Speaking of the liberal press here’s an interesting, dare I say illuminating, article from Salon.
Trump as the insecure playground bully
SATURDAY, FEB 20, 2016 3:45 PM UTC Donald Trump has a secret shame: Every playground bully has a toxic fuel Playground thugs play to the crowd but they're always afraid of something, an expert tells us. I think that Trump’s relationship with the media is more like he has figured out how to wag the dog. (The media being the dog in this metaphor.) And Trump is wagging that dog for everything that it is worth.
Speaking of the liberal press here's an interesting, dare I say illuminating, article from Salon. Trump as the insecure playground bullyThis could be a whole other thread, in which we speculate over what Trump's secret shame might be.SATURDAY, FEB 20, 2016 3:45 PM UTC Donald Trump has a secret shame: Every playground bully has a toxic fuel Playground thugs play to the crowd but they're always afraid of something, an expert tells us. Much of the younger, online media like Gawker seems to be leftist, but they're really just click bait; and crap like Salon and the Guardian seem to have moved into that territory also. I just remembered this: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/a-note-about-our-coverage-of-donald-trumps-campaign_us_55a8fc9ce4b0896514d0fd66 The Huff Post admitted they would not cover Trump's campaign as serious news. No big deal - it's not like anyone really respects the HP.
and crap like Salon and the Guardian seem to have moved into that territory also.why are they crap?
and crap like Salon and the Guardian seem to have moved into that territory also.why are they crap?Because of their stupid content and lame PC writers.
Theres a troll twitter account that parodies Salon.com: https://twitter.com/Salondotcom?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^author
Its hard to tell the difference!
It’s a feeding frenzy.
I think that the biggest problem with our “news” medias, is that they almost ALL have become deliverers of entertainment moreso than deliverers of critical information. Hence the metaphor of a “feeding frenzy”, I think applies if one thinks of the entertainment content that is part of most news as a sugar filled food. (It’s not very good for you, but you are more likely to gobble it up, excessively.)
But it is also problematic that some of the medias have become slanted toward delivering memes from the left or the right. Personally I think that the left-slanted media memes are typically more reality based than the right-slanted media memes. And I think our right-slanted medias are also much more effective in perpetuating their memes in the general population, despite those memes more often conflicting (even sometimes drastically so) with reality.
You’ve hit on a big part of it, Tim. Back when we were young news was a public service and not expected to make a profit. These days there’s good money in the news, hence all the click-bait headlines you see on Internet sites. i’d be embarrassed to write that crap. Another problem is deregulation during the Reagan era. Just a few corporations own all the major news outlets so we aren’t provided a variety of views, just a few carefully scripted frames. Then there is the problem of journalism education in college. Students learn how to construct stories, how to meet deadlines, and how to use their publishing media, but learning nothing of critical thinking, science, or history beyond the required courses. Journalism schools are trade schools, not liberal arts schools, and it shows in the dreck passing for journalism these days.
T and D, if mid atlantic were half as good at explaining his position he might possibly make sense.
