Texas Gun Law--More Insanity?

Texas reaction to Waco gunfight: one day after the carnage, Texas legislators went back to work on a proposal that would make it easier to carry weapons openly in public. The governor has promised to sign open carry legislation if it lands on his desk. “Gun-fighting, in other words, is being promoted as a solution to the violence” (Gary Silverman, FT).
I’ve been struggling to try to understand the psychology of suicide bombers. Now I realize it is the normal human condition not only among Islamists but among Americans. Except we don’t even believe we’ll enter paradise when we’ve committed suicide - we just want to commit suicide in the name of the second amendment. On a scale of idiocy we are actually a notch below the jihadists.
Your opinion?

Yeah, pretty soon, it looks like licensed gun owners, in Texas, will be allowed to walk around with holstered hand guns. This bill, however, was in the works, long before the Waco biker incident. The last I heard, it hit a snag in regards to whether police would be allowed to approach and ask an open carrier, to see their license, unless they had a reasonable suspicion of a law being broken.
Either way, it gets passed, I can only imagine that it will present a whole new, deadly, challenge for police officers.
Let us now bow our heads and give thanks to the NRA for making Texas what it once was, again… a wild wild west gun toting society.

I was under the impression Texas already allowed open carry for handguns.
At any rate, whats the big deal? In Texas you can already carry concealed handguns, carry loaded guns in your vehicle, openly carry rifles and shotguns, and carry any weapon you want on your property.

It won’t make matters worse.

Well, looks like we'll find out. I think it will present problems. Ask yourself why someone who can conceal carry would want to open carry. Probable answer: to flaunt their deadly power. Flaunting deadly power is generally not a good idea.

Yes it will. Open carry means they can carry them anywhere, on their own property or elsewhere. Would you feel safe walking down any street in any town in Texas? Lois
