Stats are higher than ever, the numbers are not good or bad. So, question, is the recent activity better? Moving in the right direction?

It is a conundrum.
A large participation makes for spirited exchange but runs the risk of ad hominem.
I believe you are doing an excellent job of keeping exchanges at a civil level. If that costs us a few posters so be it, but any serious student or practitioner of the humanities will appreciate a liberally moderated forum.
I like to think of CFI forum as a means for curious and knowledgeable people to have a comfortable home for discussion of a range of local and world events in a neutral setting.
