Some plain talk about economic

This has been a hit on social media lately. I didn’t have cable but the show comes up in my feeds. Some practical solutions included, not just restatements of the problem

If we collected the taxes we are owed, JUST the ones we are OWED, that would net about $175 billion a year, lifting people out of poverty would cost around $177 billion a year. This is only 1% of our GDP, meaning its effect on the economy would be minimal.

Europeans have a term “American Style Deprivation”. I would love to hear more about that.

Even when something is done, like Biden’s program to end evictions and raise kids out of poverty, people don’t talk about it much.

He says something about rich receiving money from the government. I’d like to see the numbers behind that.

Build worker power with housing choices and easier credit. Shift the labor movement to sectors, instead of attempting to unionize one building at a time. Put workers on corporate boards.

Different indices, not the stock market (or GDP), instead the number of people who went to a food pantry, lost their home, or don’t have a warm coat.

The failure of the Left is that we “know where our organic cucumber came from” but we don’t know how much the farm hand was paid picking it.

Jon remarks that calling our congressman isn’t the answer. Desmond says we, the people who are benefitting a little, need to put more skin in the game, meaning talking about the issues to our friends. Desmond points out the return on investment that we get from helping kids eat as compared to cutting corporate tax rates.

We record every Daily Show. Monday’s is best, of course. That was a great interview.
We also find John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight shows quite educational.

Oh if wishes were horses and I had tons of money, then someone at Democratic headquarters would listen to this suggestion. We could talk it around until a big wig decides to take the idea for themself and make it happen. Politics at its best.
Now it’s the proverbial …, never mind. Now, if you think it’s a good idea, pass it along.

DNC’s never ending assault of political donation demands have become counter productive. We need ideas and community and encouragement.

What’s worse is the melodrama, rarely do those Democrat texts communicate any constructive information or reason to engage.

We need substantive helpful information. We need something with teeth that engages.

One suggestion, why not a private Democratic online discussion forum. The DNC could communicate directly with interested voters; create a platform to inform, engage, motivate and help us network directly with likeminded.

Give us something to help build a little tangible feelings of solidarity.

WE the people need a well organized - and superbly moderated online Democratic Party Members Only Discussion Forum.
Democratic Party Members only - clear concise intelligent guidelines.
Participants fill out applications, with honest identity & self chosen screen-names.
Agree to abide by the established guidelines, or leave.
Good moderating will be key to success.

Bill it as the “Democratic Party Caucus Forum” - in honor of the memory of our one time proud tradition of lively Precinct Caucus Meetings.
