Russian malware

(CNN)A Vermont electric company said Friday it had found on a company laptop the same kind of malicious software that US authorities believe was used by Russian hackers in an attempt to influence November’s election.
Burlington Electric said it found the code after utility companies nationwide were sent an alert by the Department of Homeland Security.
The company, which serves 19,600 customers in Vermont, said the malware was on a laptop that is not connected to the organization’s power grid systems.
“Our team is working with federal officials to trace this malware and prevent any other attempts to infiltrate utility systems,” spokesman Mike Kanarick said.
The federal government refers to the malicious cyber activity as Grizzly Steppe.
The Washington Post first reported the existence of the malicious software.

Whether it would do any good to change passwords I can’t say. They can apparently get them anytime they wish.

I think we can assume Russian hackers can go just about anywhere they want, they were probably in the DNC servers for up to a year before they started releasing information they stole there.

News of the hack of the Democratic National Committee first broke in mid-June. That’s when Crowdstrike, a firm that analyzes threats to network security, revealed that the DNC had called it in to inspect the party’s servers, where it found “two separate Russian intelligence-affiliated adversaries present in the DNC network." Crowdstrike released a comprehensive report of its findings on June 14, which accompanied a Washington Post article detailing the attacks. One of the hacking groups, Crowdstrike found, had access to the DNC servers for almost a year.
The following week, two cybersecurity firms, Fidelis Cybersecurity and Mandiant, independently corroborated Crowdstrike’s assessment that Russian hackers infiltrated DNC networks, having found that the two groups that hacked into the DNC used malware and methods identical to those used in other attacks attributed to the same Russian hacking groups.
Nixon had to resign in disgrace for using the CIA to burgle the Democrats but Trump gets to be President for using the Russians to do the same. Tell me what's wrong with this picture.

Republicans are special.
Republicans are special.
Yes, but Hillary had her own server, only evil people have their own servers. That's why trump had to be president. Forget the fact that he's a pathological liar, swindler, racist, misogynistic sex offender, traitor...

Obama’s Russian Hacking Retaliation Is Biggest “Since the Cold War" https://www.wired.com/2016/12/obama-russia-hacking-sanctions-diplomats/ The US will expel 35 Russian diplomats believed to have acted as intelligence agents, and ban Russian personnel from two Russian-government compounds that the White House says were used for Russian intelligence gathering from American soil. Finally, the White House has expanded the scope of the president’s powers from an earlier executive order, giving the president the power to impose sanctions not only in response to cyberattacks that affect national security, but also against anyone “determined to be responsible for tampering, altering, or causing the misappropriation of information with the purpose or effect of interfering with or undermining election processes or institutions." “It’s extraordinary step to interfere in the democratic process," said a White House official in a background phone call with reporters Thursday. “They need to be held accountable for that…This is an attack on our democratic system, and we’re responding in kind." Immediate Action Obama’s White House, meanwhile, isn’t waiting for Trump’s approval. In addition to the 35 “diplomats" being asked to leave the US, the new sanctions blacklist specifically names five Russian organizations and six individuals. It includes not only Russia’s FSB and GRU intelligence agencies, but also its St. Petersburg-based intelligence agency known as the Special Technology Center, a security contractor known as Zor Security, and an innocuously named agency in Moscow known as the Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization Professional Association of Designers of Data Processing Systems. Among the six named men, four are GRU senior officials. The other two are a Russian and a Latvian, whom the White House describes as “notorious cybercriminals" responsible for a series of financially motivated attacks against American companies. Those are in addition to the 35 Russian “diplomats"—in fact believed to be working as intelligence operatives.
It is telling what our Russian Obligate president has to say about that
Several hours after the White House announced its sanctions, Trump released an official response that seemed at least open to hearing the case against Russia out. “It’s time for our country to move on to bigger and better things. Nevertheless, in the interest of our country and its great people, I will meet with leaders of the intelligence community next week in order to be updated on the facts of this situation," the Trump statement says.
Is ass hole about an accurate description for that unAmerican greedy sack of .... maybe next week he'll have time to listen to his intelligence community advisors. oh dear this will get ugly

Does anyone remember when Russia was our greatest enemy? And I should point out, Republicans were the most rabid anti-Communists in the country. Now, suddenly, they are falling all over themselves to support and welcome Russians with open arms. Russia also has a large percentage of Muslims. How will that play out with Trump’s anti-Muslim rhetoric?

Yes, I remember. I also remember that Japan and Germany were also our main enemy and Russia was our ally. The walls came down, the country broke up. Russia is now maybe more Christian than the United States. I’m glade Trump understands these facts. Do you realize that it is Russia trying to stop the fighting and bring peace in Syria today? And it is the United States that is creating the war there.
There are some other facts that you should think about. Having taken a class on computer security at one of the major computer colleges. Computers are the most secure data system that there is. Anyone that thinks differently, don’t know shit about computers. But our government has required computers systems to be made insecure.
The reason is that the same secret departments that are stimulating the wars around the world are also the same secret departments that have gotten congress to abolish the computer’s security system so that they can enter any computer in the world at any time. Thank god for the human factor, namely Mr. Snowden that showed and proved that they are doing just that.
It is just totally unbelievable how narrow minded a whole group of people can be. I am talking about the Left’s thinking. They don’t give a rat’s ass about the computer worms that were designed by us and Israel to meltdown Iran’s nuclear power plants. That worm was called Stuxnet. When the earthquake hit Japan the Stuxnet worm had found its way into the Fukushima nuclear power plants. The Left never gave two cents worth of thought about why we did not track and monitor the nuclear fallout in the Pacific Ocean. Which shows that all their talk about Climate Change and caring for the earth is mostly a lie. We have local fishermen catching fish along the American shores and having them checked out and finding radiation. Yet, we just passed the most regulations on the protection of the catching of fish that there has ever been. But never one word about whether these fish are safe to eat because of radiation from Fukushima. Not logical. It just shows that the cover-ups and protection of the secret departments are of much more concerned by the people in power than the safety of the regular people. Which should make people wonder if the secret departments are the ones in power.
Keep saying what you want about Trump. It just shows a very thin layer of self-interest is mainly what the Left is about. The Hillary’s Left seems to be psychologically controlled by the goals of our secret departments. After all, the extra income every professor is after is a paycheck from one of these secret departments. Making their whole teachings process about the needs of the secret departments goals.

And now you are trying to make a mountain out of a computer breach that only really showed that the DNC was crooked, nothing more. Would you be doing the same for the RNC?
Point being, get a life and think for yourself. Stop posting all these bull shit stories and then praising them like some kind of daily religious act. The only results seems to be that the posting junkies get their fix and assurances that they seem to need from these illogical stories that do nothing to ever fix anything. Ask yourself, do you know a single working Trump supporter that cares about the hacking? The only ones are the swamp trash like John Glenn and the other GOP leaders that are backing the secret departments. If you cared at all about America and freedom, you would asking things like how it is even possible that a Russian could even get into our system. And it is no secret because the computer trade magazines have been telling us for decades that the government is the cause of our security problems. Yet, you blame it on the Russians, unbelievable!

Mike. Let 'em wallow in that stuff. Who cares? It's our time baby. We gonna Make America Great Again! Whew! The Dems are sinking hard. And they are going to double down on so much crap. It is going to be hilarious to watch.

Was our greatest enemy? It's possible - I'd say likely - that Russia never stopped being Americas greatest enemy. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk/6163502.stm
Appearing alongside high-profile opponents of Mr Putin, Mr Litvinenko continued to make allegations about his former bosses. Perhaps most notably, he alleged that al-Qaeda number two Ayman al-Zawahiri was trained by the FSB in Dagestan in the years before the 9/11 attacks.
http://www.businessinsider.com/exploring-al-qaedas-murky-connection-to-russian-intelligence-2014-6
The murkiest of these relations, however, has been the connection between al-Qa’ida and Russian intelligence. While the outlines of the story have been known for years, and even admitted by Moscow and the mujahidin, details remain elusive. Moreover, asking important questions about this relationship seems to be an issue few appear interested in probing deeply, even in the United States. That Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri, bin Laden’s right-hand man and the leader of the global jihad movement since bin Laden’s death in May 2011, spent almost a half-year in the mid-1990s in the custody of Russian intelligence is admitted by both sides and is a matter of public record.[3] Just as significant, Zawahiri’s Russian sojourn occurred at a pivotal point in the development of al-Qa’ida; the shift in strategy, resulting in attacks on the “far enemy" (i.e. the United States), the road leading to 9/11, occurred after Zawahiri’s imprisonment by the Russians.

Yet a recent investigation conducted by Novaya Gazeta, one of the few independent newspapers left in Russia, complicates this cozy tale of counterterrorist cooperation. Based on extensive fieldwork in one village in the North Caucasus, reporter Elena Milashina has concluded that the “Russian special services have controlled" the flow of jihadists into Syria, where they have lately joined up not only with ISIS but other radical Islamist factions. In other words, Russian officials are adding to the ranks of terrorists which the Russian government has deemed a collective threat to the security and longevity of its dictatorial ally on the Mediterranean, Bashar al-Assad. It may sound paradoxical—helping the enemy of your friend—but the logic is actually straightforward: Better the terrorists go abroad and fight in Syria than blow things up in Russia. Penetrating and co-opting terrorism also has a long, well-attested history in the annals of Chekist tradecraft. Milashina makes her case study the village of Novosasitili in Dagestan’s Khasavyurt district. Since 2011, nearly 1 percent of the total population of Novosasitili has gone to Syria—22 out of 2,500 residents. Of that figure, five were killed and five have returned home. But they didn’t leave Russia without outside help. The FSB established a “green corridor" to allow them to migrate first to Turkey, and then to Syria. (Russians, including those living in the North Caucasus, can catch any of the daily non-stop flights to Istanbul and visit Turkey without a visa.)

Said like a real "leftie". http://www.centerforinquiry.net/forums/viewthread/17144/P15/
Oh ok. You need to cut back on the stronger varieties of Left-Wing Kool-Aid. Little sips are ok, but you’re getting drunk off it. This is coming from a left winger.
Think it's all possible that America's most dishonest leader attracts the most dishonest to him? The truth will out in the end no matter how hard the fundamentally dishonest try and twist it. And Vyazma and Mike Yohe are the standard bearers for the dishonest here, Vyazma even lies about who he actually is. Us actual lefties aren't fascists....

I think with posters like Mike Yohe and Vyazma it isn’t just the fact that they’re so often highly inaccurate, it’s that they’re inaccurate in a highly consistent fashion. As if they’re working off a script, you’d have to to be so consistent in the fabrication of “facts” that they constantly engage in.
Which raises the question, who is writing this script?

Was our greatest enemy? It's possible - I'd say likely - that Russia never stopped being Americas greatest enemy. Right now our greatest enemy is the United States without a doubt. Our goal as a people is to protect the constitution. Which right now is not being done by the people. You know the constitution is not being protected when you have secret courts, secret judges and secret police. Yes, I said secret police. The ninth district just threw out a case because of the government was spying on the people. And nine other cases were dismissed. It seems that the computer systems and phone systems are doing data mining around the clock on the general public. When the computer finds something of interest it is sent to the Army analysts. There are over 500 computer analysts just working on the movement of drugs in the US alone. That is nothing more that secret spying, being done by the government. Call them what you want. But they are nothing more than secret police.

Man I’m loving the ignore button, should have it used it ages ago on people who are clearly only here to twist not discuss the facts.
