Reliable secondary sources for Humanities

hi everyone, I want to understand, which method to use to understand the quality of a text and be able to select quality works (reliable secondary sources)?
Are academic and peer-reviewed publications, scholarly monographs the most reliable secondary sources?

@marin,

Welcome, marin. You came to the right place for the answers to your queries. Our resident expert on the subject, Lausten North, will attend to you shortly.

My go to source for how to examine a question is Public Library of Critical Thinking Resources

I’m not sure if there is a guide specific to choosing good studies/text, but I do some of these things:

check if the study has been redacted

find the full name and author and search it, sometimes there will be articles that help explain to non-experts

who has published? is it a reputable place like Nature.com or some place with an agenda

Has it been cited by other scholars and are those scholars reputable
