Science cannot exist without data. One can have practical confidence in the accuracy data if it is independently reproducible. Such precision is problematic when data is the testimony of humans. Confidence is further eroded when the reporter has a political agenda. Since scientific truth is bounded by uncertainty, regardless of the field, the addition of the inherent flaws of human testimony to any report of data provides ample reason to be skeptical of its accuracy. Not withstanding these concerns, we have to muddle through emergencies by responding, with the humility that comes with acknowledging our limitations. I believe that this humility is most sincere when we respect those that disagree with us. For me, the first step in showing convincing respect is to eschew stereotyping. Racism and ethnocentrism, whether positive or negative, are the result of stereotyping (and should be so defined). I submit that the certainty of ideologies is an attack on the approach I am suggesting. Accordingly, I see no way to solving the problems at the base of wars in the middle east until we replace the rigidity of ideological approaches with practical (“tinkering” if you will) approaches. In other words, small steps while maintaining mutual respect.

My first thought to your posting was, you make a good case to why we need Trump back in office. Trump put a stop to wars and was solving the wars in the middle east. Instead of a US program. He involved the middle east with a practical business type of steps.
I must admit that as a practicing businessman Trump should have an advantage over any ideologue who has replaced reason with faith. You seem to believe that Trump applies his practicality effectively. Do you believe that Joe Biden is an ideologue? If so, your choice is clear.

He has always been a moderate with a 55 year record of public service in accordance with the rules of the Establishment Clause.

Small steps to what end? What if the ends differ as in the case with Palestinians and the jewish settlers ? How does the international community resolve this impasse ?
the US state department has come to the rescue and issued the following check list for legal clarity:
Is your target hospital in one of the countries we’ve designated evil?
Would the victims be mostly Muslims and/or people of colour?
Have you pretended there is a tunnel beneath the hospital, or some sort of military presence?
Are you called Israel rather than Russia?
There are a few small differences.
Palestine harbors terrorists that want to kill all Israelies and the only way to fight them is in Palestine.
Ukraine does not want to kill any Russians. Its Russians that want to kill Ukrainians for greed.
The US haboured 9/11 terrorists. The nazis in ukraine have been well documented in independent and mainstream media. Israel political class including its leader has publically announced their policy of exterminating Palestinians by death and ethnic cleansing. The US political class announced that it is prepared to fight russia to the last ukrainian

Joe is a politician. Not an ideologues. Name one project he has gotten right in 50 years. Trump is a businessman. Can you name one business that Trump has made money at?
I agree with all but Israel exterminating the Palestinians. The Palestinians in the West Bank are not having the same problems as those ruled by Hamas. The Palestinians living in Jerusalem are not saying that.
