hello there everyone! there is a strange story that really bothers me and i would like some help! there was this woman Johanna Michaelsen whom claimed that she had worked with a “real” psychic surgeon, and not ones debunked by randi, named pachita whom was able to cut people supposedly without any blood and transfer livers and other organs and other non-sense. And later Johanna claimed that all this psychic surgury stuff was actually satanic! so can anyone help me with some debunking of this woman’s claims? ive found some stuff and pictures of pachita online supposedly doing her surgeries and i dont know if she was just faking with these, but i would really like some help from people on this forum with a small investgation?
ive found some pics http://www.elsextosol.org/?p=277 i think they could be easily faked do you?
I haven’t seen anything recently, but Public Television had a great series about ten or fifteen years ago about the psychic surgeons in the Philippines who did just what you said. The “surgeons” wouldn’t allow themselves to be photographed during their “surgery” so the investigators mounted hidden cameras. What they showed were that these guys were really skilled magicians who could palm cotton saturated with blood and make it appear to come from the patient. When the people were able to get samples they found that it was not human but rather chicken blood.
I recall a guy in high school who was amazing. He did things with cards that were clearly impossible and he wouldn’t show anyone how he did it. Fortunately, he needed help in advanced algebra and I spent quite a bit of time tutoring him. He showed me how the tricks were done, but I still couldn’t believe how he could manipulate those card so skillfully, but I watched hime do it as he showed me.
Unfortunately he wasn’t quite good enough, because ten years later I read in the local paper that he had been shot in a hotel room in Saint Louis during a card game.

i also found a whole load of ancedotals online, but would those also be considered unreliable?

A “real” psychic surgeon? Is that like a “real” unicorn?
Something like that, TA.

You can see such tricks on stage every day. That there is a book means nothing. You need objective evidence that it is anything more than sleight of hand parlor tricks. If you get a chance to communicate with her or her handlers, suggest she try for James Randi's million dollar prize. Listen carefully to her response. Lois
well its too bad that pachita died in 1979, and Johanna Michaelsen still maintains that Pachita was a “real” psychic surgeon
And it’s amazing how many christians are sure they “saw” the mother mary or jesus. Unfortunately, many of us “see” what we are preconditioned to see and accept.

Every psychic surgeon most likely has people who claim the surgeon is "real." There are people who claim homeopaths are "real." too. And faith healers. Probably vampires, too.
Don’t forget chupacabra.
Chupacabra? Is that like Cthulhu? :-/
From wikipedia]. It’s amazing what people can imagine when they see a mangy coyote.
