on the beautiful side

@Xain: Because feelings aren’t a good argument for the state of reality.
Come on Xain, why not go back and reread @3point14rat February 14, 2020 at 2:14 pm - in particular the last paragraph.

That’s the most frustrating thing about trying to dialogue with you, you never pay attention to, absorb, or acknowledge what others have said.

On the other hand, we wouldn’t be having this fascinating discussion without Xain, fascinating because of the interesting voices and ideas being shared. Thankfully not just for your benefit, I think we like reading what each other thinks, how we overlap, how we are different and all that interesting humanistic jazz. I’m sure enjoying it, learning a few things too.

@Xain: because they aren’t who you are, they are just temporary weather.
Think of what you are saying.

What part of us isn’t temporary? Does real mean “not temporary” to you? Seriously. Care to answer, or will you dodge?

Feelings come and go and as Buddhism would argue they are not you because they are transient. If they were you then they would be permanent:

Yes, well said 3pt.

You’re kidding right? What we say doesn’t overlap. He places importance on feelings and I showed how that’s not true. It’s like when people are asked “who am I” and all they list are a bunch of temporary states. If those where who you are then they wouldn’t fade

@Xain Feelings come and go and as Buddhism would argue they are not you because they are transient. If they were you then they would be permanent:
That was a dodge. Are you imply that any part of "you" is permanent? Or should be "permanent"?

What is your objection to transience? Can you explain?

It’s not a dodge its the answer to the question. If something where truly who you are then you wouldn’t have to find it, it would just be. As they say if you weren’t born with it or your parents didn’t give it to you then it’s not who you are. People often site job titles or past times, but they would say these are not who you are for they change and had you never encountered them you would not be doing so. No one is a football player they just play football, and yes there is a difference.

As they say if you weren’t born with it or your parents didn’t give it to you then it’s not who you are.
Who says that?
