Murdoch turn's on US Traitor Trump - our Russian Obligate President

Yeah Russia spread so much disinformation about Covid 19, they made a vaccine for it !!

Oops!!

@anton Actually, that alleged vaccine had some ethical issues, starting with it wasn’t thoroughly tested for safety and efficacy, much less effectiveness.

It is. Stage 3 clinical trials now.

@anton if it’s in stage 3 that means it hasn’t passed those tests yet, so at the time when they released the news on it, it hasn’t been tested what all that I said above and still hasn’t. Their vaccine won’t be complete, until it passes that stage. So what I said stands.

Sorry sputnik v vaccine phase 3 commenced in August 2020 involving 6, 000 volunters . A double blind randomised 40,000 person trial to commence now

Only those in high risk groups get the vsccine now. General public next year.

Efficacy meaured at 90 % as published in the Lancet. Russia willing to share vaccine technology. No one else is.

Over 1 billion shots have already been ordered worldwid

@anton and you believe Russia? Not even WHO, the AMA, BMA and others trust them on this vaccine. All one has to do is read NEJM, JAMA, BMJ, and the WHO website. Russia is the leader in misinformation and propaganda. And no, one billion shots have not been distributed or ordered. Not sure where you get your info, but it’s not from reliable sources.

Sounds all like cold war propaganda by you.

You really want to go there?

Missing point is its a bit of an own goal if russia is spreading misinformation on covid 19 (euphanisium for corona virus deniers) and R& D into a vaccine.

Rather silly attack here

Anton, I noticed you didn’t offer any links to support your case.

I took a look and here’s the most recent thing my few minutes produced:

Mistrust Grows for Russia’s Coronavirus Vaccine – Poll Nov. 2, 2020

More Russians distrust their homegrown coronavirus vaccine now than they did in the summer, a new independent poll cited by Russia’s Open Media news website said Monday as authorities raise hopes of mass vaccination in the coming months.

The share of Russians unwilling to vaccinate against Covid-19 has risen to 59% in October from nearly 54% in August, according to the Levada Center pollster.

Mistrust for Russia’s Covid-19 vaccine grew most among residents of Moscow. Just 31% of respondents in the capital answered yes in October when asked if they would be willing to vaccinate, down from nearly 40% in August. Only 29% of college-educated respondents said they would vaccinate, down from 36% in August. …

Russia’s Coronavirus Vaccine Faces Production Problems, Putin Says Oct. 30, 2020

themoscowtimes - com/2020/10/30/russias-coronavirus-vaccine-faces-production-problems-putin-says-a71904

Russia’s coronavirus vaccine faces equipment shortages that could delay it from entering mass production, President Vladimir Putin said Thursday as reports suggested that developers have paused clinical trials due to the shortages.

Staff at eight of the 25 trial clinics in Moscow said that they temporarily halted the vaccination of new volunteers with Sputnik V, Reuters reported Thursday, citing some of them as saying that they had used up the allocated doses. An unnamed representative of the contract research organization helping oversee the two-shot vaccine’s trials, Crocus Medical, told the news agency it expects vaccinations to restart by around Nov. 10. …

Of course, when you have a totalitarian government it’s easy to ignore all the contrarians and they can (and do) slap the malicious medical scientific ignoramuses out there.

Here in American our Commander in Chief is one of know-nothing malicious vandals, supported by a prideful know-nothing Republican Party that has no conception of honest science and in facts hates expertise. Without the backstabbing, deliberate lying, power-politicking for profits over care, we could have achieve even more amazing results.

Our landlady, and good friend is a Russian, who’s in constant contact with her family, so I’ve actually had a bit of insider updates on how they are handling COVID. I’m more impressed than not. At least they have national health care.

You’ll not find a bunch of belligerent idiots marching around without masks! No sir those idiots are set straight right away.

You have symptoms, they are on top of it. With mandatory quarantine, and folks checking to make sure you stay in quarantine and that you get the care and food you need. If you need to go to a hospital they take you in and care for you. When you are released, you are done, no bill, get that, you don’t have turn over your life saving to the hospital.

Imagine a national medical system that wasn’t dedicated to maximizing profits and minimizing expenditures (well unless it’s for executive bonuses).

Back to that vaccine,

Researchers highlight ‘questionable’ data in Russian coronavirus vaccine trial results

Open letter flags results that appear to be duplicated and calls for access to the underlying data on the first COVID-19 vaccine to be approved for widespread use.

Alison Abbott - SEPTEMBER 15, 2020

https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-02619-4

"… In an open letter to the study authors, who published the trial results1 this month in The Lancet, the researchers highlight values that seem to be duplicated, and warn that the paper presents its results only as box plots without providing a detailed breakdown of the data on which they are based. “While the research described in this study is potentially significant, the presentation of the data raises several concerns which require access to the original data to fully investigate”, the letter says. It has so far been signed by almost 40 scientists.

The trials tested two slightly different viral-vector vaccines — which use genetically engineered adenoviruses to produce coronavirus proteins in the body — on 76 volunteers. The results indicated that the vaccine produced a strong immune response, and that side effects were limited to mild, short-term effects, such as irritation at injection sites or headaches, in a few people. In August, the Russian authorities approved the vaccine, called Sputnik V, for widespread use, and have said that it could be available to the general public within months.

This fast-track approval caused consternation among researchers, who argued that the decision to roll out the vaccine before larger safety and efficacy trials had been completed was dangerously rushed. …

Rather silly attack here

Oh so you are expecting consistent messaging? Putin the poker player and world-master at political chess. Nah, he wouldn’t tell his public one thing, and his in-house experts something else. How silly would that be. :- |

Russia is the leader in misinformation and propaganda
Oh and why are you jumping to the conclusion that this "misinformation" she speaks of is COVID denial?

Seemed to me like Mriana was referring to ‘misinformation about the vaccine’.

So seriously, who is being the silly one here Anton.

What a coincidence! I also looked into the claims of the effectiveness of the Russian vaccine! I found this article:

https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/04/health/russia-vaccine-immune-response-intl/index.html

It is looking pretty legit. It says that all SEVENTY SIX participants in phases 1 and 2 of the testing developed an immune response. It does OFTEN cause side effects, but they are MOSTLY mild. 50% developed fevers, 42% developed headaches, 28% developed weakness and 24% developed joint pain. And most Russians don’t trust it. But I’m sure anton is right. It’s good, it’s all fine. Putin is, after all, known for his generosity worldwide. And not just vaccines. He is known for giving his critics and political opponents all kinds of things, most recently a Novichok family of nerve agent. What a generous man. You can’t just get that at Walgreens. That’s a hell of a gift. We should absolutely trust Putin’s Russia at its word for absolutely no reason whatsoever. It’s not like he’s meddling across the entire world to destabilize democracies worldwide.

@citizenschallengev3 yes, I was talking about misinformation concerning the vaccine.

COVID is out of control here in the U.S. and not once have I denied it. I saw it coming in December because I was watching what was happening in China. At first, I thought it was germ warfare and then I realized, whatever the virus was, it was going to spread all over the world and we were in trouble. I’ve known this since December when it broke out in Wuhan and cannot fathom why any responsible leader of any country didn’t start to do something to fight the virus coming to their country. The dotard did nothing and is still doing nothing. As a matter of fact, he threw out the multi-page Pandemic Playbook all because he didn’t like President Obama, doesn’t care about other human beings, and most of all, he doesn’t read. The dotard is also a sociopath, which also plays into the mess he’s leaving this country in for President Biden and future presidents to clean up and as President Biden is doing his damnedest to clean up as much as he can in four years, the dotard will be spewing crap on the media, calling it President Biden’s fault, when in reality he did it. The dotard really needs to go to prison for his crimes. Russia is also mixed up in this mess too, but as it relates to COVID, I can’t say. The thing is, there is a lot of misinformation about the Russian vaccine and the dotard would probably love to have U.S. citizens take the Russian vaccine, but it has yet to be proven safe and effective. It hasn’t even gone through the final stage of testing yet and Putin’s own daughter came down with a fever and other symptoms after receiving it. How is that safe? Sounds about as safe as the first Polio vaccine that was distributed. The second Polio vaccine was safer due to more stringent testing for safety and efficacy.

In 1954, clinical trials using the Salk vaccine and a placebo began on nearly two million American schoolchildren. In April 1955, it was announced that the vaccine was effective and safe, and a nationwide inoculation campaign began. Shortly thereafter, tragedy struck in the Western and mid-Western United States, when more than 200,000 people were injected with a defective vaccine manufactured at Cutter Laboratories of Berkeley, California. Thousands of polio cases were reported, 200 children were left paralyzed and 10 died.

The incident delayed production of the vaccine, but new polio cases dropped to under 6,000 in 1957, the first year after the vaccine was widely available. In 1962, an oral vaccine developed by Polish-American researcher Albert Sabin became available, greatly facilitating distribution of the polio vaccine. Today, there are just a handful of polio cases in the United States every year, and most of these are “imported” by Americans from developing nations where polio is still a problem.

Early polio vaccine projects (1935) Unfortunately, initial trials were poorly executed and caused great harm to those involved. Teams of researchers in New York and Philadelphia both administered vaccines containing active poliovirus to tens of thousands of living subjects, including children and chimpanzees. Many subjects became severely ill or paralyzed, experienced allergic reactions, and even died of polio.
Vaccination programs suspended (1955) When the U.S. Surgeon General questioned the safety of the trial vaccine, all polio vaccination programs were brought to a halt. An investigation revealed that it was responsible for 11 deaths, and hundreds of cases of paralysis. Apparently, some of the vaccines may not have been produced according to Salk’s methods and still contained active type 1 poliovirus.

That said, I got both the oral and the injection in the 60s, after the first failure. Why both? I guess my mother wanted to make very sure I didn’t get Polio, so I got both Salk’s and Sabin’s polio vaccines. I got all my vaccinations, as did my sons when they were kids. I’m a huge supporter of vaccines- if they are thoroughly tested for safety. All I’m saying is, without proper trials and testing, the safety and efficacy is in question and Russia is notorious for spreading misinformation. IMHO, if people are getting sick with even a mild case of COVID after receiving it, it’s not a very good vaccine to be giving people. We must be very careful with this vaccine, because we don’t want to cause more harm than good in the process of getting a reliable vaccine.

@widdershins

It says that all SEVENTY SIX participants in phases 1 and 2 of the testing developed an immune response. It does OFTEN cause side effects, but they are MOSTLY mild. 50% developed fevers, 42% developed headaches, 28% developed weakness and 24% developed joint pain.

No it’s not fine and I don’t call those mild side effects when it mimics some of the symptoms of COVID itself. Russian citizens are right not to trust it. Unless you are being sarcastic. I just reread what you said and thought you might be being sarcastic.

It was definitely sarcasm. It has been tested on fewer than 100 people with a very high rate of side effects which, what a coincidence, mimic what would potentially happen if you just gave 76 people Covid. Someone was touting “Oh, it’s in phase 3!” While that certainly sounds impressive, if you said it the other way, “It has been tested on seventy six people already!” it certainly gives one pause about lining up to get one. Especially when the side effects look suspiciously like what would happen if you just infected 76 people so that they would generate an immune response.

Exactly @widdershins ! You understand exactly what I’m saying about the Russian vaccine.

“He is known for giving his critics and political opponents all kinds of things, most recently a Novichok family of nerve agent.”

Yeah its such a deadly toxin, none of targets died. Those dumb Russians.

Couldnt the West make up a better more believable story??

Widdershins - have you got a link to your claim that most Russians dont trust it. I have for the West.

The study was published in the lancet

https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(20)31866-3/fulltext

Findings
Between June 18 and Aug 3, 2020, we enrolled 76 participants to the two studies (38 in each study). In each study, nine volunteers received rAd26-S in phase 1, nine received rAd5-S in phase 1, and 20 received rAd26-S and rAd5-S in phase 2. Both vaccine formulations were safe and well tolerated. The most common adverse events were pain at injection site (44 [58%]), hyperthermia (38 [50%]), headache (32 [42%]), asthenia (21 [28%]), and muscle and joint pain (18 [24%]). Most adverse events were mild and no serious adverse events were detected. All participants produced antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 glycoprotein. At day 42, receptor binding domain-specific IgG titres were 14 703 with the frozen formulation and 11 143 with the lyophilised formulation, and neutralising antibodies were 49·25 with the frozen formulation and 45·95 with the lyophilised formulation, with a seroconversion rate of 100%. Cell-mediated responses were detected in all participants at day 28, with median cell proliferation of 2·5% CD4+ and 1·3% CD8+ with the frozen formulation, and a median cell proliferation of 1·3% CD4+ and 1·1% CD8+ with the lyophilised formulation.
Interpretation

Okay, if you’re just going to pretend to be stupid I really can’t have a conversation with you. I’m not going to argue facts with you. And I don’t enjoy partisan pretend time, so I’m not going to go back and forth with you pretending that you’re not pretending to not know what this whole “reality” thing is.

Widdeshins - maybe you missed this

Again, not playing partisan pretend time with you, I don’t care how many times you change the subject.
