The saying is NOT a well educated mind is the devil’s workshop. Since you are now, seemingly some sort of Scribe/Pharisee wannabe, get it right from your “Biblical” perspective
Idle hands are the devil’s workshop; idle lips are his mouthpiece.[a]
Footnotes:
Proverbs 16:27 Idle hands are the devil’s workshop; idle lips are his mouthpiece, literally, “A worthless man devises mischief; and in his lips there is a scorching fire.”
Yes, I know that I have some conscious racial biases, because I AM introspective and honesty is one of my highest ideals.
What I don’t know are the possible subconscious biases I may have. I imagine there exist some valid and reliable standardized tests that some social scientists somewhere have devised re: subconscious racial bias. But failing that, and taking one, I won’t know for sure.
...but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.
Cops in riot gear against peaceful protestors could easily turn the other cheek. Cause they're wearing protective headgear. As far as letting the law take your coat and cloke - What is a cloke? Is that a cloak that they use to choke you?
Oh, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Is another oldie but goodie. Have you ever considered living by that one?
If so you must be quite accepting of some big guy kneeling on your neck until you die.
George Floyd is but a leaf that got burned in the forest fire of societal disease. Do you think it is wise to inquire into the problem of the inferno leaf by leaf as you are proposing?
It's amazing how you express the problems so well with almost every post. I don't mean that you understand them and sort them out, I mean you embody the problem. You are the problem. Dismissing cops kneeing on black people for the last 30 years is exactly the problem. Yes, we should inquire into every leaf. That's what justice means. If you have an expensive irrigation system in one part of the forest, and just the fire rage everywhere else, that's injustice.
You are showing your “white privilege” and again, have no idea what you are talking about.
#329396, I was talking about young trump and his mama – but then perhaps he didn’t have a mama, that might explain somethings about the thoughtless-monster. Oh am I being insensitive to your hero?
You’ve still never explained what you see in his, beyond someone that pisses off liberal types. Is that really your standard?
I think you have me confused with someone else. I do not like the dotard. Can’t stand him and never voted for him. President Obama is my president.
If only Obama WERE still the POTUS… We would not be in this dystopian T rump America that must be his and his MAGA-heads’ view of Greatness.
The T rump did get some wall built. A mile long 8 ft fence around the White House. If his newly built cage would keep him completely confined, it might be worth what it cost.
The coward, in his paranoia, feels a need to be protected from the American people. His new wall is emblematic of his cowardice.
Yes, we should inquire into every leaf. That’s what justice means.
Alrighty then; let’s wait for the court of law to inquire and deliver the justice you want. To seek justice is to seek revenge: an eye for an eye, a Hebrew law of retaliation, the anti-thesis of Jesus’ teaching.
Conviction of the four cops will not be easy. Two of them who helped to hold George Floyd down were rookies. The third cop was just standing by. The cop, with his knee on Floyd’s neck, was using a restraint that can render suspects unconscious, and it is permitted by Minneapolis Police Department’s policy manual. Floyd’s underlying heart condition, unknown to the cops, was a contributing factor.
The prosecutor, Keith Allison, has brought serious charges and promises results. He is a politician using his Attorney General office as stepping-stone to the governorship. For him to win, the jury verdict must be unanimous; otherwise, justice goes to the cops.
Not as easy were it 4 blacks who did the same to a white man. Is there something about the word "systemic" that you can't get your head around?
The cops, with their Unions, and the almost universal code of cover-up for crimes by cop coworkers, and the buddy system in the conviction/non conviction part of the “injustice” system, and the public’s previous esteem for cops, have essentially been “above the law” that they are sworn to uphold. Much like “Bunker Boy” in the White House is above the law, because he has hacked the system.
“Justice” as a concept came into being as a rebuke of the concept of “Might Makes Right”. A rule such as “an eye for an eye” is just a proposed rule. It is not necessarily a “just” rule if it is not imposed fairly by those who have the power. If those who have the power are not ruled by the concept of justice, then there will not likely be justice.
I do not like the dotard. Can’t stand him and never voted for him. President Obama is my president.
Mriana,
a thousand apologizes, I was quoting sree, that guy of little substance and grand delusions (#329548) - I am truly embarrassed that I let that slip through.
I have read your posts for years and I know you are humanist and one of the thoughtful ones around here, and one whom I have a great deal of respect for because you are a solid person and what you share has substance to it…

The "concept of justice" is not white. The US judicial system is dominated by Jews. The "rule of law" inherited from the Brits has now been transformed into a tradition of the Talmud: argumentation. The prosecution's case is founded on a false premise: systemic black genocide. A team of sharp Jewish lawyers would tear Keith Allison's case to shreds.
Hmmm. I never considered what color the "concept of justice" might be. It never occurred to me that a color should be assigned to it. As I ponder, I think I have settled on a "translucent" coloring -- No! not "translucent". "Transparent". Yes! And thus when it is spread over all, it reveals the truth and decisions are consequently made that address infractions of the laws.
The concept of Justice, as I recall, was around, at least as early as the Early Roman Civilization.
The US judicial system is dominated by Jews.
Holy Schindler. Care to show your data on that? Btw, if it is true, it seems to me that those must be some pretty smart and good at what they do, Jews, to all get those jobs.
Additionally, the Federal Judicial system has been flooded by an unrelenting FLOOD of T rump appointees. That seems sort of opposite of what you claimed about the Jews having taken over and screwed up our entire legal system.
Dear goodness, doesn’t just that statement itself, tip you off, to the blatantly obvious > which is that you are passing on a Racist Trope - the kind of one that might originate with Fascists - don’tcha think?

Where do you get this bogus racist crap? While there are many Jewish people in law, not all are. It’s no different than any other field of work. Not only that, what do you know about British law? Do you live in Britian?
But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.
When we understand that everything that happens is ultimately an act of God, then it is pointless to resist evil lest we oppose God himself, but rather makes more sense to work according to his law. In practice, though I have some training in martial arts, when the chips are down, I am generally completely passive. It works for me. Adding violence doesn’t help, God is able to defend me.
However Jesus also I believe is talking about bringing a second reason to someone who rejects your first offered reason. Although I would like to have more clarity on this. But see also Deuteronomy 18 and John 18 to study this.
The cloak I take as figurative of a rich man’s cloak, and in the same way Job gave up vain religion and declaring his own righteousness before God, Jesus seems to be saying that if someone would take away our spiritual covering for sin (e.g. blood of Jesus; Paul assurance of faith in Jesus’ resurrection) and admit we are naked as described in Revelation 3.
But to get back to the general sense, if we stand spiritually on firm ground, our enemies are there to be loved; there is no need to defend ourselves because God himself has brought this situation about.
A number of people have mentioned GF, I do not know who he is or much of what is going on there. But what it sounds like to me is an artificially generated situation. And in a way it is a fallout from the reaction to the self-isolation that seems to be the trend these days, because isolation generates suspicion. Touch is important for generating oxytocin in the body which gives rise to affection as well as regulating the immune system.
I also see it as a test run for general population control on a physical level that will be rolled out more widely.

Sree, calm down. Racist generalizations just don't play here. I have no idea how many lawyers are Jewish and I don't care. The only thing you are slightly correct about is that law has defended police brutality for most of history, US and otherwise. But it is not a "premise" of the case. In fact, again read The New Jim Crow, the law disallowed anyone to make a case based on systemic racism. There are precedents that say you can't investigate police records if you are looking for patterns of arrests based on race, you have to first prove that such a pattern exists, then you can start the investigation. I'm not making that up. So, this case will be prosecuted on the video evidence and the witnesses. It will still probably lose based on other precedents allowing for the cops to do what they did. I hope it goes to the Supreme Court and those precedents get changed.
@loveofgod When we understand that everything that happens is ultimately an act of God,
But "God" is a product of your mindscape.
“God” and your relationship with her (or him, if you swing that way) is the most personal relationship humans experience - your personal perception of god is just that, your personal perception based on your unique life experiences and books you read.
Everything that happens is ultimately an act of Physical Reality.
Jesus has to do with our human situation and it deals with the struggles of our Human Mindscapes. Jesus has nothing to do with the Creation of this Universe, or Planet, or the Evolutionary processes that created life on Earth and the human species.
in the same way Job gave up vain religion and declaring his own righteousness before God,
Too many are too wrapped up in their Egos when they read the Book of Job. The real lesson is that God is beyond human understanding, but our Ego's make most blind to that and instead turn it into a lesson in Christian idolatry more than any increased appreciation for the billions of years old God of Time and Light, Life and Love.
I also see it as a test run for general population control on a physical level that will be rolled out more widely.
The Physical level, you think Physical Reality is doing all this simply for human population control? Ever imagine the story is much bigger and older than that?
