Lee Harvey Oswald misses his mark

Just read an article claiming LHO’s intended victim was Texas Govenor Connally, not JFK, who LHO evidenlty actually admired. This actually makes alot of sense. Thoughts?

Another conspiracy theory. It's been proven that the gun was aimed at Kennedy's head with a scope. If he was after Connolly he would have had it trained on Connolly's head. Such guns with scopes are deadly accurate and Oswald knew it. How does it make sense that he was after Connolly? LL

And it's been proven the gun was aimed at JFK's head? Seriously? Where the gun was aimed is a question of intention, not ballistics, or physics. You can't scientifically prove someone's intentions. And the guns are deadly accurate...seriously? So does that mean anyone who uses one of these "deadly accurate guns" will hit their mark. Talk about putting the cart before the horse. Intention can only be judged by things LHO said or wrote, or things others that knew him testify to. And that all points to LHO hating the govenor, not JFK, according to this article. Actually, this theory is far LESS conspiratorial than the standard theory that this loser was trying to make some grand statement regarding communism, capitalism, etc. He was a pissed off marine whose state govener stiffed him. And when he tried to make this incredibly difficult shot, he missed. Plain and simple. And actually you're contradicting your own statements (or others like you) made regarding conspiracies in general. For 911 conspiracies folks like you often say people try to make more of a situation than it warrants because they want to associate some larger meaning to it. In this case you you seem to want JFK's assassination to not be just a mistake. No no, it has to be some big deal filled with meaning and importance, it was JFK after all!

Really amazing claim. I did not respond at first because I thought it could be a fake news story. And I still do. But it is coming from the LA Times. Do you think this is a real story? Please save me the time of checking.

Not plain and simple at all. "Lee Harvey Oswald’s failure as a man, a husband, a worker, a Marine and a son, began shortly after his birth. And Oswald’s embrace of communism, his strong belief in Castro and the Cuban revolution and a desire to be recognized as an important person provoked him to kill President Kennedy." http://mcadams.posc.mu.edu/motives.htm Killing Connolly wouldn't have done anything to support his known political stances. You seem to be saying that his embracing of communism, his belief in Castro and a desire to be recognized as an important person would have been demonstrated by killing the Governor of Texas as he sat next to one of the most powerful political figures in the world! That would certainly have made a definite statement about his ideals: advance communism by killing the governor of Texas instead of the President of the United States. Good thinking!

Yeah somehow the logic in wanting to kill a governor and then waiting until the President shows up with his Secret Service to drive down the most crowded street Dallas had probably ever seen, seems a tad, shall I say stupid. At the golf course the week before would have probably made a hell of lot more sense. Particularly if you harbored any notions of escaping and getting back to your beautiful wife and kid. Or something like that. Welcome to the Weird Wacky World.

Good thinking!I'm saying that according to this idea, the governor was the real target, as much as conspiracy nuts like Lois et al would like to believe JFKs death had some other grand meaning. Just because LHO had all these grand ideas in his head doesn't mean he acted on them. He was a loser, hate Connally for silly reasons, and when he had a chance, tried to kill him. Why wait for the Dallas trip? Who knows. Maybe it was just a convenient time and yes, one that if carried out would make the story important. Don't forget too, that he left the scene. Why do that if you wanted to be "infamous"?
