I am assuming that the Hebrew terms for god are included with the Christian translations.
It all depends on what translation you want to use. For example the Hebrew bible will use the word Elohim instead of just a title (GOD). In this case Elohim is a noun and masculine.
Now El-Shaddai on the other hand is claimed by some to be the Father-Mother god.
Adonai is neither male nor female, but is claim by many to be male. Yet, it is used as a girl’s name.
Just the tip of the iceberg.

He's male because he was created by Jews and Christians who were fiercely patriarchal, so all "leaders" Were, by definition, male. I can't imagine a female god coming from those cultires. Both the Old and New Testaments were created to support and advance patriarchy. If "god" were female, she would be called a goddess. Lois

picky, picky, picky, I was keeping with the title of the thread. ;-P I imagine it did take some time to get from sugar and spice and all that's nice to nailing Jesus to the cross. :ahhh:

Ok, well this is going nowhere. I was really hoping one of the posters who continually schlep their religion here, either as ID or whatever, would answer. My point was going to be, most Christians would probably say Boy/Man. And they say that because God for them is really a psychological crutch - they need a big father in the sky. SO…to call god a her/She, etc. or an It wouldn’t work for them. WHICH THEN exposes them. They’re not in it for the truth of the matter, they’re in it for the crutch it is. Everything else is just a show, an attempt to cover up the fact that it’s just hocus pocus, cover that up to make it seem NOT that, but real.

I have similar motivations for saying God is a woman. Well, used to anyway. I just wanted the women around me to hear me say it. To, increase my chances, know what I mean, nudge, nudge, say no more.

In context of human terms, God would have to be a female. She gave birth to the universe, no?
However Carlin proposed that God would have to be a man, because no woman would screw things up as badly as they are now.
