Hello good friends, It is so good to find this Center and I hope to meet you at various events. I’m active in the poetry, literary and arts circles here in Daytona Beach. I’m director of a non-profit organization called The Creative Happiness Institute–a positive spin on ways to promote wellness through creativity. Mostly, I’m a poet who wants to do good within the community. I’ve worked a bit with Ethical Humanism–presenting a program quite a while ago at the Society in Brooklyn; arranging debates and performances with Ethical Humanist authors through the years.
Now, I’m happily working on two projects for the fall. I’ve just published my 21st book poetry, entitled Rusting (Taylor and Seale, 2014) which I hope will foster discussion of such topics as “The Joy of a Meaningless Life,” and “Don’t Vote: Why Settle for a Lesser Evil?”
My other project is the launch of a critical biography about a feminist pioneer, entitled Merlin Stone Remembered (Llewellyn Worldwide, 2014) which will appear late this fall. Merlin wrote a very important book, When God Was a Woman, that helped empower women everywhere. Now we have assembled commentary on her life and some of her previously unpublished work. I would love to talk with folks about Merlin and related topics.
Any publicity for books and events involves finding a hook that will stir controversy and bring out an audience. If I am active within your Center for Inquiry, I promise I won’t be abrasive. I look forward to many positive exchanges. David Axelrod, aka axelrodthepoet

I do wonder what Ethical Humanism is. Is there an unethical form? ;) Lois
Hello MzLee, Sorry if my life is spam for you. Actually, Spam was always an enjoyable dinner when I was a kid. I’m not sure how to make it sound more sincere. I spent two intense years working on the book about Merlin Stone and three years on the new book of poetry–plus a lifetime loving to write. I guess there is an element of self promotion, but my life consists of my writing and promoting the writing arts. That and my family–a loving wife and four super kids, each working out what a life is supposed to be. Does that make things less ground pork for you? I suppose your candor is meant as guidance but it feels a bit cruel to a newcomer. I tend to enter new circles idealistically–my bad–and then find out they consist of the usual suspects. Don’t make points on me. I won’t compete in that game. But on a positive note, if you suggest an exchange, I’ll reply. Cheers, Peace & Poetry, axelrodthepoet
To be clear, spamming is strictly against the rules on this Forum. If you wish to join and participate in open discussion, you are more than welcome. But we take particular care that new members are not here to engage in self-promotion. That will lead to banning. Thanks.
Welcome to CFI, David.
Your name sounds familiar. Engaged in politics by chance? If so, I am delighted to get your input in the various ongoing political discussions.
Hi David!
Nice to meet you! Looking forward to get your input in the forums!
I love poetry, and sometimes write a little bit of it. Not that great. Mainly depressing
I’m in Fort Lauderdale. If you’re ever down here would be cool to meet. The name of your organization made me chuckle. My friend just opened something, online for now, called Creative Asylum Arts Advocacy. You two might get along well. She’s pretty big into helping local artists and creatives in their career development.
Peace for now.
