Global warming ? Climate change? Global cooling?

Pro or anti fracking??

Evasion speaks louder than a straight forward answer.

My point exactly …

This is an interesting question. The observed plateau in global temperatures despite rising CO2 levels might be due to several factors, including natural climate variability, ocean heat uptake, or inaccuracies in climate models. It’s worth considering that climate systems are complex and can have multiple interacting components. Further research into these dynamics might help clarify the disconnect.

What plateau is that?

Do you know how much this has been studied amd how many scientists agree?

Not a good sign for the health of a site when the moderator posts bogus info. The links above claims the Dems are enacting climate action to keep global temps below 1.5 degrees .

“cutting our carbon pollution to support the shared goal of preventing the average global temperature from rising more than 1.5 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels. (Scientists say we must stay below a 2-degree increase to avoid catastrophic climate impacts.)”

Yes, the Dems recognize the existential danger the world is facing.

You may want to look at the answer to thisquestion:

What is the 6th extinction?

A December 2022 study published in Science Advances states that “the planet has entered the sixth mass extinction” and warns that current anthropogenic trends, particularly regarding climate and land-use changes, could result in the loss of more than a tenth of plant and animal species by the end of the century.

Correction - pretend to recognize

That is an illogical statement. One either recognizes a problem or not .
You cannot pretend to recognize something if you do not recognize it.
Apparently you are not recognizing the problem or you would not blame consumers but the businesses that own the polluting industries, like the oil-companies,

Who owns all the major oil companies?

Key Takeaways. The largest oil companies in the world by revenue are state-owned. The majority of state-owned oil companies are located in the Middle East, China, Russia, and South America.

No need to exaggerate. Here’s the part of the quote you left out,

President Biden has made action on global warming a high priority. On his first day in office, he recommitted the United States to the Paris Climate Agreement, sending the world community a strong signal that we were determined to join other nations

Sure, Biden sent a “strong signal” and politician make promises that they don’t keep. I posted the link as a primer on the topic, not as a support for a President who is about to retire.

Why do single out the Dems. seems to me there is plenty of blame across the board.

Or this from S&P Global:

… Krosnick, alongside Laurel Harbridge and Jeffrey Wooldridge, co-authored a 2016 study called “Presidential Approval and Gas Prices” tracking gasoline prices’ direct impact on a president’s approval ratings. The study reviewed data from January 1976 to July 2007, filtering for other economic factors and significant news events, and found that a 10-cent increase in gasoline prices correlated with a 0.60% decrease in presidential approval. …

A new report released by US Democrats has shown that many big oil companies have willingly misled the public about their opinions on the dangers of climate change.

The pause in global temperature increase over the past 16 years, despite rising CO2 levels, is a topic of ongoing debate. Some factors to consider include natural climate variability, oceanic cycles like El Niño and La Niña, and the role of other greenhouse gases and aerosols. Climate models can be complex, and while they may not capture every nuance, they generally account for these variables. The overall trend still supports long-term warming due to increased greenhouse gases.

Because the Dems say they believers

I think that’s over. You’re going to need to show me names and numbers.

Hmmmm, have you tried a google search

https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=oceans+warming+update+2024&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

abuhanzala I wonder if you are aware that ocean warming isn’t our only problem?

This is a classic example of misinformation, applied. Two things. One, the data was cherry-picked, so anyone FOR the resolution that “Global Warming has paused” was using non-scientific methods to define the “pause”.

Second, that sticks. Once misinformation is heard and believed, it is harder to undo the overall misconception. The window of years that came after a record high year has been broken out of, that old record is just another point on the rising scale again and records keep piling up. None of this matters. You can still google “16 year pause” and get hits, and a few people are probably still claiming to debate it. To the misinformed, it doesn’t matter that the data anomaly ended 11 years ago and the 200 year trend continues.

Facts won’t reach this person. They need to be there, like a safety net, so when a crack opens in the misinformation and he falls through, they will catch him. But you have to open that space. Facts are good at that. Different thread.

Why would anyone spend the time discussing this with CC deniers when such discussions are not taking place in the scientific community?

Lausten my discussion isn’t about finding excuses and apologia for our collective apathy, disregard, (if not outright contempt for) keeping up with the simple geophysical truths scientists were learning about.

I’ve been spending the past decades concerned with understanding the why of our collective failures, that are destroying our planet’s life support systems.

Oh and Dante555, why would anyone want to discuss the science behind anthropogenic global warming induced “CC” with you, when your words merely project the mind of a cynical game player, with no conviction other than to irritate?

Great question! The apparent pause in temperature rise despite increased CO2 could be due to natural climate cycles or complexities not yet fully captured by climate models. It’s a reminder, like in Surah Al-Kahf, that deeper understanding and patience are needed when dealing with complex issues like climate change. Hopefully, ongoing research will shed more light on this.

No need to talk to you when i know all about this
