false?,,,,,,why?

koto said, Someone told me As-Salmu Alaykum my Brother Thank for sharing this. Alcohol and drugs are evil tools used for profit with a government tax and seal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AXXzPsdG-o Your videos are true these things eat away at the heart, brain, liver, lungs etc… and are a false solace in the moments of sadness, grief, or disappointment. It is another thing that keeps us from achieving " being all one can be." The mind has to clear. The problems in life no matter how unpleasant or ugly. Must be acknowledged first, looked at in some detail and taken on in such a manner to eliminate or greatly minimize so things become manageable. Drugs and alcohol cloud judgement, and disorients people. Tell me true or false?,,,,,,why? You give a very balanced outline of the teaching of the Quran and of the Bible. You provided statistics, and of course information about alcohol and drug abuse I know is true.
From wiki;
In spite of these restrictions on substance use, tobacco and caffeine are still widely used throughout many Muslim nations. Many Christian denominations disapprove of the use of most illicit drugs. Many denominations permit the moderate use of socially and legally acceptable drugs like alcohol, caffeine and tobacco. Some Christian denominations permit smoking tobacco, while others disapprove of it. Many denominations do not have any official stance on drug use, some more-recent Christian denominations (e.g. Mormons, Seventh-day Adventists and Jehovah’s Witnesses) discourage or prohibit the use of any of these substances. Because Jesus and many Biblical figures drank wine, most Christian denominations do not require teetotalism.
The keyword in your posit is: "drug abuse". No one would dispute that abuse of anything is harmful and moderation in all things is beneficial. But psycho-active drugs have been "used" for thousands of years for religious rituals, medicinal purposes, and to gain new scientific or philosophical perspectives. Native Americans used peyote on special occasions. In Fiji, sharing Kava is communal ritual of fellowship. Carl Sagan used marijuana to gain new perspectives of Cosmological functions. In medicine, dangerously addictive drugs are routinely prescribed for pain or depression. Drug "addiction and abuse" is often the unintended result of medical prescriptions for pain or depression. Witness the current opioid addiction in the general population. Islam prohibits all drugs that are not medically prescribed, but some of these medically prescriptions are opioid based. Let's not forget that these sweeping declarations forbidding the use of certain naturally occurring psych-active substances are at best relative, often to maintain religious influence and power, but do not seem to have contributed much to "peace on earth".
koko said, Scientists say that just thinking about Alcohol can make people tipsy “We found people who thought they were intoxicated were more suggestible and made worse eyewitnesses compared with those who thought they were sober," Seema Assefi says. “In fact the ‘vodka and tonic’ students acted drunk, some even showing physical signs of intoxication," she adds. “When students were told the true nature of the experiment at the completion of the study, many were amazed that they had only received plain tonic, insisting that they had felt drunk at the time," she comments. Yes, you may want to have a look at the "mirror neural system" of the brain. From Wiki;
A mirror neuron is a neuron that fires both when an animal acts and when the animal observes the same action performed by another.[1][2][3] Thus, the neuron "mirrors" the behavior of the other, as though the observer were itself acting. Such neurons have been directly observed in primate species.

Why increasing numbers of young people drinking alcohol
1 - as a result of peer pressure and tradition (the influence of friends).
2 - some people have false beliefs that drinking alcohol makes them feel happy and helps them to spend a good time and eliminates shame.
3 - as a result of being bored and looking for excitement in life.
4 - Some people believe that alcohol abuse will help to overcome the problems
5 - role models bad young man’s family who are abusing alcohol and encourage it.

Do you believe sharia law is the answer?
Sharia, Islamic sharia or Islamic law is the religious legal system governing the members of the Islamic faith. It is derived from the religious precepts of Islam, particularly the Quran and the Hadith. The term sharia comes from the Arabic language term sharīʿah, which means a body of moral and religious law derived from religious prophecy, as opposed to human legislation.

Shariah is the law of the Qur’an and literally means “A path to life giving water." In fact, the word Yarrah (i.e. the root of the Hebrew word Torah) means precisely the same thing. Therefore, Shariah is actually ingrained in Abrahamic tradition.
Shariah is comprised of five main branches: adab (behavior, morals and manners), ibadah (ritual worship), i’tiqadat (beliefs), mu’amalat (transactions and contracts) and ‘uqubat (punishments). These branches combine to create a society based on justice, pluralism and equity for every member of that society. Furthermore, Shariah forbids that it be imposed on any unwilling person. Islam’s founder, Prophet Muhammad, demonstrated that Shariah may only be applied if people willingly apply it to themselves—never through forced government implementation.
Additionally, the Qur’an does not promote any specific form of government, but requires that the form people choose must be based on adl or “absolute justice." The Qur’an says, “Verily, Allah enjoins justice, and the doing of good to others; and giving like kindred; and forbids indecency and manifest evil and transgression. He admonishes you that you may take heed" (16:91). Notice, religious preference is never mentioned. Therefore, in ruling with absolute justice, for example, the righteous Jewish King Solomon ruled as a just monarch based on this fundamental principle of Shariah Law—justice.
Shariah law champions absolute freedom of conscience and freedom of religion. For example, the Qur’an goes as far as to oblige Muslims to fight on behalf of Jews, Christians and people of other faiths and to protect their churches, synagogues and temples from attack. (22:41) Furthermore, Shariah holds that to be a Muslim, a person must testify to the truth of all past prophets, including Jesus, Moses, Abraham, Krishna and Buddha—and must respect their adherents. When Prophet Muhammad peacefully became the ruler of Arabia, his primary condition for non-Muslims (and Muslims) to reside in Arabia was that they allow all people of all faiths—be they Jews, Christians, Muslims or idol worshipers—to worship in peace and without oppression.
Such countries have ignored the fundamental tenet of justice inherent in Shariah Law, and have instead used Shariah as an excuse to gain power and sanction religious extremism. To be sure, not a single example of a “Shariah compliant" country exists. In fact, the most “Muslim country" in the world is likely America, because America guarantees freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of expression and freedom of thought—all hallmarks of Shariah Law. Those nations that oppress in the name of Shariah are as justified in their claims, as the slave owners who claimed their right to slavery was based on the Bible.
As for the “violent" verses from the Qur’an that are cited by both extremists and critics—honest legal interpretation abhors quoting an excerpt as a means to understand the full law. Unfortunately, both extremists and critics refuse to adhere to this basic principle. In sum, Shariah law guides a Muslim’s personal relationship with God, just as the Old and New Testaments guide Jews and Christians in their personal relationships with God. These paths to life-giving water are nothing to fear.

http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/ I listened to a Sam Harris interview with a guy who tries to bring a modern message out of the Bible stories. Sam let him go for a while, but then started pushing back. He compared it to Buddhism, where you can lift some secular messages out of the text with very little effort. I think the Koran requires a lot more stripping away of the miraculous, the antiquated and just plain wrong. But I haven't actually studied it so I can't say for sure. Here's an example from my sermon helper, for 1 Peter 3:13-22, where I pick a half sentence out of a Lectionary entry. Most of it is about who Jesus is and why you should believe, but there is a bit on how to conduct yourself in a debate that is actually useful. ]

Allah has sent down miracles, revelations and messengers to give clear proofs He exists and more important, what we should do once we come to this realization.
Allah has sent prophets and messengers with many proofs throughout the ages for people to be able to clearly see with their own eyes and to be able to use their own senses the miracles and proofs pointing to the fact, Allah does in fact, exist.
Miracles of prophets and messengers of Allah have come to people through the ages. Moses (peace be upon him) showed many miracles to pharaoh and to the children of Israel. Plagues, locusts, water turning to blood, his stick becoming a snake, the voice in the burning bush and the parting of the Red Sea are clear miracles for the people of Moses time.
Again, Allah sent Jesus, the son of Mary (peace be upon him) with clear miracles for the people of his time. Speaking from the cradle while still a new born infant, creating birds from clay, curing the sick, giving sight to the blind and even bringing a dead man back to life, were all clear signs to the people to know Jesus (peace be upon him) was a messenger of Allah as was Moses before him.
Muhammad (peace be upon him) was the last and final messenger of Allah, and he was sent to all of mankind. Allah sent him with a number of miracles, not the least of which was the Quran. The predictions and prophecies of Muhammad (peace be upon him) have come true even in this century and the Quran has been used to convince even scientists of the existence of Allah.

The Quran is the best of proofs for the existence of Allah and today over one and half billion people memorize and recite from the exact text, in the exact same language it was revealed in; Arabic. More than 10 million Muslims have completely memorized the entire Quran from cover to cover, and can recite it from memory without looking at it.
No one sees or hears Allah, not even the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Nor are we able to use our senses to make some kind of contact with Him. However, we are encouraged in Islam to use our senses and our common sense to recognize this entire universe could not possibly come into existence on its own. Something had to design it all and then put it into motion. This is beyond our ability to do, yet it is something we can understand.
We know from the teachings of Muhammad (peace be upon him) the proofs for the existence of God (Allah) are most obvious to us in our everyday surroundings. Anyone with understanding would quickly acknowledge His existence provided they are not so stubborn as to ignore the obvious evidences right in front of us.
We don’t have to see an artist to recognize a painting, correct? So, if we see paintings without seeing artists painting them, in the same way, we can believe Allah created everything without having to see Him (or touch, or hear, etc

\\
The Qur’an is a clear miracle which need not be introduced. It invites others to itself, demands the rejecters to challenge it while it defeats them, condemns them, and it always stands victorious. That is why it, after passing centuries, viz., since the departure of the Prophet (p.b.u.h.) up to the present, has been continuing its invitation the same as it did during his lifetime (p.b.u.h). It is both religion and miracle; law, and the document of the law.
The Holy Qur’an, Global and Eternal
The reputation of the Holy Qur’an cleft the bonds of time and distance and influenced beyond them. The miracles of the prophets before the Prophet of Islam (p.b.u.h.), and even his own miracles save the Qur’an, happened in a special period of time, at a definite place and for a specific group of people. For example : the utterances of the holy little child of Virgin Mary, and raising the dead by Jesus (a.s.) were done at some definite times and places before the eyes of some particular people. And we know that regarding the things that depend on time and place, the farther we move away from them correlatively the weaker they become. This is one of the properties of affairs related to time.
But, the Holy Qur’an does not depend on time and place. Its brilliance and authority that illuminated the darkness of Arabia fourteen centuries ago continues unwaveringly to shine with its original splendor. Besides that, the passing of time, the advancement of science and the development of information have made it possible for us to understand it and take its advantages even more than the nations of former ages did. It is evident that what time and place cannot influence will continue to be everywhere in the world for eternity. It is also clear that a world-wide everlasting religion should have a world-wide everlasting document of legitimacy in its possession.
Not only with science. It is a book of history, philosophy, laws and many more. An unique book to guide the humanity.
Then we can discuss the Holy Qur’an :
from the point of modern science;
and the scientific explorations;
and the rotation of the Earth;
and reproduction in the plant kingdom;
and general reproduction in all the particles of the world;
and general gravity;
and the surrendering of the Sun and the Moon;
and the secrets of the creation of mountains;
and the advent of the world;
and the existence of life on other planets;
and the winds, the pollinator of plants;
and the question of the roundness of the Earth; (2)
And many other scientific facts and knowledge about the world can be found in the Holy Qur’an, too.

1) Central piece of Islam is the revelation from God, that is The Quran. It doesn't simply say that it the book is from God without giving any proofs or testable evidences. Less known is the fact that the only divine book that challenges its readers to find any contradiction or wrong in the content. For scientific testable evidences, one may go through the video 2) Another central piece of Islam is the final messenger of God is Prophet Muhammad, who came after Jesus (peace be upon them both). His lifestyle, his teachings, his prophecies itself are enough for one to make judgement whether the religion is true or not. Few of his prophecies concerning the End of Day have most happened like the following: The barefooted bedouins competing in building tall buildings. We know what is going on in the middle-east especially Dubai. Disappearance of trustworthiness The increase in killing Increase in Interest and related business Increase in musical instruments Increase in sexual promiscuity and nudity everywhere Prevalence of wine and liquor A man will obey his wife and disobey his mother, and treat his friends kindly and shun his father . I m personally touched whenever i hear this and see it so much happening everywhere. I have mentioned only that i remember . There are huge set of prophecies that have gone past, many happening right now and many about the future. God sent the angel Gabriel* to teach Muhammad* the exact words that he should repeat to the people. The words are therefore not his own; they did not come from his own thoughts, but were put into his mouth by the angel. These are written down in the Qur’an, word for word exactly as they came from God. Now that we know that prophet we must listen to him, for, according to the Bible, God says: “I will punish anyone who refuses to obey him" (Good News Bible, Deut. 18:19). Someone told me
That the Bible encourages the use of alcohol: PARTLY TRUE … it is encouraged in some parts of the Bible, and discouraged in others, and Christians differ widely in their attitudes toward alcohol use.
The biggest guide to distort the Bible
Alcohol is the number one drug problem in America.
There are more than 12 million alcoholics in the U.S.
Three-fourths of all adults drink alcohol, and 6% of them are alcoholics.
Americans spend $197 million each day on alcohol.
In the United States, a person is killed in an alcohol-related car accident every 30 minutes.
A 2000 study found nearly 7 million persons age 12 to 20 were binge drinkers.
Three-fourths of all high school seniors report being drunk at least once.
Adolescents who begin drinking before the age of 15 are four times more likely to become alcoholics than their counterparts who do not begin drinking until the age of 21.
People with a higher education are more likely to drink.
Higher income people are more likely to drink.
These are also facts. Wait, what am I doing?
Someone told me
alcohol, my grandfather died from cancer caused by drinking, and my youngest brother was killed by a hit and run driver (the majority of hit and run drivers are intoxicated). My best friend from high school spent $150,000 on credit cards on Heroin. I can’t think of any people who don’t know someone very negatively affected by alcohol and / or drug use.
Alcohol and drug use is extremely strongly corrolated with crime, murder, violence, rape, child abuse as well as socially destructive behaviors like sexual promiscuity.
They are a plague.
Because alcohol acts like other drugs that affect judgment, awareness, the pleasure centers of the brain, addiction, etc.
Unfortunately, a large minority (maybe 20-30%?) WILL have significant problems due to alcohol and drug use, and a smaller fraction (5%?) will cause untold grief and heartache for countless others.
I stand by my comment: alcohol and drugs are a plague upon society.
60% of US adults consumed alcohol in the last year. Multiplying that by the fraction I listed of people for whom drinking is a problem, I would be comfortable saying 12-18% of US adults have at least some degree of problem drinking (examples: binge drinking leading to sexual encounters that are later regretted, missing work due to hangovers, money issues due to money spent at bars, marital fights fueled by alcohol, inadvisable conversations at an office party where one too many drinks was tied on, driving under the influence (but not caught), etc.)
And of course the 5% or so for whom alcohol is a very serious problem (3% of US adults, since 40% don’t drink) then go on to do things like slaughter my brother from behind the wheel, die from liver failure, sexually abuse their stepdaughters, lose their jobs, and otherwise wreak havoc upon the fabric of society.
Of course among some subgroups such as Native Americans, those percentages are far, far higher.
Sure. But people do stupid things all on their own without touching a drop all the time. I just don’t care if people want to drink. They are adults; they are making a decision to do something.
I was a child and a victim of an adult’s drinking

Of course among some subgroups such as Native Americans, those percentages are far, far higher.
You are wrong there. Natives Americans don't drink more, they are more affected by alcohol.....difference.
Sure. But people do stupid things all on their own without touching a drop all the time. I just don't care if people want to drink. They are adults; they are making a decision to do something. I was a child and a victim of an adult's drinking
Well I wasn't, and I was raised without any religion or ritual, I have always been honest, fair, and considerate of others. I don't drink, smoke, or beat my wife of 50 years, I have 5 cats and 2 dogs and I feed the birds and squirrels in my yard. And some religious person wants to tell me how to live my life, while a bunch of his brothers are busy fighting "holy wars" killing each other? Give me a break. Clean up your own backyard before you judge the flowers in my yard. I am saying this as a general statement and it is not directed at anyone in particular. I'm sure, everyone here is of good will and intention, else they wouldn't be posting here. :-)
