Amensty international - ukraine military using human shields

Lock step with lindsey on Russia

Just some points:

  1. USA did not engineered the Maidan Revolution but welcomed it.

The Maidan revolution was provoked by Putin.

In fact a democratically elected government wanted to pass agreements with west. Putin threatened and the government switched to an agreement with Russia. People revolted.

  1. Zelenski and his government have made mistakes, but they are not fascists, except in Putin propaganda.

I just will give an exemple : European medias can work freely in Ukraine, not in Russia.

  1. When a referendum was held for Ukrainian independence, Russian speaking region voted pro independence.

The only part of µUkraine which was unhappy of belonging to Ukraine was Crimea.

  1. Putin knew that Nato was not ready to integrate Ukraine.

  2. If Putin had wanted negotiate, he would have taken the east of Ukraine, not tried to take whole Ukraine and destroy the country.

  3. Putin is ta dictator, even if not turning as a fascist, installing a dictatorship, killing freedom of press, imposing a set of values, killing opponents, and so.

You cant ignore the fact that the USA is using Ukraine in its proxy war against Russia just as they plan to use taiwan to try get china to respond so that usa can have a excuse for war
The mantra that this is all about democracy and human rights is just that- an empty slogan with proof in the pudding, the180 degree in US policy with what is happening to the people of palestine and yemen

Yes, USA are using Ukraine in a proxy war against Russia, but Putin allowed it, caused it, when he attacked Ukraine. Putin is the responsible.

No, USA don’t plan to use Taïwan in a proxy war against China. They plan to defend Taïwan if it is attacked by China.

If China attacks Taïwan, china will have caused the war, not USA.

China is a totalitarian state, with an imperialistic project. It is taking the military control of the China sea, even in territorial waters of other countries.

Please, wake up.

We are not in a world of candy bears but in a world of real politics, with three powers contending for supremacy, USA, China and Russia. there are other potential players as India or Brazil.

In this world any available mean is used.

Now, yes right of people to self government is a political tool. What was good for destroying Yugoslavia is not good for Crimea or Palestine.

But, right now, USA respect a modicum of forms and rights. And they are not trying to expand. Why do you think that many Eastern Europe countries and Pacific countries want to enter in Nato ?

Because, they don’t feel threatened by USA but by Russia and China.

And democracy and human rights are not empty slogans, they are ideals, difficult to implement. If you look backward, since 1500, progresses have been made.

I prefer to live in a imperfect democracy, rather than in a dictatorship or in a totalitarian state.

If we were living in Russia or China, we could not have this free exchange. Think about it.

There is a lot there to unpack. Tell me what threat does Russia and china pose to america? BRICS + ?

What is this about? How is this proof?

USA, Russia and China are competing for world domination. AS such, Russia and China threaten USA.

And do you deny Chinese expansionism, in Pacific, in Africa ?

I asked how is russia and china threatening the USA?

They have nukes.
Russia is disrupting food and oil supplies.
We do business with them, so cooperation is preferable in a global market.
Isolation isn’t really possible.
We aren’t the police of the world, but still should be concerned about all human rights.

You know what? Ukraine isn’t being used by us, even though Russia has for history been the U.S.'s enemy. It’s more like the Ukraine and the U.S. have a common enemy and we are helping them, but those who support and love Russia, want to see it differently even if it means twisting facts and listening to Russian propaganda.

Like I said, the Ukraine and the U.S. have a common enemy.

Again, a common enemy. It’s really the same thing. The U.S. is defending the Ukraine from Russian’s attacks.

In this case, Russia caused the war, not the Ukraine or the U.S.

I don’t understand why people listen to Russian propaganda, especially if they live in the U.S. Russians were never our allies.

China does not threaten only states in Pacific, but India:

And don’t try to change the subject by asking if china was not copying USa strategies, it does, but that does not makes her less threatening.

May be a moderator would transfer theses exchanges to a new topic ?

For this topic, I don’t think it would valuable. It normally takes off with some “whataboutism” very quickly. It’s easy to make that case that powerful leaders everywhere are making war with each other, and it’s not all logical or just or consistent.

That tells me nothing how russia and china are a threat to USA

What would? Do they have to start launching missles? Do their cyber attacks count? Are alliances meaningful?

I’m in no position to offer a serious opinion on that, but I know there is plenty of information out there for those who are actually serious about absorbing some of the information.
Are you a serious guy, or just a game player?

They are not and the US is not a threat to Russia and China.

The difference is that Russia and China are trying to annex other sovereign nations by force and these countries ask the US for help in defending their homes.

No one needs Russia’s or China’s help in defending their country from the US.

I think you are optimistic.
I’d have to admit that our mutual big D games are a threat to each other and ourselves and all the worlds bystanders.

Hell, we are in a physical reality where our global heat and distribution engine is starting to show what global warming and destabilizing a ten thousand years old wonderfully stable climate regime, that enable human civilization to flourish. Now we see extreme storms destroy important infrastructure with a promise of much more and worse.

That’s what we should be worrying about, figuring out better ways of harvesting and retain sweet water when it comes down in torrents, only to be followed by drought.

Proactively preparing for the sea level rise, who’s rate keeps inching higher than earlier expectation.

Trying to figure out how to consume less.

Thinking of protecting farmland rather than destroying it.

And a few dozen other things I don’t have time to list.

But instead most are doing their best to ignore it, we know how well that works.

This is an exhausting thread, time for a music break.

I agree on a financial basis, but I was addressing military operations.
AFAIK, we are only in a country by their invitation and if we are no longer wanted we leave. We’re out of Iraq, We’re out of Afghanistan.

We have military 5 bases in Saudi Arabia, by their invitation.

Fair enough.
Though didn’t need to remind of us Saudi Arabia :japanese_ogre:
