That’s what the hypernormalization article was saying.
One reaction to it is to check out, throw up the hands and say there is nothing that can be done. Another is like greenhammer, randomly point to real problems and randomly assign blame, muddy the waters instead of seeking solutions. It’s hard to tell if he is a victim of the propaganda or propagator of it, which is how propaganda works.
Well, in the end we all have but one life to live and one death to die. We can’t control the world around us, all we can hope to influence is ourselves and how we process the information around us.
Holding on to one’s sanity, humanity and a retaining a little humor is our own responsibility
We are in some ways victims of circumstance, and trapped within our skins and what life has dished out to use. It is ours to deal with it as best we can. Externally and internally.
Retaining a sense of sanity requires knowing oneself and achieving a certain balance.
Making do with that is an internal task requiring self-recognition, and work.
And you know, it has all been said before,
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.
Wish I could have given this more time and a better response, but my multi-ring circus has started and I better get my head “present” to dealing with little humans running around, and keeping them on safe side of the calamity line.
So far a skinned knee has been the worst of it.
But thanks for the feedback, I’ll sure be chewing on it, and a better more concise response.
See ya
That’s a very respectful answer to someone who is saying they don’t understand what it means to think for themselves and has demonstrated that they don’t want to try.
It’s a bit hard to believe, since, who else are you thinking for? If you know your name and have a basic understanding of language, what is going on inside your head? If you can read and then rephrase something, where did that occur other than your " interior self"?
If the request is to express thoughts from one’s self is “too deep”, where does the thought that it’s too deep come from?
Have you considered its a you thing? I have influenced lots at home , with friends, at the workplace and public discourse through my political activities and membership.
(the few donation on there are seed money my wife and I sent in, then zip.
No one gives a damn, but should I let that crush me?
And if it’s not to crush me, what’s to do?
Etc.
Etc.
You are born into this world alone (even if one has a wombie(s)) and you shall die alone
and every night you go to bed you are left alone with your thoughts, even if someone is lying next to you.
I, myself and me, is the essential first circle, all others are built upon. {Like a building is limited by the kind and quality of foundation it has under it.}
I’m the only one I can sort of “control” or direct (might be the better term).
Well the pitter patter of little feet are starting, time to run . . . . . . .
Check out from saving the world?
Yup, if you say so.
Our world is in hospice territory and no one is interested in any sort of change.
As for your “you” thing - you have no clue how much I sacrifice for children and other’s in my life. Stop making yourself judge and jury for people you known nothing about.
Why not send me some help big mouth??? - I have 1500+ postcards left waiting for stamps.
**If you include a list of addresses, I’d be honored to send postcards to who you think might get something out of it.
This community exists, first and foremost, to foster inquiry. Inquiry does not flourish in an atmosphere of heated rhetoric, mutual vilification or recrimination. Disagreements should be kept, as much as possible, to the issues at hand and not become overly personalized
In this case, I don’t need the example that follows it because the personal nature of your post is so flagrant.
You were warned a while ago, but they don’t expire. That’s two. 3 and you’re out
What CC is expressing is commonly understood. That he is willing to discuss it shows an openness and an understanding of what it is to be human. He isn’t isolated in these thoughts and didn’t come to them from frustration or despair. At least, not as far as I can tell. My reason for this conclusion is my shared understanding of humanity that can be confirmed from evidence gathered over centuries.
It might be one of the biggest frustrations of human life that you can’t forcibly change another person’s mind or viewpoint. It doesn’t mean you don’t share ideas. It doesn’t mean you don’t share insights, articles, information, or interests with those you care about. It means that in order to make lasting change, real change that resonates throughout the Universe, you have to start with you.
