Where’s Climate Change?

I reread the post. I think you could be agreeing with me. I post with a lot of satire. You have a good day I got to run to meet some people, take care.

That is the point you are making. You are identifying the problem without offering a solution.
I have long suggested to use the remaining oil to build a replacement infra-structure , else we run out and have no resource to replace oil at all!

The world is addicted to oil. We cannot just stop, because that would be the end of civilization.
Back to the horse-and-buggy days

Mike prefers to play with the fine details, a trivial political BDGs, (that speak to man’s self-absorption and opportunistic gamesmanship in pursuit of ruthless profiteers), and that amounts to chump change, regarding the big picture of what we have done to ourselves. And what scientists are observing and reporting

Still no conception of the difference between Physical Reality ~ Human Imagination.

Complicated vs. Complex Systems

Weinstein differentiates between “complicated” and “complex” systems in a way that is crucial for understanding how we should approach modern problems. A complicated system, such as a car engine, involves many parts, but these parts interact in predictable and controllable ways. Even though there may be numerous components, if something breaks, we can usually trace the problem and fix it without causing cascading failures. The system operates in a linear, deterministic manner where inputs have predictable outputs.

In contrast, complex systems, like ecosystems or human societies, involve interdependent variables that interact in ways that are often nonlinear, unpredictable, and context-dependent. … Moreover, the relationships between components can produce emergent properties, behaviors and characteristics that arise from the interactions of the system’s parts but cannot be predicted by studying each part in isolation.

Complex systems are adaptive; they evolve over time, and small changes can lead to disproportionately large consequences. For example, a minor alteration in the food chain can ripple through an ecosystem, causing unforeseen changes in population dynamics and biodiversity.

Importantly, in complex systems, unintended consequences are often the rule rather than the exception, making it impossible to fully understand or predict all the outcomes of our interventions. … (source)

If anyone out there is confused about what drives Earth’s ever changing climate and how humanity is massively overwhelmed Earth’s physical systems, here are some primers:

Scientist do understand the fundamentals - the important stuff that make the direction of change plenty clear enough

Here’s a small taste of a small fraction of manmade global warming driven climate change into the little matter of the physical infrastructure we depend on.

The physical reality - a look at one proxy for the trend that really and truly has been unfolding, and who’s trajectory terrifies everyone with a sober appreciation for the fundamentals:

Here’s another aspect that MikeYohe wants to ignore,
for all his vile innuendo,
namely that the scientific community can’t be trusted,
but we should believe the words from know nothing reporters, and the Progress is God crowd, and the executives who are trying to trick us into believing we don’t make any impact and can keep on keeping on, as if nothing untoward is unfolding in front of us.

Where’s Climate Change?? Many, many, places.

Some tell me all this Global Warming stuff is simply a Chinese myth created to destroy the West’s economy, Thank god Herrn trumP sees through the myth.

Do with this information as you will, because you opinion doesn’t matter, this transition into a radically new and more energized climate regime is continuing unchallenged. We are in early innings and it will take centuries to fully unfold, but the die has been cast.

Arctic Climate Collapse! This time it’s REALLY flipped!!

Feb 23, 2025 - Just Have a Think
The Arctic region has been a massive store of carbon for thousands of years. Now it’s warming between 3 and 7 times faster than the global average and that carbon is escaping into our atmosphere. The latest research suggests that more than a third of it is now a net emitter! And in case you’re wondering…that’s NOT good!

Some say environmentalists blame everything on Global Warming, lordie, next they’ll be telling us that Global Warming causes volcanoes.

Okay, AGW can’t “cause” volcanoes, but it sure can trigger volcanoes.
How on Earth could that be?
Geophysics and pressure. Ever use a pressure cooker?

What’s Really Under Antarctica’s Ice?
May 7, 2025 - PBS Terra

If all of Antarctica’s ice melted, our coastlines would be drastically altered. Fortunately, that’s not going to happen anytime soon, but new evidence suggests that West Antarctica - which holds around 5 METERS of sea level rise - is melting a lot faster than scientists once thought. And, a new study warns of a sinister threat buried deep beneath the melting ice - one that may cause a feedback loop that speeds up the melt of the already precarious West Antarctic ice sheet. Stay tuned to find out what new maps reveal about the under-ice world of Antarctica, and how a tiny octopus can help us understand the South Pole’s ice-free past.

Western governments turn to fascism to punish climate change activists and allow big oil to lobby their BS at COP 29

Capitalism as it exists today cannot survive the fight against climate change because addressing the crisis would mean dismantling the very systems that keep it alive. Climate change is the direct result of endless growth, resource extraction, and profit-driven exploitation, which are foundational to capitalism. To truly tackle it, you’d need to overhaul energy systems, end the dominance of fossil fuel industries, and restructure the global economy to prioritize sustainability and equity over profit. That would mean an end to capitalism as we know it.

This is why capitalism is increasingly leaning on fascist tendencies to maintain control. Fascism is the natural response of capitalism in crisis—it’s a way for the ruling class to consolidate power, suppress dissent, and protect their profits in the face of growing instability. Fascism ensures that workers and oppressed people cannot organize effectively to demand the systemic changes needed to fight climate change. Here’s how it connects:

  1. Suppressing Resistance
A successful fight against climate change requires mass movements demanding systemic change. Fascism uses state violence, propaganda, and surveillance to crush these movements before they can grow. By labeling climate activists as “terrorists” or criminalizing protests, fascist systems neutralize threats to the capitalist order.

  2. Controlling Resources
Under fascism, the state often becomes an extension of corporate power. This allows the ruling class to secure dwindling resources—like water, arable land, and fossil fuels—by force. It shifts the focus from solving the crisis to hoarding and militarizing resources for the benefit of the elite, while leaving the rest of the population to suffer.

  3. Normalizing Sacrifice for the Rich
Fascism creates narratives that justify mass suffering. It convinces people that their struggles—heatwaves, floods, displacement—are either natural or the fault of marginalized groups. This diverts anger away from the system and scapegoats immigrants, refugees, or activists instead of holding corporations accountable.

  4. Maintaining Inequality
Fascism allows capitalism to preserve extreme inequality in the face of growing unrest. Instead of redistributing wealth and power to address climate change, it doubles down on protecting the elite at all costs, even if that means sacrificing millions of lives.

If we win the fight against climate change, capitalism in its current form would collapse. Why? Because transitioning to a sustainable world requires prioritizing human needs over profit. That means moving to renewable energy, investing in public infrastructure, and building systems of care that put the planet and people first. These goals are fundamentally incompatible with capitalism’s endless drive for profit and exploitation.

The ruling class knows this. That’s why they will cling to power through fascist methods if they must—because the alternative is losing their grip entirely. On the flip side, this is also why fighting climate change is inherently revolutionary. If we organize effectively, it’s not just about saving the planet. It’s about overthrowing a system that has been destroying life for centuries. Climate change isn’t just a crisis—it’s an opportunity to build a new world.

Some excellent analysis there Mr. Green. Too bad it sounds nothing like your other posts. I would love to know the source.

This is similar

We’re facing down climate disaster all over the planet, and while the capitalist system is unable to properly respond to that disaster, it’s also an incredibly resilient system. Without intervention from the Left, capitalists’ embrace of green energy will leave the working class behind.

And how is that going to happen without admitted some profound foundational faults within ourselves and our self-absorbed thinking - addressing those faults requires a certain level of inner honesty - the question is who’s up for that?

But kick the can is great fun too, so on we march.

The post, which is from some source other than green’s original words, but anyway, is the beginning of a road map, unlike you who only says that “we” (undefined we) have to confront our thinking. No recognition of the spectrum of humans; greedy or compassionate, educated or indoctrinated, privileged or oppressed. There is no such thing as the entire species changing its thinking.

The foundational faults, as you call them, have been called out since we were children, but some of the people who did were tripping on acid and some of them were murdered by the system. Those were failed efforts that you barely critique. Much of the core of the 60s revolution still exists and can inform us. All of it tells us to keep working, keep fighting.

Well that’s a problem isn’t it.

What you think because I don’t have an answer to saving our world, I should not discuss finding oneself?

I’m truly sorry, but it’s too late for saving our society. That’s not my fault, or my responsibility, I’ve been advocating for a more rational perspective a long time.

So stop beating me up for (these days) being focused on the individual, biological level. I found value in simply understanding the overall picture. It does a wonderful job of taming the horrors associated with the prospect of hard times, and my death - in my experience.
That’s worth discussing.

WT?

Although that underscores how you haven’t paid much attention to what I’ve written - my outlook encompassed that. Besides, it’s a distraction, since their mistakes were pretty much the same as our current ones.

But all that would require a good faith constructive dialogue to tease out, as opposed to turf battles.

I’ll make a deal. I’ll stop if you stop telling me I didn’t address the last 6 billion years in enough detail, or that philosophy is just words, or I didn’t correctly express the body/brain connection to the environment.

What kind of deal is that ?

A very reasonable one

It might have been reasonable if you’d have bothered enough to get the time frame right!

Oh and please note there is a difference between life’s development and creature’s development.

We’ve been doing this for years. How much more framing do you need?

What’s your 6 billion refer to?

I knew you would nitpick that.

Not to be nasty.
Simply to demonstrate, how trivial the topic is to you.
From the way you come across, it’s an irritation, a distraction, and me championing the importance of a deep appreciation of our innards and our half-billion-year development - as key to self-awareness. An affront to your sensibilities.

This is all I can get out the tenor and substance of your responses.
You’ve never seriously asked:
this “…” doesn’t make sense - because of this or that. Explain what you are trying to say.

Instead it’s all how dare I not worship the great thinkers and all they’ve achieved.
or feeling personally attacked.

Things you find trivial are often central to what I’m trying to discuss.

You rightly point out I only have a superficial understanding of the great thinkers, theologians and philosophical thinking because my learning (trawling for information) has been limited to understanding biographies and outlines of ideas and arguments. A casual enthusiast.

My thing has been Earth’s Evolution and biology and understanding Earth sciences and her complex systems - that’s what I really devoted my time to proactively learn about. Don’t dismiss that.

Nor my seven decades of a psychologic journey to observe and understand myself, and my inner workings, along with inter personal dynamics covering a rich spectrum.

On the one hand, most my hitchhiking trips have been solo, long periods of personal reflection, yet constantly on the move, means constantly meeting new people and situations. Brings it back to the reality of me the social animal - no matter how much of a lone wolf one wants to project. Observing one’s interactions, while being active author of our own nonstop show. Author is the wrong notion. More like actor in a nonstop fast paced improv show.

I’ve read your words, and many such 6billion irrelevant disconnects, I make plenty of errors myself - so I’m not faulting you on that.

What I fault is that attitude being projected:
six billion, half a billion, - tomato, tomahto, give me a break freak.

It is not trivial.

You’ve decided what my tenor is, and it has nothing to do with me. I don’t know where you get what get. When I ask, you say, it’s your words. Not helpful

You write your commentary, I don’t.

For instance show we where you addressed anything regarding this comment #2, with OP being the introduction?

Instead it was a bunch of AI distractions.

When you ask what?

Where have you seriously asked me to explain any detail I’m writing about!?
Your words simply reflect irritation that I’m don’t kowtow to the old masters,
or that I have the gaul to point out that given modern scientific understanding we ought to have matured beyond the self-indulgent “I think, therefore I am,” me, me, me, state-of-mind that’s simply disconnected from the biological reality of this planet.

This is trying to be helpful:

It’s like you don’t understand how conversation works. Yes, my words, that you are reacting to, and I’m saying your reaction is coming from some pre-decided notion of how people should react to you, and I’m the one responding so you put those notions on me whether they fit or not.
