What should the Democratic Party actually do to win back American voters?

He is an idealist … And his diagnostic seems right to me.

The american democracy is on the brink of crashing.

You didn’t mention the elephant in the room - money in politics. Why would that be?

This made me laugh-

“Better understanding of choices and options”

Choice between bad and terrible. I see the corporate pundits are now pushing for Hilliard 2024!!

Keep on shadow boxing 69.

The only thing regular people have to fight money is to fight smarter.

Case in point why it’s important to help regular citizens NETWORK - GET INFORMED - ENGAGE IN SOMETHING THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE, even it’s on a local level.
5:00 is particularly poignant and directly responds to what I think you are doing in this thread.

Jan 13, 2013 MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell is joined by Ezra Klein of the New York Times to discuss how Trump allies are trying to use local elections to seize more power over elections, and what can be done to keep these races free and fair.

We need insights and words that will help the trump crowd come back down to Earth - trump is all about telling you everything you want to hear, people love that. Why??? Work on figuring that mystery, find a way to explain it to people, start changing minds - because Brainwashing is all big money has to fight this battle and they’ve refined there over the past half century why everyone was sleeping.

You keep lookin for enemies everywhere, but don’t seem to realize you’re one of them simply by virtue of being able to survive trapped in their system the thing you are screaming against. The creeping rot of disregard for other people, and disregard for physical reality in favor of Greed is Good, permeates our entire society. How are you going to do? By doing your best to misunderstand others, like me.

If you spent half the energy, stopping yourself, just read, try to understand the words without judgement, first you need to digest the information as best you can. Then is the time to let the tide of your own experiences and knowledge, come rushing back in like a King Tide.

It’s amazing how that absorbed and digested information, can play (or struggle, or wrestle) around with your own ideas and experiences. Then you can go back and critique in convincing way, while learning all sorts of new things in the process - gotta admit, right now you’re all about the rage, least looks like that from here.

Triplex69, you want better, you better behave better yourself!!!

You don’t think that doesn’t piss me off.
What’s your point?

Point is why should people “TRY HARDER” when this s@@t happens ???

They would know because they destroyed it.

Because I can’t mention everything in every post. I talk about money in politics all the time. If I don’t mention it in one of my posts, that doesn’t change anything

Why not? Huh? ???

Not to worry . I wasnt talking to you

Moving the conversation forward …… etc etc etc

Because each of actually only has our own one life to live.

And I find it better than rolling over, and spending the rest of my life crying about all that’s been lost.

Or that never was.

Are you drunk??? That was awful

Okay triplex, you’re going to be quiet for a little while

What because I dropped a word? Or I sometimes transpose letters or words, my spelling is borderline sucky, and I have my blind spots, some call it dyslexia, who knows, I call it distractions.
Oh and I hated “English” in high school, so made a point of not paying attention, to my everlasting regret.

Take your best shot punk. It’s going to take more, than you seem to have in you, to connect.
Or, or, was that for my basic observation of our human condition

What, you want to argue that truism?
Please share your thoughts once you’re out of time out and allowed back into the room with the adults in it.
{That reminds of one of another little fella in my, from many decades ago. He had a 3ish year old blow out, mom send him to his bedroom to cool off (time out). In he goes, a few minutes later his head pops out of the door and he asks, “Can I come out, I’m better now.”
I mean how can one not love a kid like that, and a great afternoon was had. Still do, though he’s joining the old guy crowd these days."}

One of the fundamentals of mental health can be summed up with,

What shall you be present to?

I can fly into a rage and develop a deep grudge as easy as anyone - but I can’t hold on to them, because it’s too self destructive.

Oh, my little buddy is up already, lousy 45 minute nap, but sleepy enough maybe he’ll let me finish, though I won’t press my luck.

When one has the urge to use an ad-hominem. It’s best to click the moderation button. Expand the list at the bottom and click the flag.

I’m on the forum a lot, but it’s not my responsibility to read every post or interpret everyone’s feelings. Flags bring things to our attention and give us some data to make a decision.

I appreciate that Lausten, but you know me, I like fighting my own battles,
besides, seems to me, the lad could use a little counseling more than getting smacked down, that’s what he’s expecting and it plays right into his victim complex. (plus I can relate to his angry flailing more than he can possibly imagine.)

But you are the moderator and I will defer to you.

Why it matters. Nothing is going to happen unless people step forward and engage with this admittedly rotting political system, if not who’s going to stop the rot?

I’m a nice able bodied whitie so don’t speak with the kind of experience and moral authority these black individuals have in the following clip. They have a good reason for their grievance and their attitude and we ought to pay attention.

Why?

Remember Martin Niemöller’s warming:

First they came for the blacks, and I did not speak out—because I was not a black.

Then they came for the greenies, and I did not speak out—because I didn’t give a flip for our biosphere’s health, I wanted greed, low taxes and ever increasing consumption.

Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

McConnell Makes Racist Argument To Defend Blocking Voting Rights Says Elie Mystal

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell blasted President Biden on Wednesday for saying the Senate GOP could be on the wrong side of history if it does not pass voting rights legislation. Joy Reid and her panel discuss how McConnell has hypocritically manipulated the Senate to achieve his own political ends.
