President Joe Biden is set to address the American people as Russia continues its attack on Ukraine. Russia launched an invasion against neighboring Ukraine on Thursday using land, air and naval forces. In the capital of Kyiv, air raid sirens have sounded and a stay-at-home order has been issued.
Western countries are expected to impose unprecedented economic sanctions on Russia imminently.
Biden is expected to unveil new consequences for Russia. Earlier on Thursday, Biden convened a meeting of the National Security Council followed by a virtual meeting with G-7 leaders. On the heels of the Russian assault, the president spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and reaffirmed U.S. and NATO ally support.
This is surreal, spend all those decades building up a global society, and thanks to a bunch of xenophobic liars playing big dick games, ‘we’ are back to blasting the hell out of cities.

While the rest of the world supports Ukraine, China is supporting Russia. As this on the heels of a pandemic that started in China. Meanwhile, back in Russia, some Russian citizens are in the streets protesting Putin’s actions and getting arrested for it. Putin is just another Hitler wanting to start WWIII. Putin is totally blind not to see that most of the world is against him in this assault on the Ukraine. He can’t just claim countries in the name of Russia.
Putin does not give dam about what people think. and Putin, as Chinese leaders , thinks that Western democracies are weak because they are reluctant to use force, internally as well as in their foreign policy.
And remember, War is the continuation of politics.
As I said, Putin is another Hitler or Stalin or both in one. China’s government is a dictator wanting to control people. Unfortunately, we’ll either see another world war or Russia will take the capital of the Ukraine and that will be it, but very unfortunate for the citizens of the Ukraine. On the other hand, taking the capital may cause Putin to feel invincible and he takes other former USSR countries too, just like dictators from the past.
Richard Engel, NBC News chief foreign correspondent, talks with Rachel Maddow about how pro-Russian Ukrainians have soured on Vladimir Putin for using them as an excuse for his war, and the likely pattern Putin will pursue to try to put a strongman puppet in charge of Ukraine so he can rule by proxy.
