You go on believing that. I just hope you don’t get COVID-19 and find out that even a mild case leaves you with health issues that doctors don’t know how long they will last at this point. Everyone needs to get vaccinated or the virus will keep evolving and with evolution more people get infected and die.
As for the dotard, not most people have moved on. I personally hope he ends up in prison for the crimes he committed and so far, his cronies haven’t fared too well. I suspect the dotard won’t either or that’s what I’m hoping. The dotard killed over 550,000 people with COVID-19, before he left office, because he kept spreading BS, including what you’re believing. COVID-19 is more dangerous than you think and sites like JAMA, NEJM, CDC, BJM etc will tell you just that.
COVID does not kill everyone yes, in fact it kills very few infected people, roughly 5,3 millions of deaths for 274,5 millions of people infected in the world, or respectively 51,7 millions of cases and 827 000 dead in USA.
It means that if 250 millions of american are infected, you will get more than 4 millions of dead. to give a reference, number of yearly deaths in USA is around 2 400 000. Chicago population is 2, 8 millions of inhabitants.
And all these dead people have family, friends who suffer from their passing.
More, quite a few number of the infected people go to hospital and they are so many that hospitals cannot take care of other patients. It means indirect deaths from COVID. One of my friend was diagnosed with Cancer, at its beginning and 100 % chance of recovery with light surgery. He was taken in charge 7 months later with a stade 3 cancer, 60 % chance of recovery and recovered after heavy chemotherapy. Recovery will be confirmed in 5 years only.
A good proportion of hospitalized people go to intensive care units. It is not a joyful party for you when you are intubated and on a drip with oxygen .
And long term COVID are a fact. My daughter is 30 years old, she got COVID, she was not in hospital, but 6 months later she still has respiratory sequels.
Incidentally, USA represent 329 millions of inhabitants, 4, 16 % of 7, 9 billions world population, 18, 8 % of cases and 15 % of deaths.
To give another reference, the deadliest war USA knew was the Secession war, between 620 000 and 750 000 soldiers dead and an indeterminate number of civilians.

Do you mean that people who die from COVID would have been dead from old age? Very marginally true.
Not only that, the medical staff are overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients, seeing them die, sometimes in mass and then they also see ER patients with strokes, heart attacks, car accidents… die too due to the overwhelming number of COVID-19 patients take up all the beds. Many of these stroke, heart attacks, car accidents etc deaths could have been prevented, if stupid people with COVID-19 and their victims trying to not get COVID were not occupying every bed in the hospital. They can’t reserve beds for emergency patients, because COVID-19 patients are taking up beds and the more COVID patients they have, the more death they have on their hands, which in turn causes them PTSD and many of the hospital staff are so burnt out from COVID-19 that they’ve left. Shortage of medical staff will make the deaths from COVID-19 even higher. Bottom line, it’s the stupid people who don’t get vaccinated and think that getting the disease is better than the vaccine who caused all this mess. It really has become the pandemic of the unvaccinated.

Sorry if i was unclear, but in my mind, i was unambiguously emphasizing the number of deaths and the indirect effects and deaths to criticize those who explain that COVID is a benign disease.
I have family and friends working in hospitals and they are very angry. Mriana underlines others consequences.
And if the numbers and facts i give is trivializing, I don’t know what could be worst ? A black plague ?

Ah, yes, I agree.
When I first heard of this virus and the underestimation of its potential dangers , the Black Plague came to mind.
In the US we are approaching 1 million deaths, worldwide 5.5+ million and going strong.
The longer it stays the stronger it’s going to get. There is no guarantee that this may not be the extinction of mankind at the hands of the smallest organism, that is not even fully alive.
The irony is staggering.

it’s my opinion. it would be a difficult ‘fact’ to prove. First, we’d have to reach an agreement on what democratic socialism was. We probably would find that difficult.

I believe it because it’s a fact. At this point I know dozens and dozens of people who have had Covid. Most are older with underlying health problems and they’re fine. The risk is simply not high for most people, including many of the vulnerable.
Also, Covid is never going away even if everyone on earth gets vaccinated. It’s a yearly thing that will inevitably kill a few people, similar to the flus we deal with every year.
I hope you’re right.
