It considers today’s situation where all governance is about maximizing corporate profits… where do we go from here.

I'm pretty sure that cop was on something...

I visited the Occupy camp in Portland, Oregon, and in all fairness to the cops, there was a small percentage of Occupiers (maybe 1%) who seemed to have no cause other than to hurl insults at the cops and try to provoke them. The rest of the Occupiers were friendly with the cops, and most of the cops were friendly back.

Sadly, I think that's largely true. Take the Ukraine situation for example. Western governments didn't have the slightest problem with the violent neo-Nazi (e.g. Svoboda, Right Sector) ousting of a popular, democratically-elected president. But when 97% (of the 83% who voted) of Crimeans voted to secede from Ukraine, that was considered a straight-up violation of international law--despite the fact that the U.N. has approved other secession movements in recent history*. The bottom line was that Ukraine's president was maybe not going to sign on to a U.N. economic agreement, so suddenly he became a "rogue" leader and had to be dispatched.** *Every former Soviet state (I believe there were 14 of them, not counting Russia) seceded from the U.S.S.R. in the early 90's with the U.N.'s blessing. -Eritrea seceded from Ethiopia in 1993 with the U.N.'s blessing. -Montenegro seceded from Serbia in 2006 with the U.N.'s blessing -Kosovo seceded from Serbia in 2008 with the U.N.'s blessing. -etc. (If I go back before the 90's, this post is going to get very, very long.) **Is it crazy to suspect that the neo-Nazis in Ukraine had CIA support? One thing is for sure, the U.S. knew the coup was going to happen before it did, since diplomat Victoria Nuland was already secretly discussing who Yanukovych's replacement should be. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-26079957 (Sorry. I don't know where all that came from. Too much caffeine for me this morning.)

Off topic, but I’ve been meaning to ask, BugRib, since insects have exoskeletons composed of chitin, do they really have ribs?

I've used the name BugRib all over the internet. I came up with it long ago simply because I wanted something that sounded cool, sounded kind of like a real word, and didn't have to have numbers attached to it (i.e. hadn't been used before). I also thought it would be a cool name for a superhero that I am going to invent someday. Sadly, I'm a really bad procrastinator--as well as a really bad illustrator. By the way, this whole thread has been off topic. Is there a topic? :)

This is hilarious!!! … God bless Sweden
As one if the most secular nations in the world, they’re also very friendly and polite. Soccer fans are just one indication. All the Viking years have passed
Want a happy nation? Get rid of religion.
Oh, P.S. Anyone heard the news of the Swedish prisoner who escaped from prison because of a tooth ache? Well, after having been treated he turned himself right back in. - Isn’t that lovely
Peace.

The Rub as they say.

Nope. So if you have a bad cartoon to share, here's the place. PS. I think that cop was high on life

Oh lordie I just Googled "Swedish prisoners love their jails" it's hoot, the dentist trip is just the start, but I'm happy just skimming through the titles, I still have to get my lazy butt out the door, workzawaiting. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The down side of making one's own schedule, one must exercise some discipline now and then aarrggggh :ahhh: OK I'm outta here

Well, since we're being random, there is this... https://twitter.com/shitimobsessed/status/307364170964299776 (Disturbingly, that's the second time I've had cause to put that link up here.)
