Things I'm grateful for. Deep Time and our amazingly complete Big History understanding.

Here’s a fun little Thanksgiving Day sharing, a taste of Deep Time

The history of our world in 18 minutes | David Christian https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqc9zX04DXs David Christian narrates a complete history of the universe, from the Big Bang to the Internet, in a riveting 18 minutes. This is "Big History": an enlightening, wide-angle look at complexity, life and humanity, set against our slim share of the cosmic timeline.
Fun trivia, it took 380,000 years for first Hydrogen and Helium nuclei to capture electrons and form stable atoms; it took another ~199,620,00 years for first star light and creation of more complex atoms. After viewing the video I looked up David Christian and the "Big History" project he's developed, pretty fascinating stuff. Mainly for educators and students, but they do have a section for the public.

WHAT IS BIG HISTORY? Big History examines our past, explains our present, and imagines our future. It's a story about us. An idea that arose from a desire to go beyond specialized and self-contained fields of study to grasp history as a whole. This growing, multi-disciplinary approach is focused on high school students, yet designed for anyone seeking answers to the big questions about the history of our Universe. The Big History Project is a joint effort between teachers, scholars, scientists, and their supporters to bring a multi-disciplinary approach to knowledge to lifelong learners around the world. THRESHOLD 1: THE BIG BANG Beginning at the beginning. As far as we know. THRESHOLD 2: STARS LIGHT UP How stars are born. THRESHOLD 3: NEW CHEMICAL ELEMENTS How stars forge matter in the Universe. THRESHOLD 4: EARTH & THE SOLAR SYSTEM How tasty morsels of gas and rock created our home. THRESHOLD 5: LIFE ON EARTH How life evolves, adapts, and thrives. THRESHOLD 6: COLLECTIVE LEARNING How humans are different. THRESHOLD 7: AGRICULTURE How farming sows the seeds of civilization. THRESHOLD 8: THE MODERN REVOLUTION Why change accelerates faster and faster.
This is gonna be fun. If the football games don't get you excited, you might like this diversion. :cheese:

And yes all this is key to understanding our own humanism

Hmmm, this one is worth pulling up for the holiday season. Anyone want to discuss it?
