Republican tactics - a closer look.

CNN's Don Lemon reacts to GOP lawmakers' outrage over President Joe Biden's comments after he criticized states such as Texas and Mississippi for lifting Covid-19 restrictions, accusing those in power of "Neanderthal thinking."
Don Lemon: The Republican outrage machine is working

More to come.

I like Don Lemon !

p.s. The GOP doesn’t want anybody take their Dr Seuss books (ages 3-7) from their libraries and their AR15 guns from their arsenals?

The right doesn’t care about Dr Seuss books, guns, etc. That’s just a show they put on to stoke their base and raise money. I guarantee, if we could get recordings of their private conversations, they’d be along the lines of “Do you believe these effin’ morons? We insult their intelligence every which way, and they’re so stupid they STILL send us money.” I’ll bet that’s the calculation Trump made when he was deciding which party to join for his presidential run.

I think there is tape of him saying that, back in 2013 or so.

I just blocked a long time facebook friend. I’ve been trying to get him to see the light on vaccines, as well as every other conspiracy theory. The other day he posted something that said CBS had “removed” I Love Lucy. I started looking in to it, then checked my CBS app, and found they were fine. I searched a little more and found a site that says it’s all lies, in the ABOUT page.

The Right does these bizarre things in order to distract and keep things from passing. They know they can’t stop things from passing, if the Dems really want it, so they distract with stupid stuff.

Did I mention I didn’t vote for the Repugs destroying Missouri?

Why am I not surprised

Here’s a heck of an example of Trumpian Republican grade thinking in action.

Rachel Maddow revisits local reporting, including by the Orlando Sentinel, of the peculiar reign of Joel Greenberg as Seminole County, Florida tax collector, and the federal investigation into Greenberg that, according to the New York Times, led to a DOJ investigation of close Donald Trump ally Rep. Matt Gaetz for sex trafficking. Aired on 03/31/2021.

I guess worker safety was affecting throughput, but someone stood up for them

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/u-court-slams-brakes-trump-001346366.html

The largest U.S. meatpacking union celebrated a victory in federal court on Wednesday that it said invalidated a Trump-era rule allowing hog slaughter plants to run without line speed limits.

A lawsuit brought against the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) by the United Food and Commercial Workers Union and three of its local chapters had challenged the 2019 rule change, arguing that faster slaughter speeds undermined worker safety.

President Joe Biden’s administration, which pledges to prioritize worker safety, quickly withdrew a Trump administration proposal to allow all poultry plants to operate faster-than-established line speed limits

Some may argue that it is gov’t overreach to restrict corporations. But right now, there is little that is protecting the workers. Someone has to. Unions have lost much of their power and reach.

Well folks we are officially in a state of insurrection. The Demon Trump has convinced people that they must destroy democracy.

warning crude language

From now on it looks that murder and mayhem is going to be the new American Way.

This is beginning to look like a psychological virus has infected the Republicans . I never suspected the one day I would have to have a gun handy to protect my family from some berserker.

Oh, I thought you were talking about the latest capitol attack. I'm sure we're all waiting to hear details on the background of the "suspect".

This week, Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) signed the so-called Medical Ethics and Diversity Act into law. The law allows a wide range of health care workers -- doctors, pharmacists and even insurance companies -- to refuse to provide non-emergency healthcare based on personal "moral" objections.
One state limits voting, another limits healthcare.

That's one way to get rid of poor people. Refuse to provide living basics so that they have to move to a state with more humane values.

IMO, when a state wants to exercise their right to make any discriminatory law they want, the feds should have the right to deny them any federal assistance of any kind.

Then we can find out who blinks first.

From now on it looks that murder and mayhem is going to be the new American Way.
I was glad I was home and had nothing else to do but watch the events of Jan 6. First, I yelled at the screen, "where are the guys with body armor?". Later, when they just went home as soon as a parade of flashing lights arrived, like it was some wild party that got a little out of hand, I realized They were completely unorganized and had no real agenda. It's normal for a crowd to not understand the agenda of their leaders, but when the leader's agenda is so messed up, it can't be sustained. Compare the night after night protests after George Floyd's death, the creativity, the number of existing organizations that already had talking points and multi-point plans for reform. A few morons, one of them that literally shot himself in the balls, don't frighten me.

trump wanted to deny federal assistance to Sanctuary Cities, and I think there were a few other reasons he was looking to do so.

That's what's so scary. If there were someone that had enough organized brains we would have been in deep doo-doo. Either by the presidency, or by the failed insurrection.

Too true. It's weird reading that had me suddenly thinking of Iranian students who took over the American Embassy and then didn't know what to do, while America waffled and waited, then the military and militants showed up and, well, as they say the rest is history.

You’re right, in many ways the insurrection and other threats come and gone, definitely reassured me that I was giving the clowns too much credit. We weren’t quite as bad off as I was fearing. Unfortunately, life’s a fluid situation and freaky things happen to the careless. People live and learn, sometimes in the wrong direction.

This is the sort of thing the Trump Political Cult has to offer Americans.

How Trump Steered Supporters Into Unwitting Donations
Online donors were guided into weekly recurring contributions. Demands for refunds spiked. Complaints to banks and credit card companies soared. But the money helped keep Donald Trump’s struggling campaign afloat.

Over all, the Trump operation refunded 10.7 percent of the money it raised on WinRed in 2020; the Biden operation’s refund rate on ActBlue, the parallel Democratic online donation-processing platform, was 2.2 percent, federal records show.

The entire Trump campaign was a scam — and it is not over
The New York Times reports that Trump's issued $122 million in donation refunds. How could so many be duped again?

The credit card companies told the Times that they were inundated with complaints and requests to cancel cards:

"It started to go absolutely wild," said one fraud investigator with Wells Fargo. "It just became a pattern," said another at Capital One. A consumer representative for USAA, which primarily serves military families, recalled an older veteran who discovered repeated WinRed charges from donating to Mr. Trump only after calling to have his balance read to him by phone.
The unintended payments busted credit card limits. Some donors canceled their cards to avoid recurring payments. Others paid overdraft fees to their bank. There is no way of knowing how many people just paid the bills, either thinking they had no recourse or failing to notice it. ...

...

The Times compared the GOP's WinRed donation platform to the successful Democratic site ActBlue that it is modeled on and the GOP's practices leading up to the 2020 election were much more unscrupulous. The refund request rate wasn't even close. In fact, "the Trump/RNC operation issued more online refunds in *December 2020* than the Biden/DNC operation issued in all of 2019 and 2020." But then WinRed itself is a product of Trump-affiliated henchmen who made their platform for profit, unlike the non-profit Act Blue, and even kept their fees when people demanded a refund which Act Blue does not. They made a lot of money on this scheme . ...

It's a hell of a thing. Yet these thugs are offended that we Americans are offended at their fraud and totalitarian mentality. They say they are innocent and have never done anything wrong. It's all the evil leftie's fault.

I read a similar article. Starting in Sept 2020 the WEEKLY Recurring Donations were the default!

…Oh, looking it up, it was the same NYT article that I had read.
