Ocasio-Cortez slams Yoho's explanation of foul-mouthed confrontation

The pattern of Republican attitude of superiority and contempt towards women and the dehumanization of others discussed.

Mr. Yoho was not alone. He was walking shoulder to shoulder with Representative Roger Williams.

3:10 Because not only have I been spoken to disrespectfully, particularly by members of the Republican Party and elected officials of the Republican Party, not just here, but the President of the United States last year told me to go home to another country, is the implication that I don’t even belong in America.

The Governor of Florida, Governor DeSantis, before I even was sworn in, called me a “whatever that is.” Dehumanizing language is not new, and what we are seeing is that incidents like these are happening in a pattern.

… and so on and so forth.

And so what I believe is that having a daughter
07:53
does not make a man decent.
07:56
Having a wife does not make a decent man.
08:01
Treating people with dignity and respect makes a decent man.
08:08
And when a decent man messes up, as we all are bound to do,
08:15
he tries his best and does apologize,
08:19
not to save face, not to win a vote.
08:23
He apologizes genuinely to repair and acknowledge
08:28
the harm done so that we can all move on.
08:35
Lastly, what I want to express to Mr.
08:38
Yoho is gratitude.
08:41
I want to thank him for showing the world
08:46
that you can be a powerful man and accost women.
08:51
You can have daughters and accost women without remorse.
08:57
You can be married and accost women.
08:59
You can take photos and project an image
09:02
to the world of being a family man
09:05
and accost women without remorse and with a sense of impunity.
09:11
It happens every day in this country.
09:14
It happened here, on the steps of our nation’s Capitol.
09:18
It happens when individuals
09:22
who hold the highest office in this land admit –
09:26
admit to hurting women and using this language against all of us.

When will these old dudes learn not to take on AOC? She chews them up and spits them out with hardly a second thought.

That talk was a thing of beauty in its own way. She is good.

Think that’s the first time those words passed that lectern?
