Seems to me this thread was about the glorification of not giving a fart,
er, not caring, about stuff beyond the self.
Coming on the heals of your celebration of Pinkert’s answer to everything, a man who talks way out of his depth on many specialities including climate science (something I do understand) with shameful alacrity. His view of our current global situation and future is a man’s fantasy and disservice to all who want to understand the real world we are living through.
And it seems to me, that it’s something worth pushing back on.
It bring it all back to fundamentals, such as the whole Abrahamic, western mindset thing, with its decidedly self-serving, self-absorbed undercurrent - like saltwater to sea creatures.
The challenge to recognize and appreciate the physical reality ~ human mindscape divide, with its many cascading implications and consequences.
Bringing conversations to multiple threads and sections is generally bad forum etiquette. It’s not a rule, and sometimes helpful, so I usually don’t mention it.
This section is “entertainment”. If we can’t have fun, what are we working for? If having fun is (denigrated as) glorifying a lack of caring, how do we recharge? What leisure is allowed?
Child care doesn’t belong in the entertainment section.
This thread is about the glorification for no caring.
I’m not saying we shouldn’t have fun, and recharge our selves. But that doesn’t stop me from being appalled by the all too common I don’t care.
I get to fly in jetliners now and then, and go to busy airports, and notice that next to no one thinks twice about the amazing miracle of the process and the planes, all they care about is inflation and low gas prices and getting there. The same disregard permeates our society at every level. We build amazing wonders, only to let them rot for lack of maintenance, our throw away society.
There’s a difference between relaxing, recharging, having a good time, and not caring about anything beyond one’s own problems. Sadly, a look at the past 50 years is a look at the mess that the mass glorifying of not-caring has created for us.
If more than an impotent minority of people had cared enough to take Climate Science seriously, we’d be experiencing a way different, healthier, happier, less stressed world, with more global citizens being able to partake in those beer and music festivals and not care for a day, then is possible in today’s stratified society, of increasing numbers of have nots. And so on and so forth.
Who knows what you think you said, I’m looking at what you were posting and commented on that. Oh and the timing too. but enough with playing in the weeds.
