Multiple Cradles of Humanity

Story of human evolution needs tweaking: http://www.history.com/news/how-homo-sapiens-fossils-found-in-morocco-may-rewrite-the-human-story

Paleoanthropologists announced this week that fossils discovered in a cave in Morocco are the oldest known specimens of Homo sapiens, predating fossils found in Ethiopia by more than 100,000 years. The new findings challenge the idea of a single “cradle of humankind" in East Africa, and suggest the traditionally accepted story of human evolution may have to be revised.
Really fascinating. Anthropological discoveries this big haven't happened in a long time, afaik.

This does not really surprise me that much when you consider that ancient Homo-Sapiens must have led a nomadic life since they would have hunted game and follow it about. This was before agriculture got going, leading to more established homesteads, and the need to consume protein-rich meat. You only have to look at the lifestyle of Native American Indians to see how a primitive culture has to keep on the move. In fact, if I recall correctly, one of the driving forces that led people out of Africa was the movement of game across the Sinai Peninsula.

Just an observation, the dig site looked like an ancient mining site. The site itself was found by miners. So, the questions come to mind, was this a hunter site or a mining site for the barium sulfate? Were they after the barium for medical reasons? Or agricultural reasons? Barium was also used in the making of paints for art. Questions that are almost impossible to answer. For example, if you find bones at a gold mine, one might think that they were after the gold?
