Marc Elias America's Lawyer, an update mid Oct.2024

A bit of nice news, voter rights is being protected and the GOP Vandals are being driven back from the gates.

Marc Elias is a national treasure
It seems to me team Democracy Docket
has done a wonderful job of standing up to Republican dirty tricks.

Voting Rights Victories in Georgia, Alabama and Nebraska

Oct 16, 2024

Within the last 24 hours, courts in Georgia, Alabama and Nebraska have all issued court rulings in favor of voters and smooth elections. In Georgia, a judge blocked a new ballot hand counting rule passed by the State Election Board. A federal judge in Alabama blocked a voter purge program and in Nebraska, the state Supreme Court affirmed the voting rights of people with felony convictions. Marc Elias and Paige Moskowitz explain.

Thinking about the bigger picture and stuff like Musk giving $75,000.000 to the effort to make trump our ruler, … although, actual this election has become about JD Vance as President, since the T is melting down in real time. And in real time, the GOP isn’t going to have any other choice but of pull out the 14 Amendment card and send trump off into the sunset.

Back to the happening, It’s terrible seeing this billionaire driven effort to dismantle American’s Democratic Society experiment - And for what? To plunge the country into a civil war? To who’s benefit? So many other important matters to put our effort into, but no.

Here’s another upbeat story, apparently, Musk’s $75 million are being wasted because, well because Musk thinks, like trump, that he knows everything and has it all figured out, but the real world isn’t as straightforward as the fantasy playing out in his petty narcisstic greedy mind.

Trump may have tanked his own election, having completely outsourced to Musk – with zero experience about campaigns and voting – his entire get out the vote operation in the battleground states. Michael Popok at the Intersection explains how Musk has done nothing to get DeSantis to get out the vote in Florida, and has done nothing to build a ground and field operation at this late date, instead trying to spend his way to a win using old fashion TV ads, as Kamala spends her BILLION dollars raised on flooding social media and on activating her field operations to earn her votes.

But it’s not all clear sailing, it ain’t over. till it’s over.
Don’t forget to vote. In Colorado a state that fully supports America’s idealistic Democracy, all voters get their ballots mailed to them. My wife and I filled ours out last night and I’ll ballot mule them down to the county clerk’s drop box next trip into town.

Talking about turning MAGA people back to Democracy, there is a new voice that actually goes into the lion’s den and turn’s MAGA enthusiasts back to sanity.

Check out Adam Mockler, a young man who engages MAGA adherents and makes them admit Trump’s weaknesses.

The idea is that people have no more access to reliable information.

He uses the contradictions in their thinking to send the right one ahd let them do the right connections.

The first case, about the man who believe that Democrats are using the confederate flag in their meetings, because they are pro-confederacy explodes when he admits that Democrats are putting down statues of Confederacy political men and generals.

His final words : many of Trump voters are not bad people, but misinformed ones.

I couldn’t find those parts. I saw him driving them further into their bubble.

You can hardly expect people to say: “You have convinced me”., while they are data Trump rally.
To see them stop and think after hearing Mockler’s statement of facts, and the follow it up with a question that if the facts are correct, is it correct to lay the blame at Trump’s doorstep.
Clearly people were not informed of the truth, because all their news comes from Fox or affiliated outlets.

So, is this true or not? Should I do what this guy does and believe in myself?

Thinking that Trump voters don’t hear facts and that simply hearing them will change their minds, is demonstrably false.

Shouldn’t we try?

Lawrence: Bret Baier lied, and Kamala Harris forcefully responds

Oct 16, 2024 #FoxNews #KamalaHarris #DonaldTrump

In an interview with Vice President Harris, “Bret Baier lied deliberately and knowingly” about what Donald Trump said he wants to do to Americans he calls “the enemy from within,” MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell explains. Lawrence discusses why Bret Baier won’t get kicked out of “The Club” for lying or for interrupting Vice President Kamala Harris more than he has ever interrupted any presidential candidate in an interview.

Harris catches Fox News edit of Trump’s ‘enemies from within’ threat

“Bret Baier came at Kamala Harris with every attack in the Trump playbook—including one moment where he got caught using an edited soundbite of Trump,” says Chris Hayes on Kamala Harris calling out Fox News during her interview.

Thousands of Republicans have changed their minds. Half of Trump’s former staff is voting for Kamala Harris.

Not all republicans are stupid. They just wanted to be faithful to their president who claimed to have been wronged. They are beginning to understand why they should not put their faith in a TV personality and professional con-man, Who had a big SPEAKER in the Fox faux “news” network.

I believe some are beginning to understand that an alien seeking asylum in the US is not to be interpreted that s/he came from a medical asylum in their home country.

Here is another take. Harris and team raged quit

I agree with this. Nor are they ignorant. That’s why I say that the problem is not solved by repeating facts.

Look at what you responded to. Are you asking me if we should try something that has been shown to not work? How else could I answer that?

A Trump rally would be the worst place to try it. If you have a friend who trusts you, or a younger person who seeks your advice, trying some facts would be an option. But, wouldn’t you then listen to their response? Wouldn’t you empathize with whatever confusion they were experiencing? Wouldn’t you look for the life experience they were expressing as part of their reasoning? Wouldn’t you let them know you were trying to hear them?

Who quit? What is this guy talking about?

It’s Faux News! They are as honest as that orange menace, which means they lie as much as he does. She was interviewing with liars and they didn’t allow her to answer half the time from the clips I saw of it. I refuse to watch lying Faux News. I rather watch MSNBC. Regardless, it wasn’t an interview she had with Faux News. It was a lame debate with lairs. I feel sorry for Kamala.

I see. It’s interpretation. Spin, some call it. As if a VP and candidate doesn’t have a busy schedule.

You know the Dotard campaign lies at every turn. IMHO, any article which says his name, VD Vance’s name, or any of his cronies’ names should only be skimmed at most and the focus should be on Kamala, because she’s more honest than any of them. She even has Repugs supporting her because they cannot support those traitors, especially not the orange menace.

Frank I’d love to know what parts of that video impressed you, I found that guy tough to take seriously.

For instance, this does not seem like a serious question, it’s more like a gotcha:
“Kamala how many Illegals have you released into America over the past four years?”

Sort of like GOP claiming we allow Illegals to vote - we don’t it’s against the law.
Or
Sort like if I asked: Yo, Frank have you stopped beating your partner?

But if you want to share silly, here’s another biased perspective - and a whole lot easier to stomach. :v:

That’s quite the reach, attending a rally, or having a quite little discussion with a pal.

And who “proved” what?

Oh and doesn’t any want to talk about Marc Elias the champion of protecting what’s left of American free and fair elections - It the blithe acceptance of lies and dishonesty that our real poison pill.

And yet, another take:

So, I’m slapping some stain on my shack, hoping it will last through another winter, and I hop in the Rav4 to head home and this comes on. I haven’t found the audio yet, but at 11:27am, Elias is lamenting the state of the universities, where people are disrupting speakers, “cancelling” them as they say, and Kerri laments that she can’t understand why people would not listen to other’s thoughts and words in the first place, especially on campus, but then actively work to make it so no one else here’s those words.

Then I go in to the local convenience, get some local cheese, a craft soda, and a muffin with chocolate chips, and come out to here Eboo’s story of his first PhD thesis, where he can’t get his study subjects to confirm his ideas. His professor says, “maybe you’re wrong”, and, the key quote, “an intellectual doesn’t look for information to confirm his bias, he actively seeks out ways to disconfirm it”.

I have no problem with Elias or Lawrence O’Donnell. We need lawyers who are smart, we need good reporting. They don’t shout talking points provided to them like rizzo’s video, they don’t do performative stupid shaming like Mockler. So,

Sorry, nothing to add, not sure what I would “talk about”. Not repeating news and not cheering for it is NOT a “blithe acceptance of lies and dishonesty”. Accusing me of accepting lies is a clear case of the Left turning on its own, The Narcissism of Small Differences as Freud called, the Right loves it when we do that.

The point of my tale is, I’m just living my life, and the point of view that I keep talking about is shown to be as common as going to the store. The grad professor taught it, Eboo Patel experienced it, at the end of his book he quotes MLK because it was there before and it’s still true today.
