in 2020, Trump broke a tretay which was imperfect, but existed and worked because he was sure he could get a better deal. He did not.
Israel and USA bombed Iran and explained that they had destroyed every Iranian nuclear ability and so.
6 months later, Iranian people rise up once more time, against the religious state and for freedom. Trump shout to them go on, I am arriving. The result, 60 000 dead in the streets, thousands of people arrested, torturred, killed.
He realizes that Iranian abilities to make war and bomb are still very present. Pushed by Netanyahu, he pressures Iran to negotiate, and Iranians are rather constructive, with two limits: they want to be able to use civil nuclear installation, and keep somme ballistic means.
He prefers to go to war, killing the supreme ayatollah and the leaders of the keepers of the revolution, believing it will destroy the fighting spirit of the Iranian powers.
In fact, he deprives himself of any leader with enough weight to negotiate. And the new leaders know they fight for their lives. That gives them a good motivation to go on fighting.
He was a fool not anticipating that Ormuz straights will be closed. One moment, he claims that he does not need any help to open them, and one moment he whines that other countries don’t want to help him.
Onde day, he claims that he has achieved his war aims, one day, he claims that he will.
He cannot go on on war indefinitely.
Chris Murphy is a 53-year-old Senator from Connecticut, a member of the Democratic Party, and a staunch opponent of Trump.
He is a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and, in that capacity, was invited to a confidential debriefing meeting with Trump’s team regarding the progress of the war against Iran.
To recap:
Perhaps the most crucial point is that the war aims do NOT include the destruction of Iran’s nuclear weapons program. This is, to say the least, surprising, since Trump repeatedly states that it is a key objective. But of course, we already know that airstrikes cannot destroy their nuclear materials.
Secondly, they confirmed that “regime change” is also not on the list. So they’re going to spend hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars, have a whole bunch of Americans killed, and in the end, an extremist regime—probably an even more anti-American one—will still be in power.
Okay, so what are the goals of this war?
It seems to be mainly about destroying a lot of missiles, ships, and drone factories. But here’s the question that baffled them: What will happen when you stop bombing Iran and the Iranians restart production?
Their only answer was more bombing. Which, of course, amounts to planning for an endless war.
As for the Strait of Hormuz, they have no plan.
