I am offended

I agree with every word spoken here
Things are worse in Britain, now, but don’t think all of this can’t be comimg our way.

Thank you for introducing me to Pat Condell. I feel better for having watched the video.

Nicely done expression of his feeling offended. And he didn’t call for physical violence against anyone, other than a firecracker up the butt (ouch!) of Imam’s who he thinks should be deported for calling for the death of gays.
So except for an ix-nay on the firecracker up the butt-ay, I like it.

It's utt-bay. ;) Lois

Great video. However, I found myself thinking the whole time, he could definitely be talking about Judaism and Christianity (or rather their practitioners) as well. Ever heard of a lynching? Or the slightest mention of anything critical of Israel or Jews is instantly considered anti-Semitic, and while there might not be a violent reaction, there certainly would be other similarly detrimental consequences.

Like what? Lois

Does that mean we shouldn't mention that we're offended? I am offended at all theistic religions. Some are more offensive than others. But at the moment I can't think of one that's as offensive as Islam. The worst thing we can do is pretend religions have some special place in our world--so special that they shouldn't be criticized--or found offensive. They are not special. They are the result of sloppy and often dangerous thinking and, IMO, should be exposed as such, loudly and often. A world without theism would be a saner world. Lois

LoisI agree completely, they all offend me. So let's say so. He singles out Islam, and I can see some Christian or Jew watching his video thinking to themselves "ya see, THEY are the nutjobs" when in fact they all are. In other words he seems to let Christians and Jews off the hook. As far as actions taken against some...any politicians who speak out about the undue influence of AIPAC for example will soon find themselves unfunded and publically vilified.

However singling out Islam for opprobrium is rational. At this point intheir development, Christians and Jews are not blowing themselves up for their beliefs, even if they did in the past. Sometimes we have to do a rough triage and treat the worst cases first. Lois
