High level trolling

This will be an interesting test case. Can’t imagine it winning, but still interesting. It’s open lying, and saying it’s lying. Saying “the people on Main St say it’s so”, but that the Mayor isn’t included in that. Vance says “yeah but” to everything.

Those two make me sick to stomach. I can’t stand either of them. They don’t have my values either.

Should be a very strong case. But law certainly doesn’t guarantee justice.

It is not against the law to lie, but it is against the law to “slander”, as well as “libel”.

Slander: Legal Definition, Example, and Difference From Libel

In fact, it is illegal to make statements about someone that you know are blatantly false. This act is referred to as slander. If the subject of the slander and their reputation suffer because of your actions, you may be taken to court. And you may have to pay monetary damages if the person can prove defamation.

libel

: a statement or representation published without just cause and tending to expose another to public contempt . (2) : defamation of a person by written or representational means. (3) : the publication of blasphemous, treasonable, seditious, or obscene writings or pictures.

The title “high level trolling”.
Trolling is a form of online content and emotional responses deliberately provoking others for amusement or to achieve a specific goal.
Are teachers trying to get classroom involvement trolling?
Are news casters trollers? They lied about the laptop. They slandered Trump. They lied about Trump being a Russian spy.
The 51 former US intelligence officials who said Hunter Biden’s laptop was “Russian disinformation”. Were they trolling?
So, are preachers “Trollers”?
In this case we know what the specific goal is a political goal.
The question must be. Does President Trump and Vance believe the data they are presenting or are they creating data they know is false to move public response?
I would say they are not trolling and that they believe the data to be true. What does the data say?
Political lawfare will sue for any reason. What was Trump looking at 641 years in prison? The NPR today are saying that the legal experts say it is unlikely he will face incarceration.

What are blathering about?

I gave you the legal definitions of Slander and Libel.
This the reason why Trump is being sued by the Haitians who Trump slandered and libeled.

Trolling has no legal definition. It is merely a form of argument that can easily become slanderous or libelous. And Trump does not respect legal or ethical boundaries.

It is not the lie that is the offense. It is the consequence, the damage caused by lying about someone that has legal implications. Trump’s unwarranted “accusations”, that resulted in the Haitians being threatened with physical harm are sufficient cause for a lawsuit or a legal gag-order.

No. That’s what makes it trolling. There’s no way to comport them believing Haitians eat cat and the reality of their other beliefs.

How many times have you used the word ‘comport’? First time I ever seen that word.

If that is your belief. Then religion, education, and news reports are nothing more than a form of trolling.

AI - Yes, in many Vodou practices, animals sacrificed during rituals are typically cooked and eaten by the participants after the ceremony, with the meat being shared among those present; this is considered a way to partake in the spirit of the offering given to the Lwa (Vodou spirits) during the ritual.

Where is Vodou practiced?

Haitian Vodou - Wikipedia

Smaller Vodouist communities exist elsewhere, especially among Haitian diasporas in Cuba and the United States. Both in Haiti and abroad Vodou has spread beyond its Afro-Haitian origins and is practiced by individuals of various ethnicities.

AI Overview - Yes, cats are sometimes killed in Vodun rituals. In Vodun, animal sacrifice, or vɔ, is a practice that involves offering animals to spirits and ancestors. Cats, along with other animals like dogs, birds, goats, rams, and bulls, are commonly used for sacrifice.

Do Haitians practice Vodou rituals?

AI Overview - Yes, Vodou is practiced by many Haitians, and is often practiced in conjunction with Catholicism:

Prevalence

Estimates of the percentage of Haitians who practice Vodou range from 50% to 95%.

Practice

Many Haitians practice both Vodou and Roman Catholicism, and see no contradiction in doing so.

Rituals

Vodou rituals include prayer, dancing, animal sacrifices, and drawing sacred symbols in the dust with cornmeal.

From what I can find. Trump comported with facts available. So, unless more data is made available, we are just dealing with our own opinions. Anything else is just proselytism. Springfield’s Haitian population is about 15,000. With 50% to 95% would bring the number of Haitian’s practicing Vodou rituals from 7,500 to 14,250 people. My money is on Trump.

And I debated that 'The Washington Examiner is claiming that Trump ‘Never said anything derogatory about Haitians’.
And then I made the point that the lawfare action is political.
Just because they say they were slandered does not make it true. If Trump was not running for President again. Do you think there would be a lawsuit?

AI Overview - Christians participate in a ritual called the Eucharist, where they consume bread and wine that are believed to represent the body and blood of Jesus Christ. The practice of eating and drinking Jesus’s body and blood is a major part of following Jesus for Christians.

Is that a Slander and Libel?

Are the Haitians not allowed to follow their beliefs and traditions too?

There are plenty of free dictionaries available online. Not knowing words says more about you than about the posts here. If we can get through your poor grammar then you can use a dictionary. That’s fair.

Objection argumentative

Are you from Philadelphia?

The Joker? Really?

I try to moderate and sometimes lecture people on “dialog”, but arguing is what internet forums are for. State your case, use evidence. This isn’t a court of law. Mike Yohe is a troll who is allowed to keep his membership mostly because of his longevity. I think his logic is horrible and his facts aren’t factual, but I want this to be an open forum where a variety of opinions come together. Mike limits his participation enough to keep him within the bounds of reasonable behavior.

Coming right out the gate and stating “objections” is not a good start. If you don’t like how this forum is run, start a thread in “Issues and Complaints”. This is explained in the rules, under FAQ and there is further description in that section.

You’re completely off the rails.

I am not talking about Haitians. They haven’t slandered anybody. I didn’t even know they were concentrated in a few towns, which is perfectly legal.

I am talking about Trump and Vance who are doing the slandering. That’s why they are being sued.

Thanks for letting me know about your problems. With any luck, someday you’ll grow out of them.

Use the facts and do the math.

I thought your post was right on the mark. And I think Lausten was on the mark of “this isn’t a court of Law,” A “argumentative objection” is the same as “badgering the witness”. Just boils down to the facts. Coffee was using a misdirection and Frankrizzo called him on it.
The word comport was used 44 times yesterday in the US and 91 times worldwide on google.
Over the last 5 years it was used 85 times on yesterday’s date in the worldwide and 61 times in the US on google. (numbers don’t match).
The numbers are not exact, google say the numbers are incomplete. I would estimate over 10% usage of the word ‘comport’ used worldwide by google was used on this site yesterday.
Google has 81.95% share of the global desktop market and 95.37% of the mobile market.

I am not sure this is what Lausten intended.
‘…, but arguing is what internet forums are for.’.

AI Overview - While arguments and debates share some similarities, they differ in several ways, including formality, structure, and purpose:

University of the People - Debates use arguments, but an argument itself is informal, usually unplanned, can get heated, and doesn’t always end in a decision.

I guess an argument could be a debate without structure in several ways.

Mike Yohe is a troll.’ A viewpoint. I have called on Lausten a couple times for trolling me.

Debates need moderators and agreement on structure and rules. We don’t have any of that. This is not a debate.

Enlighten me!..
