I used to be an big christian, but left it for occult practices, since I felt it wasn’t working out for me. During this time I was obsessing over every ghost, demon, UFO, and “New Age” story and trust me some of that stuff is messed up. After reading through numerous stories I started to think and was starting to question these claims. Some of them seemed so bizarre and complete nonsense. After finding out more about this phenomena I found the real story behind these fallacies. So now after this crazy journey I’ve become a skeptic. Hopefully now I can discuss interesting claims and find the truth to these mysteries.

Well its good to see some believers getting a skeptical opinion on some topics. Personally I don’t believe in it because there is no physical evidence, lots of it is fake, the human brain is fallible, and everything we “know” about aliens originated from movies and book like “War of the Worlds” by H. G. Wells. But it would be fun to have some debates on the topic.

There are ground traces, angel hair, pieces of metal, photographs, radar, etc. If the physical evidence is eventually explained by something besides the ET hypothesis, it was still physical evidence. It's not feasible to study every mystery, but UFOs deserve more research than they get IMO. Hopefully the US is quietly studying UFO reports even though Blue Book is dead.
I find that a bit hard to believe. First many photographs and videos are faked, blurry, and mistaken for other objects. I also think the angelic hair seems bullshit since this theory was just made up and there are many religions/ angels don’t exist.

Angel hair usually sublimates but in a few cases the witnesses preserved some samples and scientists studied it. Maybe it's spider webs or maybe it's a colony of fungi from the upper atmosphere - who knows what it is. I saw a documentary about the Portugal sample. There are photographs of the microscope slides, but the actual samples no longer exist due to a fire. If somebody could preserve another sample, we could probably solve the mystery today. If you query "angle hair" in wikipedia you can read about it. Unfortunately I can't make the link work.
I would think it would be a logical explanation besides aliens considering we’re still looking for them at the moment. I think that if aliens had actually come to earth our scientists would be the first ones interacting with them. By the way UFO buff what makes you interested in UFOs and why do you believe in them?

By the way UFO buff what makes you interested in UFOs and why do you believe in them?Probably UFO books satisfy a psychological need or maybe they are simply an escape from reality. A few years ago I had a psychotic episode, but I've found that reading UFO books has been oddly comforting afterwards. I also tend to read UFO books when I'm discouraged about life and they give me something to be curious about. But I think UFOs deserve more serious study. Today's UFOlogists seem to be motivated by money and lack integrity. There seem to be a few cases that are hard to explain, but maybe even those would evaporate with proper investigation. So what attracted you to UFOs and other crazy topics before you gave them up?
Well I was actually interested in these primarily due to my former belief in the occult. So as being a follower of that I read up on all of these odd things. What actually turned me atheist and skeptical was reading about neuroscience and aliens. With neuroscience I discovered that the conscious is created by the brain thus ruling out nearly all spiritual encounters/ ghosts. This was good news for me because before I though I was haunted by these evil spirits, but after some analysis I found that it was caused by my belief and the occult combined with panic/ anxiety attacks. Now when I read about aliens I was fascinated with all of the stories, but as I read more and more I got into the creepier and weirder beliefs and cults. Then I began to question why aliens would act in a way that seemed rather similar to demons or religious beings. As I went on I began to find that it was nearly all based on movies, these things weren’t investigated, and psychology and other sciences began pointing out flaws. After this wild journey I became a skeptic after reading CSI and JREF articles which changed my mind. While I was a believer I was just way to gullible. And I agree with you that we do need to investigate more to find scientifically proven conclusions and who knows maybe the odd case will be connected with aliens, but SETI will most likely find that before aliens get here.

Then the UFO investigator must "make sense" of the statement from the witness. There are multiple layers of psychological distortion. "The Myth and Mystery of UFOs" by Bullard talks about this problem. It's impressive you were able to make so much progress simply by reasoning.

what are these real events you speak of?The typical things like Venus, weather balloons, ... maybe even a flying saucer if they exist - as long as it is sending real photons into the eye of the witnesses. In the case of a hallucination, there may not be a real event.
Without ghost and demons there would not be the cult of the gods.

Sightings in the classical era were attributed to comets. One was even recorded on the Bayeux Tapestry dipicting William the Conquerer's victory in Britain in 1066. Cap't Jack

I wouldn't be surprised, and it's probably the case that pretty much any time someone sees something flying around that they don't understand, the natural reaction is to use whatever experience and stories that they have to explain it. In Williams's case it was considered a good omen. The stories changed to fit the heavenly phenomena, some positive, some negative. BTW, Andrew, you ever heard of the Nebra sky disc? It's the oldest depiction of the moon and stars found so far. It was uncovered in Germany in 1999 and dates to 3,500 BP.
