I previously thought you meant that we know about the recoverable oil / FF available and predicted we have 40 years.
We haven’t exhausted all resources. North Slope:
Biden Administration Defends Huge Alaska Oil Drilling Project
The administration says the country must pivot away from fossil fuels but backed a project set to produce more than 100,000 barrels of oil each day for 30 years.
Sorry, I was very unclear in that post. The estimated total oil available at current usage is about 42 Years. After that any new oil recovery will not be cost effective for commercial use. So the new schedule seems to be about right.
Worldometer
1,459,928,357,743 Oil left (barrels)
15,225 Days to the end of oil (~42 years) (at current consumption).
Of course, as oil gets replaced by electric (coal), the oil reserves will last longer but will also become more expensive.
Coal is the most-used electricity generation source in 18 states; natural gas in 16. Electricity generators that use fossil fuels continue to be the most common sources of electricity generation in most states. Sep 10, 2018
