Cool video - The Power of Logic

I would change that to
“The power of logic and study and humility”
Without the last two you end up with people who think they know everything.
This something which crucially affects politics
Americans are NOT stupid - WITH SUBTITLES - YouTube (a funny demonstration of what I mean)

I don’t understand what they mean by “We go one god further”?
Huhn?

I have no idea what your video has to do with the video this thread is about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORGyNo9H0GA

Oh and retaining a healthy sense of humility is a good thing no matter what you do.
and now that you got me thinking on it…
When I look at the absolutism and certitude religious types keep professing,
I’d say they are in need of remembering the lesson of humility way more than your typical rational thinker.

I don't understand what they mean by "We go one god further"? Huhn?
It means that all theists reject all gods but their own, and atheists "go one god further," and reject ALL gods. It is often phrased as, "I disbelieve in only more god than you do." Lois

I have no idea what your video has to do with the video this thread is about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORGyNo9H0GA I was trying to point out what happens when people try to use logical without studying extensively This may NOT have been the message of the video, but nonetheless for many people, regardless of their religion, logic is defined as "sitting around lazily on my chair and giving my basless opinions without ever reading a book and/or consulting scholars" Most people I have met (whether they be religious people or athiests) do this. I have seen religious people on my campus who give absolute and complete nonsense arguements against evolution. (does the phrase "just a theory" ring a bell for anyone?) I have also seen some (but not all) atheists give biased judgements on religious teachings on the sole reason that their cultural upbrining is the "norm" and everyone else is an idiot. If people want to disagree, that is fine, shouldn't we at least seriously study before we open our mouths and end up embarrasing ourselves? One of the few people who falls outside this is unscholarly camp is http://sheikhhamza.com/recommendations/1 (and note this is out of 7 pages!)

I don’t think “logic” was a good choice because the word describes someone’s thought process regardless of how factual or plausible their assertions are. There can be highly sound logic and completely irrational logic, and everything in between.
