Climate change goes hand in hand with population. Since I have been born the population of the world has more than doubled and will double again by about 2100 - that would be almost 16 billion humans consuming. I will try to say it nicely but I think a big correction is going to happen by our own hands be it war or famine or by nature itself our current growth in population is unsustainable and at some point there will be not enough to go around and many will starve to death. I don’t think I will be here to witness it but i will see the beginning of the end of this life style of extreme waste. With billions more completing for food and goods prices will skyrocket and just daily living will be a task.

Perhaps a heart isn’t the proper icon - I’m just agreeing with your assessment - although I hate it as much as my pal Tex appears to. Although truth be told, we still don’t have a clue what dj is about - but I suspect that’s his plan.

January 20, 2021 update: *The USDA has finalized the rule for growing hemp in the U.S. ffective March 22, 2021, the new rules will extend the timeline until hemp growers must get their crops’ THC levels tested in Drug Enforcement Agency-approved labs, increase the allowance of THC in hemp, and give farmers additional options for disposing of hemp that exceeds federal THC limits.

It became obvious to me some time ago that to deal effectively and rationally with climate change, it can no more be left to the world’s financial aristocracy than dealing with a global pandemic.
Both require the mobilization of the only social class that will defend all that is progressive in modern science and technology, while abolishing the irrational, exploitative and monstrously self-destructive social relations of the profit system.
That means the international working class, under the leadership of the world party of socialist revolution.

I think this thread got derailed at one point, so let’s bring it back to Climate Change.
The IPCC report came out recently, and like Greta Thunberg said, the results were abysmal. I’m not surprised. I’d like to see how things go during the climate summit in November.
But on a positive note, as for how I personally am fighting Climate Change, I’m getting a Tesla Model 3 in just 3 days from now!
Methane is 80 times more potent than CO2. See Methane: A crucial opportunity in the climate fight - Environmental Defense Fund This site convinced me to buy the Tesla.
While I wish we all can switch to electric cars NOW, that alone won’t stop Climate Change. We need solutions that catch, capture and convert the CO2 and CH4 into some other molecule.

An atmosphere 1.1 degrees hotter than in the preindustrial era already produces disastrous changes in rainfall, heat waves and snowstorms. The 1.5-degree rise that is inevitable will have further consequences. A rise by 2 degrees, let alone 3 or 4, would mean catastrophes on the order of the German and Chinese floods taking place every week or every day.
No rational human being would allow the Earth to heat 3 or 4 degrees globally and refuse to participate in climate action. If they do, we should ship them off to Mars!

I believe this pertains to ocean temperature. This will be causal to rapid melting of glacial ice packs but also expand the volume of the oceans themselves. It is anticipated that many coastal areas will have to be abandoned and a massive migration inland will create real all kinds of human and animal social problems.
