A recent Huffpoll cites that 32% of Americans favor making xtianity as their “official” state religion. Two States have been trying to make that happen by passing laws in their respective legislatures, Mississippi (no surprise there) and Michigan? There’s also a movement afoot to amend the Constitution to make xtianity the “national” religion. Fat chance there but there are religious zealots who are actually pushing for this as an end run around the first Amendment to enable private businesses to descriminate against LGBT applicants and to supersede the Civil Rights Acts. It probably won’t happen but the fundies now have more people in power positions in state and national legislatures. Bachmann and Palen may be out but Gohmert and his buddies are definitely in.

We are on our way to having a Christian Taliban. Just wait until they get a toehold. Lois They're already here and they have more than a toehold. They have incerted their religion in many many places, nooks, and crannies. We have only just begun to tease their tendrils out of our institutions and they are screaming pursecution at every turn. It will take years to stem the tide. But, it's a worthy cause.
