Publishing in Nature Scientific Reports, Michael Mann of Pennsylvania State University and a group of colleagues at research institutes in the United States, Germany and the Netherlands find that at least in the spring and summer, the large scale flow of the atmosphere is indeed changing in such a way as to cause weather to get stuck more often.
The study, its authors write, “adds to the weight of evidence for a human influence on the occurrence of devastating events such as the 2003 European heat wave, the 2010 Pakistan flood and Russian heat wave, the 2011 Texas heat wave and recent floods in Europe."
But what does it mean for global warming to alter the jet stream? The basic ideas at play here get complicated fast. The study itself, for instance, refers to “quasi-resonant amplification (QRA) of synoptic-scale waves" as the key mechanism for how researchers believe this is happening — terminology sure to impart terror in nonscientists worldwide. ...
The trouble is that we are in a continuous state of destabilization. If CO2 levels remained constant within the seasonal fluctuation of plants it would probably take at least 20 years for the climate to stablize. But every 4 or 5 years we increase the amount of CO2 by the height of the plant cycle. So a system that tries to become stable can’t. We have been changing it faster for longer than just about anything has done it before, at least in the past few million years. Volcanoes can make this much change so fast but they don’t go on for decades.
So we can just enjoy the ride with 7 billion other people and see who starves first.

The way things are going this insanely disconnected from Earth's geophysical realities Administration is going to perform a sort of sadistic coup de grâce on the last chances to tamp down the speed of change, but nope instead peddle to the metal. It's a tough concept to chew on, but society has written it's death warrant, and the way we are going even a remnant population seems less and less likely by the end of this century - because in the end we are still dependent on our biosphere to sustain us, yet we're destroying it from oceans, to bug life, to forests and rivers.
Like the greedy dog on the bridge glaring down at that other greedy dog with another even juicier looking bone. You can imagine how that story ends.

Of course there is climate change and it can have devastating consequences on the esrth and humanity. Even the most entrenched climate change denier admits there are climate changes going on. Capitalists insist climate change is not caused by human activity because to admit that means there would be a good argument to slow down capitalists’ rape pf the earth. They try to argue that any climate change is “natural” and cannot be controlled. Of course it is “natural”–it is a response to increases in carbon dioxide in the atmostphere caused by the presence of 7 billion people on earth, all of whom are burning something. It can be controlled, but capitalist types don’t want to change their way of exploiting the earth for money, so they deny climate change altogether, or claim it can’t be controlled by humans, so why consider it, let’s just pump more carbon dioxide into the air. As long as it’s someone else who chokes on it first–especially poor people in undeveloped countries, there is no problem. Let the momey flow in. Maybe someone will come up with a remedy someday, but whatever we do, let’s not stop capitalist “progress”
