If you imagine as Superman as God, he isn’t truly all powerful or all good (see Superman vs. Batman). He has weaknesses, which makes him imperfect as well. Yet, compared to a human, Superman is still very much a God.

I’ll just use the Coronavirus metaphor to illustrate his power. It just doesn’t meet the benevolence criteria… hmm maybe I’ll say he uses Divine law to decide who lives or dies as opposed to Natural law that we use.

The answer I get from believers is “God works in mysterious ways”.
I loathe that saying! ? I don't find his ways mysterious whatsoever. Maybe illogical, but not really mysterious.

Here’s the updated parts:

[ … ]

That is, he’s an entity that is boundless and larger than any real or natural number. He cannot be directly quantified, but he can be symbolized, and therefore, he can be conceptually understood – even in the mind of a 5-year-old child.

God’s power is similar to that of the Coronavirus:

  • Omnipotent: can kill any human, regardless of wealth/health/status
  • Omniscient: constantly evolving and mutating into new variants
  • Omnipresent: found everywhere around the world
God's morals are based on Divine law, while humanity's morals are based on Natural law. This is why some people live and some people die; why some people suffer and some people thrive.

I say that God would play an actor because he really loves performing. He actually plays an active role in all our lives, communicating through the hearts of our friends and family, and to our minds through innovation and inspiration.

His primary motivation in life is to ensure that we all live our lives to their fullest. One day you will meet him, and discover all this for yourself. I’m just accelerating this process for you, so that you may obtain this information pre-death.

Yonkey - can u be wrong??

Yonkey – can u be wrong??
I could be wrong about everything... but I don't think I am.... in any case, I don't think the information is inaccurate. Also keep in mind this is a fictional character saying these things, not me. That layer of abstraction acts as a safeguard.

And you believe that will make any difference after death and the pattern of your brain-cells disintegrate into a biochemical soup?

After you die there is nothing, nothing at all. You have simply ceased to exist as a unified sentient whole.

That layer of abstraction acts as a safeguard.
Well then Pink Unicorns do exist. Children love the symbolic representation of Pink Unicorns. What about the Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM), so adored and worshiped by the Pastafarians ?

The layers of conceptual abstraction act as my safeguards against opposite views? I think you will admit that is just not a persuasive argument.

Also keep in mind this is a fictional character saying these things, not me
I missed that. Not sure it's worth catching up on. What's the point of all this?

@write4u

Death

Death: Afterlife

I missed that. Not sure it’s worth catching up on. What’s the point of all this?
My goal in all this is to connect with different people, on different levels. I’m essentially building a global community, and all through the narrative of my personal life experiences, which all happen to be based on truth (since that’s what I like :P) The irony is that it started from writing in a personal journal… and somehow evolved into a public platform.
My goal in all this is to connect with different people, on different levels
Yeah, but you're defining God. That's a pretty specific narrative, usually with a fairly narrow focus.

How are you connecting with people by saying athiest will go to purgatory and judged when they die?

This entry is only 1/6 of my definition. My plan is to write another 5 entries, based on each character's perspective.
How are you connecting with people by saying athiest will go to purgatory and judged when they die?
Everyone will be judged when they die -- athiest or not. As for purgatory, that's only for those who remain adamant on rejecting God's acceptance.

All of the above exist in the world of imaginary fiction. These characters were created for a purpose to illustrate a point. Let's explore!

Invisible pink Unicorns ?: the physical impossibility of an object being both invisible and pink. How is this any more physically impossible than time being both infinite and instantaneous at the moment of the Big Bang?

Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM) ? - “The central creation myth is that an invisible and undetectable Flying Spaghetti Monster created the universe after drinking heavily.” It’s just a main character from a creationist story.

Actually, these two are inspiring me on what to write for my Zola entry: A creation story on the Big Bang, but with science-based imagery. Ooh! Interesting… ?

Ok, I finished writing it but the moderators here keep marking it as spam and deleting it. ?

Ironic that they allow discussion of some creationist stories here (FSM) but not others… ?

What’s the url to the Wikipedia page? The link you put just points to the main page.
Sorry about that. Sloppy editing on my part.

Here it is : Regular - Wikipedia

This link will allow you to connect to the myriad of examples of regularities in nature, which basically proves the importance regularities play in the workings of the universe.

The one I am addressing is under a sub-heading ; Mathematics

Thanks!

Here’s what I have so far:

God and I go way back -- back to the beginning of time. I was a young PhD student in Environmental Studies and he was this tall, dark and handsome stranger.
Zola starts his missive with a subjective statement of his belief, "God was a tall, dark and handsome stranger" ? How am I supposed to read the rest?

I’ sorry, a story of an imaginary stranger whom he got to know intimately is of no interest to me. When I was young, my hero was Beowulf.

My mother was born Zealand and told me the story of Beowulf.

Zealand and Grendel[edit]

When King Hroðgar, his wife Wealhþeow, and his court were terrorized by the monstrous Grendel, Beowulf left Geatland (West Götaland) and sailed to Zealand with fourteen warriors in order to pay his father's debt. During the night, Grendel arrived to attack the sleeping men and devoured one of the other Geats before seizing Beowulf. As no manmade weapon could harm Grendel, Beowulf fought back with his bare hands and tore off the beast's arm. Grendel fled back to the bog to die from his wound, and his arm was attached to the wall of Heorot. The next day, Beowulf was lauded and a skald (scop) sang and compared Beowulf with the hero Sigmund.
However, during the following night Grendel's mother arrived to avenge her son's death and collect weregild. As Beowulf slept in a different building he could not stop her. He resolved to descend into the bog in order to kill her. They fought beside Grendel's corpse, and Beowulf finally won with the aid of an enchanted giant sword stolen from the lair's plundered wooden box.

Now that story spurred me to sail the oceans and visit strange lands . I never regretted my adventures. And now that I am retired from active life, I am exploring the secrets of Reality.

LOL! Zola's a girl who represents Mother Nature.

Sorry, I’ve never written romance before. I just went with a cliche. :stuck_out_tongue:

Very nice story! Was the 2007 movie anything like the poem?

lol, no problem. But did you read the part after that? About the formation of the universe, planets, life, etc. Did that sound accurate enough to you?

Lol… change “his” to “her”, same story…

Beowulf the movie? Oh yes it was a great mythological epic. Beowulf has many battles with monsters. Just look at the movie stars playing the prime characters.

I’m sure you are familiar with Joseph Campbell. His studies of mythological heroes are awesome.

“The Hero with a Thousand Faces” is one of his major works and available on video. I think its available on NetFlix.

The Hero with a Thousand Faces (first published in 1949) is a work of comparative mythology by Joseph Campbell, in which the author discusses his theory of the mythological structure of the journey of the archetypal hero found in world myths.
Since the publication of The Hero with a Thousand Faces, Campbell's theory has been consciously applied by a wide variety of modern writers and artists. Filmmaker George Lucas acknowledged Campbell's theory in mythology, and its influence on the Star Wars films.[1]

The Joseph Campbell Foundation and New World Library issued a new edition of The Hero with a Thousand Faces in July 2008 as part of the Collected Works of Joseph Campbell series of books, audio and video recordings. In 2011, Time placed the book in its list of the 100 best and most influential books written in English since the magazine was founded in 1923.[2]
