Does any of that say what you’ve got? Where’s the intellectual, rational, open minded, evidence based proposition?
No but I’m at a point where I can’t make sense of your obtuseness and argumentative nature so I’m about to apply the Peewee Herman doctrine to agreeing to disagree.
From this point forward in this thread I will agree to disagree with everything you say, period, unless otherwise noted by myself. Any attempts to provoke a response because of this policy will be summarily ignored.
In other words you have absolutely nothing but projection of that.
Plus a litany of ad hominems. Do you know what obtuseness means?
And yes, I have an argumentative nature in the sense of it’s natural for me to use reason to establish what is being said.
No you have an argumentative nature that’s making you look like a fool.
My issue isn’t that you disagree with me, it’s that you’ve come on the thread, ignored the topic and pooped on me for no reason even while I agreed with you on all of the basic facts.
If you come back and re-read the thread with a fresh mind I think you’ll find this behavior is quite clear.
You, are irrational. That’s not ad hominem because it’s now the actual problem. You, actual problem to the argument, not the facts.
I tried many times to bring it back and you just want to be like “omg psuedoscience, everything is a pseudoscience, Harvard and NASA, pseudoscience, no I won’t talk about how to classify a pseudoscience because you believe in pseudosciences even though that’s not even remotely close to what you’re actually saying.”
Is this why you’re always telling people to find peace and walk in the woods and junk? Cause you’re so completely devoid of it that you have to be mindful of it all the time?
I think it may be technically its periapsis since it never closed an orbit around the sun, but nice catch anyways
Edit: Dang, I stand corrected. Stupid advancing science making me learn new things Reddit - Dive into anything
Well, as in business, always deal with the last communication as a basis to move on from.
So we’re both right. Perihelion, like perigee, is a specific form of periapsis, which applies to 'Oumuamua, the scout from the deep past.
The closest analogy to pseudoscience becoming science is when alchemy - a protoscience - became chemistry through empiricism. Overnight with the genius of Robert Boyle in the application of scientific method in his 1661 publication The Sceptical Chymist. The term pseudoscience is not preferred I would say, in the publics sphere, it’s insulting to the beliefs of at least 80% of humanity. We need to avoid it and even terms like non- and un- scientific if we want to catch flies. Just keep asking for evidence.
Well I have been trying to get a good handle on this as I didn’t really have an answer coming in. We’re still going to have to agree to disagree on bio-signatures in the cosmos. For me, these telescopes and science like Avi Loeb’s are the correct way to ask and answer these questions. I smile when he talks about alien stuff because I know it’ll get headlines and piss off his peers and that probably makes him smile too.
Really what the above comes down to is astronomers don’t want to have to talk about aliens all the time. Why do they get to have this say? Doctors don’t get to not talk about Covid. Lawyers don’t get to not talk about Kyle Rittenhouse. Why should only one specific kind of physicist be able to avoid the popular topic they don’t want to discuss?
With UAPs, I think there’s a problem here in that when the state says something exists, it kind of does. Whether by idea or in reality, it exists. At that point it can’t be considered a pseudoscience and demands investigation. If it winds up being bad science, it was never a pseudoscience but rather a state religion.
- Original: The king has asked that the high priest release the pigeons to bless his holy matrimony.
- Mad Lib: The title for ruler has asked that the title for holy person release the type of fake magic to bless his policy.
- New: The general has asked that the press release the UFO videos to bless his hypersonic missile program.
I want Harvard to tell the story, expecting they’ll tell the above. It’s time.
Our epistemologies are alien to each other matt. You have a good day.
A pseudoscience is a term used to describe a science that isn’t legitimate. Often this happens when someone makes up their own rules, draws conclusions about how nature works, fails to acknowledge other people’s work and/or doesn’t follow the same practices that scientists do. People have come up with theories about everything from gravity to magnetism. But nothing that anyone has ever created could even begin to compare to actual, real, pure science.
You may want to rephrase that .
Let’s first define the terms “science”;
Science is the pursuit and application of knowledge and understanding of the natural and social world following a systematic methodology based on evidence.
Scientific methodology includes the following:
- Objective observation: Measurement and data (possibly although not necessarily using mathematics as a tool)
- Evidence
- Experiment and/or observation as benchmarks for testing hypotheses
- Induction: reasoning to establish general rules or conclusions drawn from facts or examples
- Repetition
- Critical analysis
- Verification and testing: critical exposure to scrutiny, peer review and assessment
and “pseudo”
Does pseudo mean fake?
a combining form meaning : in scientific use, denoting close or deceptive resemblance to the following element (pseudobulb; pseudocarp), and used sometimes in chemical names of isomers (pseudoephedrine).
Throughout history, lot’s of science was called pseudoscience before it was tested and proved to be true.
Moreover, lots of pseudo-science was considered true before it was proven false. This is why we adopted the term “hypothesis”, a provisional term until peer reviewed and proven to be true with sufficient evidence.
All of legitimate science is a created description and codification of observed natural phenomena to the best of our current knowledge. But even functional theories on earth are subject to revision or refinement with additional knowledge of space.
That does not necessarily make them pseudo-science. It makes them “incomplete”.
Why did Aristotle believe heavier objects fall faster?
Aristotle further believed that objects fall at a speed that is proportional to their weight . In other words, if you took a wooden object and a metal object of the same size and dropped them both, the heavier metal object would fall at a proportionally faster speed.25 Mar 2019
That was not pseudoscience, but he was unable to test this in space.
Result: true on earth , false in space.
This simple demonstration proved Aristotle wrong.
When experiments suggest that dynamical vibrations can originate patterns.
Then apply this to the entire Universe and we discover:
How then did the Universe begin as a singularity and has expanded (and possibly contracted) in a wavelike manner ever since.
This must gave begun from a compressed state, no?
Two physicists at the University of Southern Mississippi – Lawrence Mead and Harry Ringermacher – announced today (June 26, 2015) that our universe might not only be expanding outward from the Big Bang, but also oscillating or “ringing” at the same time. The Astronomical Journal published their paper on this topic in April.
The new finding suggests that the universe has slowed down and speeded up, not just once, but 7 times in the last 13.8 billion years, on average emulating dark matter in the process.
The ringing has been decaying and is now very small – much like striking a crystal glass and hearing it ring down.

Ringermacher and Mead said they’ve determined that this oscillation is not a wave moving through the universe, such as a gravitational wave, but rather it is a “wave of the universe.” That is the universe as a whole is doing it.
This is beginning to sound like Bohm’s Pilot Wave model (Bohmian Mechanics).
And depending on the harmonics everything inside the universe must also be vibrating.
And that would agree with string theory.
And that would agree with spontaneous pattern formation.
And that would agree with “something from nothing”… and it ain’t magic.
I really liked this comment here and I realize this user may not be around anymore but “pseudo” is found almost everywhere nowadays.
Take the workplace.
You have unqualified people in key positions making dumb calls.
Thanks and i am still here !
That’s not new.
Another example of pseudo-science: Lyssenko.
When ideology and science mix.
Good post and I’m happy to see you’re still around.
“Pseudo” has wide implications in our world today.
From nepotism to woke causes all the way to brute-forcing your way into a group or population.
Well: based on the meaning, Pseudoscience is everything form Quantum Physics to: well: again, everything to do with all Science used today. If the metric system is the base of all calculation: and there is a error from the beginning of it concept. I think the topic said it best: When does something become not a pseudoscience? it seems the main course is all based on theory that is to say What? That can’t be right. But that is how it is and you will believe it so said the laws of Science. or you will be black balled as a pseudoscientist again: that’s not so bad you become the same as everyone else working in Science.
Yeah what you’re describing here touches a bit on careers and egos. There’s the mainstream which is career driven and there’s a minority which approach things from a good heart.
Classic example is Tesla vs Edison.
Tesla wanted free wireless electricity and died poor and alone and Edison said “where do I put the meter?”
eli1: it was not Edison it was JP Morgen that said " the meter thing. And then burnt down tesla’s free energy tower. Egos: I love Egos: It basically sets people into a false sense of worth where only their own worth is of value. The bigger question, Why didn’t People help Tesla to develop his free wireless electric project. In the long run it would have been in their best interest. And Tesla would have still poor but not alone. And as far as Science being pseudoscience again Egos: The Scientist will be totally against something and all agree to be against that whatever, until it is proven to work. Then they will try to take credit for what it is. In their view it was their idea first. And that goes many people, not just Scientist.
I work on Workable technology Perpetual motion devices. most call me a crackpot for doing so. But for the world. The People. A machine that could replace fossil fuels, stop Global Warming, and many other thing is worth being call whatever people what to call me. But unlike Tesla, I will not die poor. I have money mangers that will prevent that.
Tom Wlazlak - EttCM Energy Technologies, Corinne Technical Design Engineering,
If you are interested, I talk about how these devices work.
Well if you’d like to do something good for humanity you should present your work in whatever process we have for new inventions and technology.
And as far as generating interest maybe you should invest a bit more on the presentation skills.
For example I have no idea what you’re saying. So I don’t know why I should contact you further.
Let’s say for the moment that you have the cure for cancer.
This would make you ENEMY NUMBER 1 to all the medical industry and insurance companies.
That doesn’t mean that you would be unable to present your work. Especially today in the day and age of the internet.
I mean Einstein who was working in an office all day as a clerk, come up with brilliant ideas which he submitted on paper for review.
So you can do the same.
In what you have said so for mean you are willing to help in some way. Thank you.
I worked mostly as a Engineer most of my life. Most do not understand Einstein’s work. I did not like the Theory of Relativity because it does not work correct.
So I developed a new concept how perception of light reacts to speed. It was published in 2002 no one knows it exist. People don’t want new ideas that are beyond their understanding. its Scary!
presentation skills, how do you present something that will help everyone: Only no one wants it.
You have no idea what I am saying. Just a little research or a bit more will solve that issue. if you wanted to do so.
Thank you eli1,
In 2001 I presented a device motor that runs without using electric power at an Energy Conference in Seattle. The Grand son of the Sheik of the UAE middle east contacted me. He offered me a million dollars a year job, that is another story.
Mostly, The people that submit paper for review are ones that want 15 minutes of fame. I have already had that. It did not work out so well.
Also for them that do you-tube their world becomes inundated with emails of Bs.
What I am doing is baby steps. to allow people time to change their minds on how they view what they have been programed to believe.
Most people I ask if they want to see a workable energy system the runs on its own power that does not need fuel of any kind are very scared of doing so.
Why ? because they have been programed to be scared of this technology.
Baby steps. maybe is a good presentation skill.
I have had meeting with Billionaires several times in my life. Presentation skill.
I don’t think that is the problem.
Thanks, are you also scared of seeing this technology? Programed.
