US and Iran sign peace deal

Summary of the MOU. Losers are Israel and US

Mehr News has released a short version of the 14-clauses of the MoU that will be
signed on Friday, between Iran & US.

1. The permanent and immediate halt of war on all fronts, including Lebanon.

2. A U.S. commitment not to interfere in Iran’s internal affairs and to respect
the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

3. The complete lifting of the naval blockade within 30 days.

4. A U.S. commitment to withdraw its forces from the areas surrounding Iran.

5. The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days under Iranian
“arrangements”.

6. The suspension of oil sanctions, petrochemical products and derivatives, and
Iran’s full access to the financial proceeds from them.

7. The requirement for the US & its allies to present reconstruction plans for
Iran worth at least $300 billion.

8. Sixty days of negotiations to reach a final agreement based on nuclear issues
and the complete lifting of primary and secondary U.S. sanctions, as well as UN
Security Council resolutions and resolutions of the IAEA Board of Governors.

9. Iran’s reiteration of its commitment under the NPT not to produce nuclear
weapons.

10. During the negotiation period, the U.S. has committed not to add to its
forces in the region and not to impose any new sanctions.

11. The release of $24 billion of Iran’s frozen funds during the 60-day period
of final negotiations. Half of this amount must be made available to Iran before
the negotiations begin.

12. The formation of a supervisory mechanism to implement the agreement.

13. The final agreement will be approved through a UN Security Council
resolution.

14. Final negotiations will not begin before half of Iran’s frozen funds are
released, Iran’s oil sanctions are suspended, and the naval blockade is
lifted. The final agreement will be limited only to the fate of enriched
materials and enrichment, sanctions relief, and the program for rebuilding
Iran’s economy. Discussions about Iran’s missile program and support for
Resistance groups have been definitively removed from the agenda.

On Meet The Press yesterday, when Welker asked about the $300billion for reconstruction, James Lankford said she was getting her information off the Internet. He offered no alternate source or facts. I can’t trust any reports of what’s actually being agreed to.

In my view, the Iranians simply must understand that there will be more serious warfare to conduct before the US withdraws its forces from the region, and Israel withdraws from Lebanon.

That is why they are demanding their frozen assets in cash. Up front.

Immediately.

French medias have confirmed the 300 milliards.

And yes, Trump is a big loser in this whole business. Not a surprise.

Another example of what I’m talking about, a headline 5 min ago in The Guardian

Middle East crisis live: Trump claims ships carrying oil are moving out of strait of Hormuz after US and Iran agree deal

It is now normal to not trust the President of the US on a simple and confirmable statement. If he said it was raining, everyone in the room would look out the window.

This is analysis I can actually believe

What about this analysis.

Can u believe it ?

Trump says he’ll read the MOU to reporters, while some in Congress say they haven’t seen it.

Lausten attention on congress approval for the plan rather than democrats rejection of it .

Un fecking believable .

Trump is getting ripped by the right wing National Review. Here’s the key, something I would any basic opinion page should be pointing out,

But to the extent the MOU is something, it is something very bad because if it were something good, we’d be reading it, not being spun about it

Hopefully this link allows you a limited number of free reads

It’s well done sarcasm.

The president is an impetuous man who would not be able to contain himself if the written MOU were of even marginal benefit to the United States; he would be far more comfortable exposing it and exaggerating the marginal benefit as if it were a coup.

The fact that he isn’t sharing it IS the news. He wants spin, he wants theatre, farce, argument. He wants to control the narrative as long as he can.

“The fact that the Trump administration refuses to publish the MOU — refuses even to brief the Gang of Eight on it — is powerful implication that it is at least as bad as close watchers suspect it is.”

Its a humiliating surrender by the USA . Thats why the message has to be controlled

“emphasized that it is a member of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). That is what NPT members that aspire to nuclear weapons do. And as I recounted yesterday, just to make bigger fools out of us,”

NPT allowed iran to enrich to 3% a waste to be processed offshore. The author lies again

“Iran has also maintained that Ayatollah Khamenei even issued a fatwa against nukes (Khamenei was not qualified to issue fatwas, there wasn’t one in any event,”

" The point is that Iran gets access to funds — through sanctions relief and whatever cockamamie “investment fund”

So what ? Why is that a bad thing ?

“Iran’s funds. Well, yes, that’s what frozen means — we arrange to intercept their revenue and hold it where they can’t get it. That’s because, when they get it, they use it for terrorism, ballistic missiles, the nuclear program, domestic human-rights abuses, and so on.”
The money belongs to iran . Israel and USA started this war with terrorism and war crimes . Every country has the right to nuclear program and who is this joker to wag the finger at iran on human rights abuse in a country that promotes it when it suits imperial goals

"Am I wrong that this MOU is a disaster? "

Why is it a disaster ? For who ? What does the author propose ? More war ??

There is no point in me engaging a point like this. It’s not really a “point”. It’s in search of a point.

The iranians have leaked the details of the MOU .

Whats your position on this ? Is it a mistake for trump to sign ?

Trump had a moment of clarity. He stated that he could continue bombing Iran for months, with the same lack of results.

He had not much choice.

This agreement is a capitulation. It’s not certain that Congress will ratify it.

Congress not needed to approve war but needed to approve peace.

Thats the authoritarian US state for you

The mistake Trump made was starting the war. His choices for how to end it are extremely limited
