The Truth about "WhatsUpWithThatWatts, et al" (citizenschallenge)

Since 3rd… brought it up,

I checked out your profile links and put the pieces together, gotta say it makes sense you are the son of a nazi, you must carry a lot of guilt. That's why you are messed up, besides your drug use. Let me tell you that you will never atone for your fathers actions, so give it up.
I want take this opportunity to take a look at how Republican PR Machine targets and slanders anyone engaged in proactively explaining and defending serious climate science. Late last year one "Poptech" and I engaged in debating the validity of various aspects of climate science. It didn't go so good for Poptech and his misrepresentation and omissions. However, rather than considering any of the information I was offer that clearly disputed his claims. He ran off to the comfort of his "clubhouse" and typed out a blistering attack on me. In that attack he did he internet research well and used a few discussion threads from here at CFI to weave his tale of chilling character assassination. I only found out through a tip from an internet friend of mine and then having another debate-mate us it to attack me in another discussion. As you could expect I publicly confronted the bullshit. I reproducing the entire text of Poptech's January 30th diatribe, filling in some missing details and correcting some lies.
Lord of the Flies (#8 Poptech's Truth) http://whatsupwiththatwatts.blogspot.com/2016/02/lord-of-flies-poptechs-truth.html
Has anyone ever confronted me on any of the basics? Or any of the details? Nope. Nah, thus now every so often I will find another joker tossing it in my face. Pretty weak. Actually, if this contrived nonsense is the best they can come up with, it speaks pretty good of my character. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Here's the intro to that response I link to:
Lord of the Flies (#8 Poptech's Truth) I thought I could avoid Anthony Watts and Poptech's attack piece on me, figuring I'd get to it later. But my old pal AL (a debate mate from this past November 23 to December 13th in the "debating sock-puppet" series.) just couldn't resist rubbing it in my face, and since his link went to Poptech's post, I figured, OK in for a nickel, in for a dollar.

Oh boy, talk about desperation to dig up shit, well they dug and they dug and oh the facts and links they've unearthed. But, even more impressive than what they unearthed - is the bizarre theatrical spin they put on everything. All dedicated to maligning me and ignoring the evidence and the ideas I challenge them with. What they deliberately ignore is that I'm just a messenger talking about the science and I am always ready to support my claims with references back to the authoritative science I learned from. If you don't believe me, try me. On the other hand these clowns spend all their effort putting their fantastical labels on people and spinning hallucinatory yarns while claiming superiority and victory... as though it's their's to claim. They make lots of noise about the science, yet they never produce any serious science when they are challenged. Instead it always reverts to a malicious mud fight. It's worth making a big deal about because powerful leaders like Inhofe and Barton and the rest hide behind this sort of insanity to justify doing nothing and wasting precious time. I've copied Poptech's "Truth about WUWTW" and pasted it below and diluted the 'horror' with some more facts and commentary. I eliminated some links, but I kept most, to be honest it was cool revisiting some of those pages. __________________________________________________

{What's wrong with that? At least I don't take myself so seriously, nor do I have illusions about being smarter than actual scientists. Yo, poppy do you have any sense of humor, or self-skepticism?}
Peter Miesler ("Pete the Carpenter") is a brain-dead stoner {Smacks of desperation and hatred}/ framing carpenter with a high school diploma who likes to spam emotional and unsubstantiated nonsense {Note: no examples offered.} around the Internet under the username 'citizenschallenge'.

Heck I’m having a tough time finding my dad’s obituary.
But I did find this.
Nearing 50 he went back to college did some learning, earned some degrees and wound up creating Day-Break Geriatric Massage Institute.
Ain’t nothing there to be ashamed of. But when character assassination is all that’s on brain, that’s all you’ll find. I wish I could find the magic words to get these kinds of people to pull their heads out of their arses and look around at the real world out here. Yeah, you know who I’m talking to. :smirk:

http://www.daybreak-massage.com/about/history/ The History of Day-Break Geriatric Massage Institute The Day-Break Geriatric Massage Project was founded by Dietrich Miesler in 1982. Now known as the Day-Break Geriatric Massage Institute, the organization currently has four accredited instructors who teach weekend workshops in Geriatric Massage. Day-Break is approved as a continuing education provider by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB), by the Florida State Massage Therapy Association (FSMTA), and also by the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC). In June of 2000, Dietrich retired from active practice and continued to research and write. The operation of the Institute is now in the capable hands of Dr. Sharon Puszko, now the Owner and Director of Day-Break. His life’s journey began in Breslau, Germany, on July 20, 1925. On May 22, 2006, Dieter Werner Miesler departed on that greatest of trips following complications of pneumonia and long standing Parkinson’s disease. Dietrich entered the massage field in 1975 and founded the Day-Break Geriatric Massage Project (currently known as the Day-Break Geriatric Massage Institute) in 1982. With a background as a gerontologist and a nursing home administrator, he brought significant knowledge and caring to his elderly clients through therapeutic massage. He produced numerous courses and teaching aids about the muscle system and massage treatments tailored to geriatric clients with varying needs. He was also a long-time columnist for Massage & Bodywork Magazine. Dietrich left his native Germany in 1955 and moved to the United States, where he raised his five children and pursued his varied artistic interests, including jazz, photography, and publishing. In 2001, he left Day-Break to focus on research and writing. We will miss his irrepressible, witty, charming spirit.
My passion for learning about and appreciating this planet (I was born out of and will die back into) didn't evolve out of a vacuum. :coolsmirk:
I want to take a look at how Republican PR Machine targets and slanders anyone engaged in proactively explaining and defending serious climate science.
Good example here. Political saboteurs aren't after you because of your global warming internet activism- btw marijuana use leads to feelings of paranoia, seriously ] - and my engagement with you has nothing to do with the climate. It's about your strange overreaction to my Trump support, which seems to stem from a sense that Trump is a white supremacist and potential nuke dropper and anyone who supports him is motivated by racism. You posted links which lead to criticisms of your character that you've acknowledged to be accurate and I deduced that those character descriptions are probably what causes your way of thinking. Any "ammo" you give can be used against you and this is the internet after all; that's what it comes down. Tldr, give up drugs and stop feeling so guilty, people might take you more seriously.

Lacking facts, 3rdside has nothing but ad hominem attacks and innuendo to support his opinions.

Political saboteurs interesting spin you put on it. No the point isn't that they are singling me out, Poptech's article, your source, speaks for itself! Back to the singling out, yes that would be bullshit. It is a tactic used agains everyone who tries to communicate climate science. This is more about Poptech and his bullshit, then you another nutter passing it along. As for Trump, excuse me that I'm scared about an egomaniacal fool like that at the head of our government. He's said some idiot things on climate too. PS. You'll notice this really isn't about you. The incident simply provided another example. FYI, as it happens, just finished with the project. Take a look if you like. :coolsmirk: (safety glasses)

It wasn't overreaction. It's exactly the same way every other rational American citizen reacts to Trump supporters. In order for it to be an overraction it would have to be a lot more than other citizens react, and it isn't. You should take your own advice about giving up drugs and feeling guilty, though I doubt you've ever felt genuine guilt about anything. It's a Republican disease.

Funny how from 3rdside's point of view pointing out Donald Trump's business failures, misogyny, racism, narcissism, mocking a disabled reporter, ad naseum is written off as "splitting hairs," then 3rdside turns around and slanders another forum member and sees nothing wrong with it. I have seen that behavior from conservatives many times; when you don't have facts to back your arguments resort to personal attacks and lies. 3rdside has crossed over any line of decency into obvious abusive behavior.
