Take a religion:
Judaism, Mormonism, Christianity, Scientology, native, the jones cult, Islam, Buddhism, daoism, Confucianism, Shakespeare, the great philosophers, Sikhism, the list goes on and on…
We have one simple irreducible truth: sexual stratification of number of partners causes agitation and anger turned inward and outward on the stratified sex, especially when no tradition of “peace” has espoused it.
That’s it.
A benevolent creator or philosopher would have stated this at the outset on every world in its formation of morality.

However I also believe it is a result of natural evolution. Basically a natural function of a survival technique. Most living things have to compete for resources and by natural selection there is division of labor. This is already apparent in the insect world where there is specialization for defense and maintenance of the hive. Some species have escaped this path and formed a symbiotic relationship with other species, such as the honeybee and flowering plants. This has proven to be extremely successful and has resulted in the honeybee being responsible for the growing some 70% of the world's entire food supply. However hive insects are also Matriachic , where the females far outnumber the males, which are used only for defense or procreation. The drones in a bee hive are unable to feed themselves and are fed by the females until after the queen has mated, after which the males are forced from the hive and will die from starvation. A similar scheme is used in ant hives, where the males are big soldiers with great fighting skills, but again are unable to feed themselves, except they are needed for the survival of the hive itself, which not a requirement in the more inaccessible and protected beehives. But it is the females who always do the maintenance of the hive itself. Specialization of functions, necessary in the insect world and which also proved successful in their specific environments. As animals grew in size, competition increased proportionally and resulted in the natural selection of stronger, bigger males for protection against predators, which proved successful for the continuation of the species.. This survival strategy was inherited by hominids, where the males were bigger stronger and superior hunters. Of course this eventually evolved in male dominated societies, with the exception of the Bonobo chimpanzee, which retained their matriachical society. OTOH the Common Chimpanzee society is Patriachical and as they are our closest cousins it is no surprise this type of society was passed on to early humans. But today where the females have access to machines which do most of the work of home maintenance, they now have time to pursue other interests, some which are competitive with traditional male pursuits. It is no surprise that males resist this competition, which only recently was partly resolved, at least by law, but not necessarily in practice. Men are still bigger and stronger than the average female and combined with their aggressive nature, there are still many societies where women are being kept subservient. And often in only in the name of religious tradition, not for a natural division of labor and responsibility. It seems we have now entered a new age where women demand equal respect and treatment as males give each other, and rightly so. Physical strength has become secondary to mental abilities, and women are just as intelligent as men. But changing social tradition is a slow process and will take several more generations to for complete equality and respect becomes standard acceptable human behavior.
