Republicans and Same Sex Marriage

‘This decision will not stand’: Republicans seek common cause against same-sex marriage
After the supreme court made gay marriage legal in all 50 states, conservatives are united in opposition but divided over how best to pursue their cause.
Didn’t they say something similar about the Civil Rights Act? About Abortion Rights? Republicans never change their spots, just their issues.

I’m sure they will continue to fight it just as they continue to search for anti-abortion candidates. What they fail to grasp is that the constituency to which they cater is rapidly diminishing. They want the majority to vote for their presidential candidate (whoever that ends up being) and yet they metaphorically stick out their middle finger to that same majority.
On a related but somewhat tangential part of this issue is that worn out cry for the “traditional marriage”. The definition that has held up “for a millennium”. By traditional, do they mean the type of wedding of the 1950’s or earlier in which the woman was subservient to the man? Do they mean between members of the same race? Do they mean an arranged marriage from the 19th Century? We’ve changed the definition multiple times in my lifetime alone, let alone a millennium.
50 years from now, the Republican Party we know today, will be dead. On it’s tombstone it will read: Born of Ignorance; Died of Stupidity.
