Religion anf global warming

So it’s not stupid religious people causing global warming, according to this guy. Extracting wealth from colonized areas led to secularism but it didn’t lead to caring about the people left behind. Science doesn’t teach people what to believe, culture does that.

If we ignore culture and wait for science to fix our pollution problems, we will still have the problem of not caring about people who believe differently than us.

Greta is not peddling hard enough according to the media that pretends it cares

That cuts to the heart of the fact that science is about FACTs, based on observation and measurement.
Science is dedicated to learning about and teaching others, all about what we can learn about Earth and natural process, biology and all that.

Science is not about telling people what to do, and it doesn’t try to do so - though ruthless dishonest PR efforts paint a different picture, climate scientist have done the jobs superbly and they have included frank discussions of problems and areas needing better research and understanding.

Science is about explaining the situation and expecting other players, that is our business and political leaders, and citizens to step up to the proverbial plate, to learn and draw their own conclusions, then make their decisions wisely .

But what people do with that knowledge - that’s not science’s jobs - only only rarely do scientists weigh in on morality. “These are the facts, figure it out. Own the problem, take some responsibly, make some wise decisions, and be able to explain them.”

That is the “scientific attitude” but of course . . .

Sadly we see how poorly that approach has worked for humanity.

Yeah, ain’t that the truth. It’s been weird for myself, spending my life time of caring about people, sharing experiences learning and teaching, dancing the dance.
Slowly coming to grips with the utter inhumanity some, no many, possess,
How money and power and greed drives people into a regression into a brute Chogladite state of mind - me, me, me.

How the super rich, really and truly don’t give a fk how many thousands, or millions, or billions get wiped out. After all they are the slave owners - what are we, the rest of humanity, to these self-imagined God’s to have the brute force to make people go along with the delusion.

Seems to me the better nature in humanity has been spending an eternity trying to escape and evolve into something where our … I don’t know the right word, latent maybe - but people had been striving so long for a place where our better nature could come to the fore - and USA made it happen. Our Constitution, our form of government, is about as good as humans can do.
But it required constant vigilance - people needed to feel invested in their government -

“Democracy requires an informed and engage electorate”

isn’t a hollow soundbite - it is the recipe that made America possible {Though we should not forget that it’s our new world of boundless possibilities’ that really make America - we never learned to appreciate that }

So why the heck doesn’t this:

Those predicting that religion would soon collapse tended to share the view that scientific and intellectual progress would prove incompatible with widespread religious faith. Alas, our best scientific evidence tells us that this simply isn’t how religion or science or atheism work.

How societies secularize

In my recent book Disbelief: The Origins of Atheism in a Religious Species

So why doesn’t this start with the fundamental observation that your body is the cumulative product of half a billion years of Earth’s process; and that your sense of self, your thoughts 'n beliefs are the cumulative product of the experiences of all the days of your life upon this Earth.
It is your own body that creates the thoughts dancing through your mind, along with your sense of self. Religions and Gods are our own internal creations -

J’z, those thoughts need to be pronounce from every rafter and in front of every article presuming to talking on any aspect of the topic.
All the rest of this stuff: global secularism and on and on . . .

My verdict
Will religion fade away, as learned men over the centuries have predicted?
I mean what planet is this dude living on - trump and MAGA aren’t are religion? It’s that sort of self-delusion that I’ve gained the deepest contempt for.

Talk for talk sake . . . Totally missing the conundrum of our age, and what got us here.

talk about Sacred and secular:
But not a word about this physical planet or how it created us, etc. etc.

We’re too beyond that, but that the root cause of our failure so it’s worth talking about
