I'm not sure how you would draw that conclusion from my remarks. I think the conclusion is more that people should vote to policies that influence them, not to vote based on tribal identities. There is a discrepancy between what people want and between what people really need. There might be a big hole in the roof in a flat, 90% of inhabitants will vote to repair it and pay for the repairs, 10% will vote to keep the money. Party identity (or other identity based voting) is partially caused by fact that people live in social bubbles and they either dont have information, have distorted information, or are not interested in particular matter. In all these cases they might vote against their own interests, or against common interests, sometimes - as you noted - when they simply identify with the group and they are following interests of the group.
In the beat goes on department, the GOP descent into totalitarian trumpian thinking has only accelerated.
Here’s an interesting update and a Democrat explaining why the filibuster needs to be amended and at least demand that ANYONE involving the filibuster needs to stand on their feet and explain themselves and then keep on talking - that’s how the law was originally written. This bull crud, of filibuster by email, or phone call, or simply using the word is insane and easily misused as the party of totalitarian thinkers makes clear.

Rachel Maddow shares highlights of Senator Maggie Hassan explaining her change in position on excepting voting rights from the filibuster and expresses her dismay at Republicans who would not act to preserve democracy in the United States.
Her words are worth listening to and heeding.
Senator Maggie Hassan "… but let me be clear about the reason that I now support an adjustment to the long-standing rules of the senate and it is because I never imagined when I signed that letter that not a single member of the Republican Party would stand up for our democracy since January 6, when we saw an acceleration of state laws that would allow partisans to overturn the impartial count of an election.
But if we do not have a functioning democracy where people know that when they vote that vote will be impartially counted and upheld and the people who are defeated will accept defeat so that they can have an accountable elected representation in Washington, then there is no democracy and when I signed that letter I never imagined that today’s republican party would fail to stand up for democracy …
Speaking of Party-line voting, more Republican dirty tricks in action -
Some residents in Miami say their voter registration was unknowingly changed from Democrat to Republican. CNN’s Randi Kaye reports on why one Florida lawmaker is calling for an investigation into voter registration tactics. #CNN #News
How do Republicans justify this sort to dirty sh§¶?
Speaking about party line voting how about those Republicans such as Nikki Haley who have a hate-on for all Americans who dare think differently than Trumpster Republican’s and or anyone who refuses to bow down to their MAGA machine?
MAGA man
I listened to the Terry Gross interview today, the one about how the Party has changed, I was struck by the idea that they are now the “party of Trump” but they will be doing it without Trump. Trump is now is a liability, but they learned from him what they could get away with, and how to rally the people in this country who have always lived with the idea that they are privileged, entitled to the rights they had 100 years ago.
So, when you say “Republicans”, it’s not a top-down, planned effort. It’s a lady in a red hat tricking some old person who can’t read into switching parties. It’s small efforts, that don’t make big headlines, and are hard to track down and prevent.
