I think he was saying something ridiculous as a comment on Lozrnges ridiculousness
Oh man! It most certainly is. I never intend to insult. Still, I have been on both sides of unintended consequences.

And he won’t do it again! ![]()
Lozenge is probably scracthing his head right now
The article you sent itself acknowledges tremendous progress in global poverty reduction.
You really had to look hard for that didn’t you? Of course things have changed. Mostly because we are using fossil fuel instead of animal power. The question is, does the system need impoverished labor? That is, people so desperate, they will do anything for $.
Instead of looking at the $/day. Look for the word vulnerable in the article.
“Instead of looking at the $/day. Look for the word vulnerable in the article.” just illustrates what I responded before:
"Of course things have changed. Mostly because we are using fossil fuel instead of animal power. "
Because we allowed people, ordinary people, to innovate. This is called liberalism (aka equality before the law and free-market).
But we allowed that innovation without considering how it affected the planet, and its people. Pre capitalism, innovation was done by exploration, they left the confines of their tribe and went and did what they wanted. That often meant destroying landscapes and whole populations.
Capitalism is supposed to be a way to build communities, to create ways of working together. But too many take the freedom and innovation as the goals, as if they invented those ideas, and forget about the people who built the community.
I think I already addressed those issues.
This comment sounds to me quite abstract.
Maybe you think you did. Maybe you think an average daily spending of $100 means individualistic capitalism is better, I don’t know. You write long posts without really backing them up, then change your line of thought in response to responses.
You have convinced me of nothing since you’ve been here. When listed sources, I told you I was aware of them and their flaws. You are making the claims, defend them.
My point is not to convince people, I am not a lawyer, nor a propagandist, nor a journalist debating on TV shows.
Fine. It still doesn’t help the conversation when get defensive about how knowledgeable you are.
I think you are searching for problems, sorry. I don’t wish to continue those conversations.
I wish you wouldn’t continue them. That’s one possible response to what I’m saying
Reminds me of the philosophy professor who told me my writing is confused about God, because what people assign to god, is different from the Being of God, and that I don’t recognize that.
I asked him, then formalized it in a little flier I shared with the club, that finished with the question: “How does an Assumption of God, become a Being of God?”
Crickets, still crickets over a half year later.
But, I’m supposed to be in awe of philosophers, and dare not draw any conclusions from my experiences? Sorry Coffee, that was just venting and not pointing at you. You are like a breath of fresh air.
Wake up and smell the Coffee has taken on an entirely new meaning.

That’s funny!
I enjoy your perspective as well, CC. ![]()
