Iran Nuclear Deal

Abraham Foxman is probably monitoring this thread.
If so, I would say that I am not defaming the Jewish Democratic Congressmen because they are Jewish, but rather because of their disloyalty to their party, their President, and their country (assuming that they consider their country to be the USA).

So, a special interest lobbying group is sponsoring 81 congressmen to go to Israel to be indoctrinated to vote against the Iran nuclear deal.
Do our other “allies” have special interest lobbying groups that will give our congressmen vacations in their countries that are designed to specifically influence particular congressional actions?
I’m asking. I don’t know the answer. If so, it seems like an abominable way to let our government be run. If not, and it is only Israel that does such a thing, then what does that say about Israel’s undue influence on what we our govt does?

Tim, it is not just Israel’s influence, it is a religious influence. Say something against a Jew, and you piss a Christian off. Are you sure some of the congressmen aren’t doing this to gain Christian votes back home?

It speaks volumes. Lois

Are you sure some of the congressmen aren’t doing this to gain Christian votes back home? Of course many of the congressmen are eaten up with their weird version of Christian theology and that of their constituents. But those are mostly Republicans. And I already knew that they can be counted on to be more loyal to their theology than to the actual best interests of their country. It is more surprising to me that a significant number of Jewish Democratic congressmen would be more loyal to the Israeli hardliners than to the best interests of the US, and their party, and their President, and the world, for that matter. Hence I am specifically calling them out, because, perhaps they are redeemable. The Republican theocrats have made it consistently and abundantly clear that they are not redeemable.

Jewish Democrat Senator, Brian Shatz, shows his loyalty to his party, President and country by supporting the Iran deal. He states:
“…This agreement is not based on trust or shared values, and we have no reason to assume that the Iranians will comply with its terms in good faith. That is why the agreement includes an unprecedented inspections and verification regime that will be in place for up to 25 years. We will be monitoring Iran’s entire nuclear supply chain—from uranium mining, milling, and enrichment to the manufacturing and replacement of centrifuges—so we will know if Iran is diverting uranium or centrifuges to secret facilities. If we believe that Iran is conducting illicit activities at suspicious sites, the International Atomic Energy Agency can request immediate access to those areas. If Iran denies access, it will be in breach of the agreement and UN sanctions will be reimposed. […]
This agreement should not be compared to an imaginary deal where Iran rolled over, and eliminated all its centrifuges and all peaceful nuclear energy generation. That was never seriously on the table. It should be compared to its real world alternative—an unraveling of the international sanctions, Iran moving ever faster towards the bomb, and our country left with few choices other than another war in the Middle East."
(edited to include Brian Shatz’s name after I realized I hadn’t included it) He impresses me as a clear thinking guy.
