I’m thinking this is more trauma and not rumination.
This has happened over and over, since you started here. You refer to “they” and I can’t tell where you are getting it. Which they? The psychologist, the dopey website guys? When you get specific, I can see where you are adding your interpretation, and you seem to agree when I point that out. Then you go back to this general “they”. I can’t respond to that.
That sentence isn’t internally consistent.
Yet we are forced to make decisions, that have their cascading consequences, that will impact your future development and thinking.
If it’s trauma shouldn’t you see a trained specialist, rather than YouTube gurus?
I like this by one Youtube guru:
“Humans cannot control but can influence the future” . And that often is “influence in a bad way”.
Hence the ongoing 6th mass extinction.
What is the sixth mass extinction and what can we do about it?
© Roger Leguen / WWF© WWF / Simon Rawles© WWF / Simon RawlesA mass extinction is a short period of geological time in which a high percentage of biodiversity, or distinct species*—bacteria, fungi, plants, mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, invertebrates—*dies out. In this definition, it’s important to note that, in geological time, a ‘short’ period can span thousands or even millions of years. The planet has experienced five previous mass extinction events, the last one occurring 65.5 million years ago which wiped out the dinosaurs from existence. Experts now believe we’re in the midst of a sixth mass extinction.
What’s causing the sixth mass extinction?
Unlike previous extinction events caused by natural phenomena, the sixth mass extinction is driven by human activity, primarily (though not limited to) the unsustainable use of land, water and energy use, and climate change. Currently, 40% of all land has been converted for food production. Agriculture is also responsible for 90% of global deforestation and accounts for 70% of the planet’s freshwater use, devastating the species that inhabit those places by significantly altering their habitats. It’s evident that where and how food is produced is one of the biggest human-caused threats to species extinction and our ecosystems. To make matters worse, unsustainable food production and consumption are significant contributors to greenhouse gas emissions that are causing atmospheric temperatures to rise, wreaking havoc across the globe.
The climate crisis is causing everything from severe droughts to more frequent and intense storms. It also exacerbates the challenges associated with food production that stress species, while creating conditions that make their habitats inhospitable. Increased droughts and floods have made it more difficult to maintain crops and produce sufficient food in some regions. The intertwined relationships among the food system, climate change, and biodiversity loss are placing immense pressure on our planet.

Well I can’t stop it, my head is literally all over the place with this. But by them I mean this dude in the lessons, Gary.
I guess the way that I see it is that prior to his I thought emotions were sorta like objective facts about the world, that we agree on. But if he’s right that it’s just our beliefs that cause it and not the things then I don’t know what to do. I don’t know what it means? And I don’t really know because they don’t really explain it (him and the people on the site). Do I trust my feelings? How does a belief create the emotion and why certain emotions, why do some beliefs lead to only anger and others joy? What does it all mean? What am I supposed to do? What is the right answer?
Am I supposed to tell other people that stuff doesn’t make them happy, angry, or sad, that it’s just their beliefs and they’re telling lies when they do that? Every time I watch media now it intrudes when I think something “makes” me feel, that feeling is interrupted by “LIES”. So now I feel backed up mentally and emotionally unable to let anything feel because apparently nothing makes us feel and we have a choice over it. But if I have a choice then what’s the right one?
It’s not. New information does shape us but we don’t control how.
Those decisions are based on things out of our hands.
Trained specialists cost money.
Good old united states the richest country in the world. Plenty of money for war but sadly found wanting when it comes to public health services especially mental health
Of course, we could ask why some people still have mental problems despite the wealth and available luxuries.
You don’t need to acquire an expert skill to make a good living.
What, are you an inanimate object, subject to every wisp that comes along?
Don’t you ever need to decide which way to turn, whether to walk or sit, and so on?
What, are you an inanimate object, subject to every wisp that comes along?

That decision is based on factors that I don’t control. The things I find convincing, the circumstances at the time, like…you seem to imply some form of free will.
we could ask why some people still have mental problems despite the wealth
Its called The profit motive…
Universal health care is something that can be provided in rich countries and poor ones. The care provided should be proportionate to the needs of the population, its resources, and its most important principle is that it is done equably - no one individual should feel short changed as compared with any other in the same society. If the country is more economically equable this will happen by default, the problem arises because of the severe destructive economic imbalances in so many countries. There is no need for health care corpses in a well run fair society whatever its wealth…
You don’t need to acquire an expert skill to make a good living.
You kinda do.
Also wealth and luxury doesn’t equate to mental health. You have to actually invest in that for it to work.
You kinda do
Entry level jobs are $17/hr now
Entry level jobs are $17/hr now
And yet aren’t hiring. Also that’s not really true, most are still around $15.
Also he made some remark:
“:Do you call what you feel a lie, or does your mind do it automatically? I say this. I want you to commit to automatically calling your emotions a lie. And if it keeps happening, then it is not you that is doing it. It is an automatic program of the mind. It is okay to make this distinction.”
Though by that logic wouldn’t my sexuality be the same? Am I to say I’m not gay because of this?
And yet aren’t hiring.
I don’t live under a rock
And yet aren’t hiring. Also that’s not really true, most are still around $15.
The reason for that is there are not enough people who will do the service oriented tasks.
Those jobs are gladly done by immigrants making $15.00 p/hr.
The reason for that is there are not enough people who will do the service oriented tasks.
That doesn’t make sense. If there aren’t enough people, then someone who applied would have a good chance.
I vacation on the north side shore of lake superior. They hire people from all over the world for seasonal service jobs.
That doesn’t make sense. If there aren’t enough people, then someone who applied would have a good chance.
No, there are not enough available bodies to fill the need.
No, there are not enough available bodies to fill the need.
That’s what I’m saying, if you are a “body” and there is a need, then you can get the job.
This started with
And yet aren’t hiring
You and I agree there is a need, that is, they are hiring.
You and I agree there is a need, that is, they are hiring.
They say that but I’ve been to interviews for every job around me and got turned down for every single one.
That said I wanted to touch back to this he told me:
“:Do you call what you feel a lie, or does your mind do it automatically? I say this. I want you to commit to automatically calling your emotions a lie. And if it keeps happening, then it is not you that is doing it. It is an automatic program of the mind. It is okay to make this distinction.”
