Dr Cyril Scott and Morris Hansen in their book about the benefits of apple cider vinegar that:
First - to prevent diarrhea because it contains astringent.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen such consentrated dumbness. Vinegar is nothing but a dilute solution of acetic acid.

  1. Even those derived from fermentation of various fruit contain such small amounts of all of these chemicals that you could get about the same amount by having a couple of glasses of hard water or almost any vegetable.
  2. So what, all the citrus fruit, and most other fruit contains as much acid as vinegar. I doubt that it would have any effect on diarrhea.
  3. Acetic acid is part of carbohydrate metabolism that goes on constantly in the body. We break down (oxidize) the carbohydrates to generate energy, and part of the process manufactures acetic acid which is then further oxidized to water and carbon dioxide.
  4. What??? All acids can cause calcium loss (necrosis) in the teeth.
  5. By the ime the vinegar goes though the stomach, is diluted by the stomach acids then goes into the intestine and is neutralized by pancreatic secretions, it’s not going to have ANY special effect on intestinal parasites.
  6. Maybe so if you are far away from any medical assistance, but there are far better ways of dealing with that problem. I’m sure Macgyver can list quite a few.
All that follows is just ancient Islamic fairytales that I’ll bet would be ignored by any moderan Moslem physician.

Vinegar prevents the accumulation of body fat and weight gain.
Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, took hold of my hand one day and led me to his residence. Some pieces of bread were given to him and he said, “Are there any condiments?" They said, “None except for some vinegar."
Aisha reported: The Prophet, peace be upon him, said, “The best of condiments is vinegar.
Diluted vinegar also makes a cheap but effective household cleaning solution, and is safer to use around children."
*Good for laundry ( add one capful / load)
*Wash floors and surfaces ( as disinfectant), works great.
*Boil one part of vinegar and 5parts of water, leave it boiling on the stove till it evaporates to remove strong odour in the house ( that air fresher couldn’t do).
Over the past 10 years, research has shown that some people with Type 2 diabetes may benefit from the consumption of two teaspoons of vinegar prior to a meal. That’s because vinegar has been found to inhibit the rise in blood sugar levels after meals.
According to studies performed by Carol Johnston, Ph.D., a professor of nutrition at Arizona State University in Tempe, vinegar decreases both fasting and post-meal glucose levels. The reason? It appears that acetic acid, the active ingredient in vinegar, inhibits the activity of several enzymes that break down carbohydrates, including amylase, sucrase, maltase and lactase. When this occurs, some sugars and starches may pass through the intestines without being digested, which lessens the impact on blood sugar.
Johnston’s initial studies included a group of participants with Type 2 diabetes as well as a group diagnosed with pre-diabetes. Among those with Type 2 diabetes, the effects of vinegar on blood sugar levels varied greatly but showed a small decrease in average A1C over a 12 week period. Those who benefited the most from daily vinegar consumption were the participants with pre-diabetes. In this group, vinegar reduced the rise in blood glucose one hour after a meal by about half.
Another surprising find during the research was that some who consumed a tablespoon of vinegar before lunch and dinner also lost an average of 2 pounds over 4 weeks. The trial also studied vinegar’s effect on cholesterol, but cholesterol values remained unchanged.

  1. To contain awful cooking odors (especially cabbage and fish), boil a cup of water in a pan on the stove and add 1 to 2 tablespoons of vinegar.
  2. To create a love home aromatherapy smell, add some cinnamon or orange or lemon peels to a pan of water and vinegar, let boil. It will fill your home with a lovely scent.
  3. To freshen a sink drain, pour 1/2 cup of baking soda down the drain and follow with 1 to 2 cups of vinegar. Let it bubble 5 minutes. Flush with plenty of water.
  4. To clean a sink aerator, drop heated vinegar into it to flush out hard-water deposits.
  5. To clean the coffeemaker, run full-strength white vinegar through a normal brew cycle, run again, stop halfway through and let sit 15 minutes, then run several cycles with plain water.
